-Bishop David Oyedepo on ‘OPERATING IN THE SUPERNATURAL – PART 2’ at Week Of Spiritual Emphasis – Day 2 || Youth Chapel.
Our teaching series as mentioned yesterday is ‘OPERATING IN THE SUPERNATURAL’. The supernatural is the natural realm of the believer. Every child of God is redeemed to operate in the supernatural. Our anchor Scripture is John 3:8 – Everyone born of the Spirit is born to operate in the supernatural, it is not reserved for the Apostles and Prophets, Pastors, Teachers and Evangelists- It is every believer’s right. Church Gist. The supernatural is the right of every believer, we are redeemed to be people to be wondered at, the Bible said that we are a peculiar people, we don’t fall into the general rung 1 Peter 2:9. We are a different species of people, things are permitted to happen in our lives, different from that which is happening in the world- We are a peculiar people unto God.
-And as we begin to operate in this realm, many will be following to worship our God! It’s a brand new day!
We serve a wonder-working God, He works wonders without number. And as ‘like beget like’, we are His wonder-working children, we are redeemed to be His wonder-working children. Church Gist. The reason why most believers don’t operate in this realm is because it is not for children, it is for sons. Jesus came, ‘And the Child grew’, there was no sign, no wonders Luke 2:40. He was born as a babe in the Manger, He became a child, an adolescent at the age of 12 but suddenly, ‘Here is my beloved Son, hear ye Him’.
The challenge has been that many believers have remained as babies. ‘Unto Us a Child is born, unto Us a Son is given…’ Isaiah 9:6. The authority shall rest upon the shoulder of the Son, not upon the child. In Galatians 4:1, ‘The heir as long as he is a child is not different from a servant’… They thought that Jesus was the son of Joseph the Carpenter, there was no difference until He arrived at sonship. It is time to grow, we must stop being crying babies, it’s time to grow! Church Gist. It is not a function of age but a function of depth and insight. It’s time to grow in the Word! ‘This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased’ – Great! (Living a life that pleases God), ‘This is my beloved Son, hear ye Him’ – Now He has been given the authority Matthew 17:5.
You know the two of them in Luke 3 when He was being baptized, the Holy Ghost came as a dove upon Him and then a voice from Heaven said, ‘Here is My beloveth Son in whom I am well pleased’. And in Luke 9:35, ‘Here is my beloveth Son, hear ye Him’. Church Gist. So we have to grow, that’s our realm but we can’t operate in that realm until we grow to match the demands of it. We must grow in the Word!
The world is waiting for us to begin to manifest as sons and daughters of the Most High God Romans 8:19. Children can’t manifest; only sons can manifest. Church Gist. We are the bearers of the solutions to their problems, now that we have come back with problems, how do we help them out? Who is like unto Thee Oh Lord! Exodus 15:11. And Job said that He does wonders without number (Unlimited), an Eternal source of unlimited wonder covering every area of life.
-No one among us shall be stranded anymore.
And when we were created, He created us in His image, His very likeness Genesis 1:26. And Jesus came and said, ‘Whosoever that has seen My Father has seen Me’! Church Gist. So we are wonder-working entities on the earth, all we need to do is to take Biblical responsibility to operate in the realm of the supernatural. In Hebrews 4:13-14, the Bible says, ‘For everyone that uses milk is unskilful in the Word of righteousness… There is a need to mature to gain command of the supernatural.
It’s not for babies Sir yet it is the right of every child of God. Now, to operate in the Supernatural, there are requirements that empower us to do it. Let’s start by recognizing this mystery as espoused in Exodus 4:17, ‘Thou shall take this rod in thy hands wherein you shall do signs…’ What is this rod? Church Gist. Where is this rod from? Micah 6:9, Isaiah 11:1-2. And we saw in Revelation 5:6- That drama in Heaven, how Jesus stepped forward and took the Book. So The Lamb is the rod that carries the seven Spirits of God in Isaiah 11:1 and 2. Who is the Lamb? Jesus! Who is Jesus? John 1:1-3. The Living Word is the rod.

This Book is made up of rods with which we do signs or operate in the realm of the supernatural. What are these rods? They are the revelations of the instructions of scriptures regarding any of our areas of interest in our lives. Mary got hold of that mystery “Whatever He tells you to do, do it”. It is the application of scriptural instructions that triggers the supernatural. ‘Fill the water pots with water’ and it turned to water on its own. ‘Go to the pool called Siloam and wash’ he went and washed and came back seeing. Church Gist. ‘Cast your net on the right side of the boat’ and they enclosed great multitudes of fish. So it is not about principles of scripture, it is about instructions of scriptures. Instructions of scriptures. We saw Moses with the rod in his hand, they call it ‘the rod of God.’ He was engaging that rod in line with instructions. People hate instructions so they go for intercessions, supplications and breaking their heads. If you don’t access the instructions, you keep on with your frustrations. There is what you and I must do for God to confirm His Word. It is not an abracadabra platform, it is definite. It is trackable, it is traceable. There are no games here.
How did you come by the abundance in this Church? I can tell you how. I can tell you the instruction He gave and how we engaged with the instruction and how the heavens had to open. No games! Is hitch-free marriage real? Yes! I got the instruction of it and engaged with it and it is more real than reality. But you won’t engage with it, you don’t believe in it. Until we know what He says to do and begin to do it we are not a candidate to operate in the supernatural. We don’t qualify to operate in the supernatural. Church Gist. No matter who prays for you. You will be surprised that if I pray for you and Dr Copeland prays for you and we are agents of prosperity on the earth, it won’t change your story if you won’t engage with Deuteronomy 8:18, forget it. You may be sitting on the front roll in Faith Tabernacle and Eagle’s Nest in Dallas, it doesn’t make a difference. It won’t change your story. Jesus went to Nazareth, they couldn’t believe Him so they couldn’t get any miracle. Let’s come awake and take responsibility. It is accessing the rod in the Word and engaging with the same that puts the believer in command of the supernatural.
The Word is full of rods and one of the platforms to access the rod is prayer and fasting. Prayer and fasting is one of the God-ordained platforms for accessing the rod in the Word. Every believer that is genuinely given to prayer and fasting and searching of scriptures never lacks access to rods. Isaiah 58:6-8. You locate the rods in the Word. Prayer will provide access but fasting facilitates access. It enhances our access. The Word is full of rods and through prayer and fasting, we can access the rods in the Word. Every revelation of instructions from the Word when engaged with puts us in command of the supernatural. This is where many have sold off their birthright. When they hear about Esau, they say “Poor Esau” There are many poor believers today than Esau. Church Gist. They sell their birthright without knowing. I had some awesome experience, October 1-4 1981. I described that as the Mount of Transfiguration, I just went before the Lord asking “What and what instructions have you for me in pursuit of this assignment?” Among other things, He told me ‘I have not designed life for ups and downs but for ups and ups. The path of the justified is like a shining light that shines more and more unto the perfect day” There and then I made a vow I am not expecting a better last year till I go to heaven. That is not God’s design. From now, many people here who care to believe will never know a better last year again. Proverbs 4:18. Church Gist. He said to me again on that mountain “You don’t need to know anyone to scale the utmost heights. Just know me. Those who do know their God they shall be strong and they shall do exploits” We live in a world where who you know matters according to them. For many believers including pastors that is how their lives run. He said you don’t need to know no one to scale the utmost heights in life just know me.
I am a word addict, every dictate from here moves me, every because I know I don’t have any other source, I don’t have any other source! . Men and brethren, 1981 October till date, I have not camped around any man in my life waiting for what help he can render me. I will lift up my eyes to the hills from whence cometh my help, my help cometh from the LORD that makes the heaven and the earth. Awesome God! Psalms 121:1-2. Church Gist. Those who are breaking forth of light in the course of a prayer and fasting time and then He landed me one blessing that has rescued me from the burdens of life. For the LORD thy God blessed thee, as He has promised you: and you shall lend unto many nations, but thou shall not borrow. Ahhh, yes it is a normal thing in the normal world to borrow to meet some contingencies or emergencies when you don’t have the means at that point. Deuteronomy 15:6, that’s where He spoke to me, I said why LORD? He said “because the borrower is servant to the lender.” I said what! You cannot serve two masters, you have to choose one and despise the other. I yelled in that room and said “Yea, I reject the lender.” I subscribed to my provider. I made a vow that day written down against borrowing, that is 1981, this is 2023, blessed be God in Heaven! I am owing no man nothing, no man nothing whether foreign or local, owing no man nothing. Somebody is going to stumble on amazing rod this month, as you camp with God, there is a rod that holds the answer to that challenge of your life, that’s a rod from this Word. He said “look to Abraham your father and Sarah that bear thee, I called them alone and blessed them.” He said “my son you are absolutely responsible for the outcome of your life.” Those were things that came out of the prayer and fasting mountain as He was preparing me for the task ahead. You are absolutely responsible for the outcome of your life. It changed my perspective, never looking for who to blame, you are absolutely responsible- things are working, you are responsible, they are not working, you are responsible. You are rising, you are responsible, you are crashing, you are responsible. Isaiah 51:1-3. Church Gist. I had read Kenneth Copeland and Gloria Copeland’s book for some time but I couldn’t get what is going on, I couldn’t experience it.
You know, one can be true to himself sir, you can decide to be true to yourself, decide to be true to yourself so I took these books and I went on a three day fast “Jesus, show me the secret of Kingdom prosperity.” Then, the rod emerged on the third day, the rod came. Hear ye the rod and the One who has appointed it, the rod showed up “My son, My prosperity plan is not a promise, it doesn’t answer to prayers, don’t kill yourself. It is not a promise, it has no respect for fasting. My prosperity plan is a covenant, until your part is played, I am not committed.” What a rod! I took the rod, yeah I can never be poor! That’s how miracles come sir, it is by accessing and engaging the rod of God regarding any subject of interest in your life. Church Gist. It is not far fetched, it is not something in the sky, it is you and me sitting down and unto us it is given to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. Every body has equal access by the blood into the treasures behind the veil, everybody has access, everybody has access, everybody! Everybody! That came 1982 and this is 2023, 41years ago, sure! His Word lives and abides forever. As you keep engaging with it, it keeps working and working without end. It keeps working and working without end. It keeps working and working without end. The rod of God in the hand of Moses was working all through the journey, all through the journey. That rod was incharge, all through the journey and then the Church was not growing, the Church was crawling, I said “Jesus, we can’t be going like this.” So, we put up a three day prayer and fasting, just four of us, on the third day, light broke out and here we are today, Amen! Church Gist. Don’t watch your life and destiny stagnated, wake up, wake up, there is no one to blame sir. Wake up, wake up. Those three days opened up the destiny of this Church. In the course of the prayer, He said “stand up and follow Me.” You know, God of wonders and He unveiled to me four points that will keep any Church growing under the sun. I have said that several times. There is always an outbreak of light in the course of prayer and fasting, always an outbreak of light, particularly when you have your topical issues you are dealing with not general we are fasting, I have been fasting now for 50days, what is the meaning? What’s the meaning? Somebody told me He has read the Bible two, three times, I said it doesn’t show, it doesn’t show, Amen! That light shines in darkness, it doesn’t show. You have the stories, why not but you don’t have the light. I must read fifty chapters a day and so what? Who are you competing with?
The entrance of His Word not the reading gives light. The entrance, the entrance – the spiritual understanding of it. 1 John 1:1-3. It is to get to the point of handling it, that we are talking about. You have heard it! Before I found this thing on prosperity, I have been preaching it o, you can be preaching what you have not found. You can be preaching what you have not found sir, preaching is easy, it is hear the story and retell the story. Church Gist. We have heard, we have seen, we have looked upon and our hands have handled of the Word of life… You have been hanging around hearing and seeing and looking upon, it’s time to step into the realm of handling it. You pull the rod out and you are aware the rod is now in your hand, you are aware the rod is now in your hand and as you engage with it, you command the supernatural naturally! You command the supernatural naturally, you command the supernatural naturally.
Everyone given to a lifestyle of prayer and fasting naturally flows in revelation as in the examples of Paul and Daniel, because of the abundance of revelation given to me and you saw Daniel, Daniel 10:1-12, he was standing before the LORD in prayer and fasting to access a particular truth and there was no one of his insight in the whole of the realm. Daniel 5:11 – 12. Everyone given to prayer and fasting naturally flows in revelation. That’s why prayer and fasting empowers believers to keep operating in the supernatural. Matthew 17:21. Their light has grown dim, the impact has gone down, they needed brighter light to deal with such demonic installation and outbreak of light comes through prayer and fasting. Church Gist. Mark 2:18-20, Luke 5:35. We are in those days now. The ball is your court and it is in my court. It’s a brand new day for you.
So every child of God is redeemed a miracle worker. In fact, in putting up the gifts of the Spirit ‘earnestly covet the best gift’. They are all available to you. Among the gifts is the gift of the working of miracles. Not waiting for miracles, working. Go through the Word, locate the Word, engage the Word and work the miracles.
Lift up your right hand to heaven and thank God for light. If any light broke through to you tonight. Light is sweet. Is this thing sweet to you? Is it really sweet to you? How many can say I now know what to do? The good news is that this shall be a month of months for you. The month of May 2023 shall be a month to be much remembered in your life and it is starting from now as you choose to take responsibility. I can’t choose that for you, you can’t choose that for me. Choose to take responsibility and you will find it so.
