The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the executive governor of Lagos State and all the ministers of the gospel, we welcome you and thank you for being with us on this solemn occasion. Thank you for your love and all those who came from different parts of the world, wonderful tributes that was paid to our dearly beloved daughter that has gone to be with the Lord. I am going to pray in a short while but let me say on or two things to those of us who are members of this House.
One of the challenges of Christianity is that when things like this happen, we have a lot of questions. Why? Why? Why? People begin to proffer different reasons that you don’t even have, we give reasons we don’t have. Christians have a penchant of when things like this happen, they are in shock. Church Gist. When the Bible tells us that we are living in a real world, Jesus said in me you shall have peace, in the world you shall have tribulations but be of good cheer. I have deprived the world of the power to hurt you. Many are the afflictions of the righteous but God delivered us out of them all. In the book of Daniel 11:32, it says those do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. It’s in adversity that you know those who know God. Many know church but they don’t know God and that is our problem.
If you read 2 Kings 13:14, the Bible says Elisha was sick and he died in verse 20 and was buried. The man that had double portion of the anointing. Things happen to us as men of God. In Joshua 1:2, God told Joshua “Moses my servant is dead”. Moses is not your servant, he is God’s servant. Nomthi is God’s servant not your servant. Nomthi is dead and she has gone to be with the Lord. Who are you to ask whether she lived long or short? Joshua was thinking of how he was going to get the job done and God said to him “my friend sit down, Moses is dead so go and get the job”. I am saying this to Fountaineers, go and get the job done. Look at the wonderful legacy she has left in just this short twelve years, look at the beautiful testimonies. She is God’s servant and one thing I know about God is that you can’t fire him or you can’t hire him. He has not fallen out of His seat, you can’t take Him to court. When you complain and complain, He will just be looking at you. When you can’t trace Him, you trust Him.
