We are still in the month of ‘Holy Spirit, my helper’…And today we’ll be looking at “Prospering In Hard Times – Part One”. One may ask, Is it possible to prosper in hard times? I’m sure that’s the question going through so many people’s minds. True! Am I talking? Just the way it is globally, it is possible. Say to yourself, “It is possible to prosper in hard times”. Looking at our founding fathers: Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph, they all went through hardship and hard times. Church Gist. In their season, not that they went through it but in their generation there was hardship. Not one person whose generation did not experience hardship but they were exempted. So find out, what did they do? Is that clear sir? You will expect that after Abraham, Isaac will not experience it. Isaac, if you say…Jacob, every one of them experienced hardship in their generation but they were not affected by the hardship. Now I will show you from the Scriptures. Genesis 12:10. Genesis 13:2.
– You too will enjoy the blessings of Abraham.
Now you’ll think after Abraham, Isaac shouldn’t suffer it. Is that true? Now come with me to Genesis 26:1. Now you’ll think after Isaac, it should end. Now the thing was increasing. Look at Jacob, Genesis 43:1. Genesis 26:12-14.
– The world will envy you. They will envy you.
Now after that, look at Jacob. Genesis 43:1, 12-13. Look oh, you see first there was famine, second grievous (famine), third sore (famine), now very sore (famine). Naira and dollar are high, it’s not new. Church Gist. It has been existing, that’s why you should calm down. Don’t bother about any hardship, just know what to do. Genesis 43:15. Money failing is not new. Devaluation is not new. Genesis 43:27. When the Egyptians were hungry, a certain group of people had abundance.
– May you enter that realm. Can I hear a better Amen?
– I decree, you’ll be exempted over the hardship in the name of Jesus.
So hardship in the land is not new. Tell your neighbor, “It’s not new”. You say, “Well, how can the Country be like this”? It has been like that. Those who know what to do don’t panic because there is nothing new. If it happened in Abraham’s time, what are you praying against it? There’s no point praying, just know what to do. Church Gist. Our founding fathers, if you look at all that we read, prospered in hardship. They all prospered. Abraham prospered, Isaac prospered, Jacob prospered and Joseph prospered. You too will prosper in the name of Jesus. So, we need to find out what they did to prosper in hard times. What did they do? Isaiah 51:2. Look unto Abraham, follow his footsteps. God has made provisions in the Scriptures for us to be prosperous in hard times. But here this Deuteronomy 8:18. Everyone needs to find out what the covenant is. If you read that scripture, God didn’t say I’m going to give you wealth, He said, “I’m going to empower you to get wealth.” The condition is that I’m going to establish a covenant with you. So, if you follow that covenant principle, I’m going to empower you. How many understand the Bible? Glory to God. Shout Hallelujah!
So, God’s plan for you to prosper in hardship operates on a platform called the covenant. You need to know what a covenant is. What is a covenant? A covenant can be defined as a spiritual platform where we commit God to make good His promise by our obedience. Every promise in scripture has a condition. When you meet the terms of the condition, it becomes binding for God to perform. Church Gist. There is nothing in Scripture that doesn’t have a condition. Even to be saved, you must confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior. To be healed, you must have faith in God’s Word. To enjoy peace in your marriage, you must love and submit. “There’s nothing in Scriptures”, that’s where we miss it. Many want the results without giving attention to the condition attached to bringing the results. There is nothing in the Scriptures that you don’t have a condition. If you want peace in your family, in your marriage, you must love and the woman must submit. True? You want to pass exams, there is a condition, you must study. There’s nothing like you don’t study, then you say, “God make me pass”. You can’t pass like that. Is that true? It’s when you study, that He empowers you to understand. There’s nothing in Scriptures that…even as free as salvation, you must make an altar call. You can’t just stand, “See, I’m saved”, you must confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
So, now everything has a condition but people want the product without going through the process. Church Gist. They want the results yet they don’t want to pay the price. Do you understand where we are missing it? A covenant is you knowing what to do to commit God to fulfill His own part. Is that clear sir? Shout Hallelujah!
– Somebody will never suffer hardship after today.
Mark 13:31. Anything God says is binding, it can’t fail because “God is not a man that he should lie” Numbers 23:19. There’s nothing God has said in this Book that he will not do. Anything God says here, He will do it. Say, “I hear”. Now hear this and hear me well. Psalms 89:34. So God is saying, “My covenant with you is unbreakable”. Listen carefully, you know what God is talking about, He said, “Anything I’ve said, no devil can break it”. No condition can break it. God is saying, that even Him (God) cannot break it. It is binding on Him. That’s how powerful a covenant is. Say, “I hear!” Church Gist. God said, “I won’t break it, it’s something that I cannot change my mind concerning it”. If you do your part, I (God) am committed to doing my own part. So all I need to do is to do my own part. So, prosperity is not left in the hands of God. Prosperity is left in the hands of the believer. Say I hear! Because God’s part is eternally what? Settled. Am I communicating with you Sir? So, all I need to do is to find out, what do I do to commit God’s integrity to perform what he has said that’s all I need to do. And I pray somebody will hear God’s voice and obey it in the name of Jesus. Now hear this and hear me well. Jeremiah 33:20,25. He says listen, “If you ever wake up and see day and night and no devil can stop it, do your part”. Now listen carefully, can any demon in this world stop day and night? So God is saying, just do your part, as long as you’re seeing the day and night, I’m remembering you that what I’ve said is unbreakable. How many of you understand me? Am I able to pass something across to you? He says, “Look, as long as you wake up, you see day breaks, night comes, no devil, no demon, not even satan himself can break what I said I’ll do for your life”. That’s how powerful the covenant is. Say, “I hear!”
– You will succeed.
Then, we need to know the backbone of the covenant. What’s the backbone? Somebody shout Hallelujah! So what do I do to commit God? See, are you getting me sir. The backbone of the covenant is found in Genesis 8:22. Has day and night ceased? Has summer and winter ceased? Has cold and heat ceased? So seed time and harvest cannot cease. Cold and heat have not ceased, after cold there’s heat, summer and winter, is that true sir? Day and night have they ceased? So God is saying if these things have not ceased, then know that seedtime and harvest cannot cease also. Don’t pull one out. You believe day and night is there, summer and winter is there, everything is there, don’t you know seed time and harvest is also there? Church Gist. This is where the covenant anchors on. So, if you believe day and night, you don’t pray. Has anybody gone to God and said, “Oh God, let the night come”? Who has ever prayed that prayer here? Has anybody prayed that kind of prayer before? “Oh God, no night bring night now, bring day”. Has anybody prayed that kind of prayer? Have you fasted that way? Have you ever fasted, “Oh God bring heat”? Heat time, heat will come. Have you ever fasted, “Oh God bring cold”? Cold time, winter will come. So stop praying for seed time and harvest. So, prayer is removed. Just sow seed. How many of us are understanding that?
So, we look at the channels of giving if you want to prosper in hard times. Say I hear! Are you getting where I’m going? Simple ABC no long grammar in a prosperity service. This is my area. The principal channel in operating the covenant is giving. Just like the principal channel in casting out demons is fasting. The principal channel in making altar call is confession. The principal channel in living a life of faith is reading the Bible. Church Gist. The principal channel for prosperity is giving. You don’t take one for another. Say I hear! Take away giving, you are deceiving yourself. The principal channel is not faith, it’s not prayer, it’s what? (Giving). Now, the principal channel for faith is the Word of God, you must read the Word of God. The principal channel for supernatural power is fasting. The principal channel for prosperity is what? Giving. You are afraid to say it? Tap your neighbor, say it now. I didn’t say living, giving.
Channels of Giving?
1. Tithing.
And as a master key to a world of financial prosperity in the Kingdom of God. Leviticus 27:30. Malachi 3:10. Now, all manner of teachings are in town where they say tithing is not important. How many of you are in love with that teaching? You love it? Don’t pay tithe whether you will prosper. Let me tell you, if you like take that teaching, I don’t care but if you no (don’t) pay tithe, you prosper, without stealing, without taking from man or woman. Clean money, I will drop this Bible, I won’t preach by the next day. Come and tell me that I’m a Christian, I’m born again, I’m tongue speaking, I don’t pay tithe, I’m prosperous. Yet, you live a clean life. I will tell you, I’ll drop this Bible, I will no more think this Kingdom can prosper without tithing. Church Gist. Except you are getting money from some cha cha cha way. But clean, God-given money is impossible without tithing. If you care…if any pastor told you he’s prospering without tithing that is preaching against tithing, tell him that I said he should prove to me where he prospers from. It’s impossible in this Kingdom to prosper without tithing. Look at the men who preach against tithing look at their lives first. If nakedness promises you cloth, won’t you run? It’s impossible. Malachi 3:8. So if they say don’t give tithe, then don’t give offering but all of them take offerings. Some even take five offerings. Malachi 3:10. He said bring it to me and prove me. You prove God by your tithe to fulfill your own aspect of the covenant. Malachi 3:11. “I will rebuke that thing that will stop you from prospering”.
– May everything stopping you from prospering be rebuked now.
– From this day wherever you and I who are tithers are found, blessings will follow us in the name of Jesus. Shout a loud Amen!
Abraham was a symbol of blessing and he was a tither. If you look at the first man to pay tithe after Adam fell, it was Abraham. Genesis 14:18-20. Every story of true prosperity in the Kingdom of God is traceable to tithing.
2. Worship offerings.
Deuteronomy 16:16. Now, you give according to your size. You give according to your what? Now after you pay tithe, I’m going to teach you ABC, 2nd Corinthians 9:6-7. Now hear this, this is how it works. The tithing is the foundation. Your offerings, they are the part of the building. This is how prosperity is, listen carefully. Every building has a foundation, is that true? You have the structure and then you have the roof. Am I communicating with you? Can you see it? Now, the foundation of a building is tithe. The structure is the offerings, different offerings and then the roof is the signs and wonders. Church Gist. Now, if I want to start a building, where do I start from? So I must pay tithe otherwise, my prosperity has no foundation. Then I’ll do what? Put a structure and then I’ll do what? Roof. The roof is where many people want to start from. The roof, you don’t put it, God just give it to you as signs and wonders. But many are praying for breakthrough for the roof. Your duty is to lay foundation, put structure and God gives you the roof. If I put foundation alone and I don’t put structure, when the full rain falls, it will enter. So many of us pay tithe, we don’t give offerings so the building can’t stand. Many give offering, they don’t pay tithe, so they are trying to put structure without foundation. Are you understanding? Glory to God!
Tithing is fixed, 10 percent of every income. Tithing is non-negotiable, It’s a fixed 10 (percent). Now, out of the 90 percent, whatever you do is offering. Are you getting me now? Tithing is a proof of obedience. Offering is a proof of love. Because Tithing is His own, so you are not loving God by paying tithe. “I just want to sow my tithe”, you don’t sow tithe. Do you sow tax to your government? You pay tax. Tithing is Kingdom tax. It belongs to God. Any other thing you do after tithing is what you say, “I’m demonstrating love for God”. Say I hear! Church Gist. Are you getting me sir? Now, your offerings should be bigger than your tithe in every month. That’s whatever you pay as tithe you offering should be what? Bigger. But offering is not one, offering is different offerings. Are you getting what I’m saying? When you combine all, it should be bigger in percentage than your tithe. How many of you are understanding what I’m saying? That’s the easiest way to prosper. Am I communicating with you? Glory to God!
So, when you come to Church, it is not in Church that you start looking for 1000 (Naira), 50 Naira, package your offering from house. Church Gist. That’s a disciplined lifestyle. Proverbs 11:24. When you don’t give properly, it affects your prosperity in times of hardship.
3. Giving to the Prophet.
2nd Chronicles 20:20b. You give as you are led by the Spirit of God. Matthew 10:41. 1st Kings 17:9-16. Philippians 4:15-19. Let me say this to you in a very simple way. How many of you testified that during my birthday you prospered? I’m going to teach you something very deep. How many of you testified? (You testified?) Now, you don’t wait for birthdays. Make it a lifestyle, you’ll never be broke. I don’t give to Bishop Oyedepo only birthday. Now, just imagine that period you gave, you prospered, true? Now if you do it as a lifestyle, you’ll just be prospering that way. “I don’t understand now”. Church Gist. You prospered during (my) birthday, is that not true? But you stopped, so the flow did not come. Now, if it’s a lie, I do it as a lifestyle. So, I keep prospering. The revelation you have was for birthday because they preached to you but it shouldn’t be birthday, it should be a lifestyle. You’ll just be getting…so everyday will be a birthday. “Believe the Lord your God…” You don’t prosper without a prophet.
4. Giving to your parents.
Many don’t know the blessing of parents are great assets to us. Ephesians 6:1-3. Now, hear this…you say, “Thank God, my parents have died”. People are very funny. They say well, this one don’t concern me, my parents have died. Both biological and spiritual parents empower us for wealth. If you want to prosper during hard times, just subscribe to a giving lifestyle and then prosperity is yours. The summary is just subscribe to a giving lifestyle. Just be a giver, there’s no two ways. Let me tell you something, you can never prosper in hardship if you are not a giver. The best time to prosper is now. A farmer that wants more harvest should sow more, plant more in farming. That’s when his harvest…listen take the farming principle because the farming principle is also in connection to prosperity. Church Gist. In farming, you’ll see that a farmer that wants to prosper will plant more and when he sells more than others. Is that true? So also, when you begin to sow more than others, you prosper more than others. If you notice, people are saying, this time they got breakthrough. Because there’s hardship in the land, God will supernaturally empower them, to now prosper them, when they sow more in this period. Is that clear sir? Glory to God! I increased my offering. I used to give a particular figure, I increased it, I said, “I can’t be blessed and remain…” My Sunday offering is our feeding money for almost 6 months, if not more than that. I’ve increased my offering. I don’t give 7 million (Naira) on a Sunday. No! I won’t tell you how much I give. Not because I have money to throw away but I know the principle. This time, things are so tough for people so I increased my offering. That’s why I’m prospering. Say, I hear!
Can I tell you something? The biggest offerings I had during my birthday came from outside except for one of our sons here who…are you getting what I’m saying now? If I convert his own maybe it’s high. But other very fat offerings, they are not members of this Church. In fact, one of them does not even go to Church. He called me, ‘Papa’ when he came. He said, ‘Papa, thank God for you oh”. You know why they thank God? Because of my sowing. When you are a giver, it can come from anywhere. So you are not tied to one environment. You say, “You be pastor now, I be him pastor? why he no go give him own pastor?” My friend, be a giver. Check those who are giving, they keep testifying. True? The answer, I’ve told you oh.
Now, this month is a month of the Holy Spirit, is that true? How does the Holy Spirit empower is to prosper in hard times?
Yes, you give but how does the Holy Spirit empower us to prosper in hard times. What’s the role of the Holy Spirit in this hard times? How does He empower you, because He has a role to play. Are you communicating with me sir? This month is a month of ‘Holy Spirit My Helper’. How does the Holy Spirit empower us to prosper in hard times? What does He do?
A. He empowers our insight into the secrets of God for financial blessings.
The Holy Ghost, when you are a giver, He empowers your insight, He will show you ideas, He will give you some strange things others can’t see so that you can prosper. Church Gist. Say, I hear! 1st Corinthians 2:9-10. If I am a lover of God, I’m a giver, what the Holy Ghost does is He reveals to me secrets that others can’t see. If you like fast from now till tomorrow, you will not get insights if you are not a lover of God…and the daily proof of love is giving.
That’s why I don’t lack revelations. I don’t lack insight. Insight is not by rigorous studies. It is the love of God. David had deep insight over what others don’t have insight on. You can’t love God and lack revelation.
– May your eyes be opened.
Job 29:3-4. You all know Job was a dangerous giver. True? Light is coming.
– May your eyes be opened.
Now listen, why is it that I have ideas of business every day and those who are in business don’t have ideas? I have thousands of ideas on how to create wealth and those who are in business don’t have ideas. Church Gist. It’s not going to business school that makes you get ideas, it’s giving in the Kingdom. So the Holy Ghost empowers you to see things others can’t see.
– May your eyes be opened right now.
B. He supernaturally connects us to men and women of status as solution providers.
This is what happens. Because of giving, Philip was connected to the Ethiopian Eunuch who was very rich. You remember the Ethiopian Eunuch was…go and read his background, he was very rich. Church Gist. He was the one keeping the whole money for the Queen of Sheba. Are you getting what I’m saying now? Acts 6:26-35. Genesis 41:38-41. For Joseph, from childhood, looking at their lineage, you’ll know he was a giver. Hope you know that? And who taught Joseph how to preserve food? The Holy Spirit. Now how come he was connected to Pharaoh and others were not connected?
– Look, today men of status will look for you.
When you are a giver, what the Holy Ghost does is to supernaturally connect you to…You don’t lobby. You don’t what? (Lobby). No, they just meet you. With all humility, who is who in this country? Those who hate me, they look for me. Church Gist. Even those who say, don’t mind am, they look for me. Strong muslims, core muslims look for me. Pharaoh was a magician, why did he look for Joseph? People who look for me most times are not Church people oh, core unbelievers. When you’re a giver, what the Holy Ghost does is that He empowers you to connect to men in authority and He begins to provide solutions to them.
– Today God will make you a solution provider.
So, it’s not, “Oh God bring me big men make I know them”. No! Just give, then you just see yourself supernaturally connected. See the way He gave Pharaoh a dream and then brought Joseph. It was a supernatural connection. Are you getting what I’m saying now? Joseph never lobbied for it. Church Gist. Not this one you are lobbying, going to tell lies in people’s name. You kneel down and say we are loyal. (You even lie so tey even your brother you go lie upon am). You don’t need all those kinds of dirty political games, just be a giver. Just get connected supernaturally and that shall be your testimony. Say I hear!
C. He destroys every hold of the enemies on your ventures and finances.
Isaiah 10:27.
– I decree, everywhere the enemy has held down what belongs to you, it shall be destroyed by the anointing of the Holy Ghost
– Every blessing of yours due you, that the enemy ever held down, by the anointing of the Holy Spirit, it shall be destroyed as you say Amen to that.
Say satan, “I’m a giver, so take your hands off my affairs right now in the name of Jesus”. When you are a giver and satan wants to harass you, (you say) “Shut up satan, take your hands off”. Wow, he will run. But if you are not a giver, he will be laughing at you. Say, I hear!
D. He empowers us for a qualitative covenant walk with God.
John 10:17-18.
E. He empowers our practice of the Word.
You know that some of you, no matter what you preach, you’ll be struggling. When you begin to walk in the covenant, the Holy Ghost empowers you. To do the Word will not be hard for you. Ezekiel 36:27. Say, I hear! So what have I said in summary? Prospering in hard times is not a product of luck. Say I hear! It is a product of a qualitative walk with God and absolute obedience to the terms of the covenant. Isaiah 1:19. Church Gist. Tell your neighbor and tell yourself, “I’ll keep sowing for me to keep reaping”. Well, welcome to a world of ceaseless financial prosperity. Say, I hear! Are you blessed today? How many are blessed? Did I mention fasting here? Of all I taught, any fasting? Any prayer? So please leave the hunger strike. Any Church where they tell you, you fast and pray to get money, they are only deceiving you. Both you and the Pastor, you’re ignorant. In the syllabus of Kingdom Wealth, no fasting and prayers. I fast for demons to leave. I fast to cast out devils but I don’t fast to get money. So, no prayer. Just do, you’ll prosper in hard times. I increased my offering this time more than before, because I know the secret. Are you blessed today? This is how to prosper in hard times. I just scatter (in giving) and I allow the Holy Ghost to do the work. He opens my eyes, “Seeing, seeing”. I had to work with the young men who worked with me to late in the night.
Let me say this to you, have they told you before that they are trying to give you money, they told you the amount and without receiving the money, you became excited. Because of the person who told you, “I’ll give you so and so amount”. You are sure that person cannot lie. Have you ever been excited? That’s how the promise of God is. The day you discover the truth, even when you’ve not gotten it, you’ll be excited. Church Gist. I didn’t become excited when I got the physical cash, I became excited when I got the revelation. Every man of insight does not bother about tomorrow because joy starts from the day you get insight. Jeremiah 15:16. You can’t find God’s word and not rejoice. In 1997, my wife is a witness I put my hand in my pocket and I said, “Sweetheart, we will never be poor”. All we had as married people then was 50 Naira in the house…and I looked at her and I said, “Listen, we will be very rich”. I used to preach in this Church long ago, I’ll say, “Listen, I am one of the wealthiest preachers”. I found something, I didn’t start when…if I talk now they’ll say, “God has blessed him, he’s arrogant”. Ask those who are here. Listen I’m rich. This Church is rich. Even a blind man will know that this Church is rich. Even those who hate us, they know we are rich. Even our enemies, they say, “God has blessed them”. You think everybody likes us? It’s a lie. But they have no choice.
Just do what God says, all this one, “Witches are worrying me”, it’s a lie. Do what God says. You won’t pray, you won’t fast, you’ll just see yourself prospering. Take this tape, go and give it to all the witches in the world and say, “This man talks too much how una go take make am poor”. I won’t fast, I won’t pray, I won’t be poor. Take this tape go and give the witches council of the world and say, “There’s a man of God in Nigeria, he talks too much, he mouth too sharp, witches take the tape, make una make am poor”. I won’t fast, I won’t pray, I won’t be poor. I know too much. Church Gist. I shouted long ago, I said, “A time is coming when things will be tough, but please the earlier you know what to do…” Because those you are running to are also running to other people. Okay, if you would depend on the former government, they are gone. What will you do now? That’s why you must walk in the covenant. They’ve gone. So if you know them, the former government (they are gone). This government will soon go, everybody will go. Soldier go, soldier come. But the earlier you know the Word of God, the better. Okay, you depend on the former government, 8 years (they were there), they are gone. This one will have their own time and go. Another government will come again. (President) Jonathan came and he left. (President) Buhari came, he left. Everybody will be coming and going. So that’s why you must have…but what does not go? He never goes on transfer, His name is God. The earlier you connect to Him, the better. If you know a government, that government will go. Please I have been here and I’m teaching you what I know.
