Proverbs 18:22
Proverbs 24:3
Most people believe that the reason they can’t build what they want to build is because they don’t have the material resources, but l say today that the primary resource you need is wisdom and the wisdom will create material things.
Wisdom is the function of maturity. For you to find the right mate, you need to become the right mate. You don’t attract what you want, you attract who you are.
Using Luke 2:52 as a template for maturity.
Four dimensions in which Jesus experienced growth and development:
Jesus increased in wisdom: His mental development
Jesus increased in stature: His physical development.
Jesus was in favour with God: His spiritual development.
Jesus was in favour with man: His social development.
Life is not always what you see, it is how you interpret it. What somebody sees and calls a problem another sees it and call it an opportunity. Life is interpretation. Your provision is tied to your vision.
The principle that works in deciding who to marry is the law of recognition, it is what you have inside you that helps you to recognise.
The process of maturity is essentially the process of change in perspective.
1 Corinthians 13:11
.Spiritual Development: this lays the foundation for your life, your ability to relate with God, spiritual growth. The alignment of your thinking with the way God thinks. Hearing from God. What you hear from God grows you up. The more you grow spiritually, the more you can hear from God. Hearing from God, trusting God and obeying God is a sign of maturity. Jesus had spiritual maturity, everything He did, He heard from God
Mental Maturity: Jesus was matured mentally. This has to do with developing your sense of judgement, being able to define what is right and what is wrong. The second dimension is competence, developing skills. There is no point getting married if you don’t have a trade. God gave Adam the Garden before He gave him a wife. Jesus too was trained to be a carpenter by His father.
Mark 6:3.
Social/Emotional development: this is the maturity in relating with other people, developing communication skills. If you don’t know how to communicate with others, you can’t build a successful relationship. Proverbs 15:1
Jesus developed communication skills, we need emotional development.
Physical development: marriage is not for boys and girls.
The more mature you are, the better the likelihood that you would be able to recognise the person you are supposed to marry.
Galatians 4:1-2
The key factor is vision. Maturity comes with vision, the ability to see.
Proverbs 29:18
For a Christian, you have to do visioning (think of a day in your life five years from now) you have to do it prayerfully so that those thoughts will be influenced by God.
Marriage is essentially about intuition, you don’t marry someone the way they are now because you are going to spend the next years of your life with them, you marry someone for the future.
Some people, all they think about is the wedding. After the wedding what next?
Jeremiah 33:3
When you look at that picture, everything you see is you. You are like the magnet that attracts everything else in that picture. To make that vision realisable, you have to grow to the size of that vision.
One thing your vision does for you is it defines your values. And once your values are identified, it makes it easier to detect your husband or wife. Not every man or woman is a material for you.
Proverbs 31
If you want to marry someone, your values need to align.
