SO MANY TIMES WE SPEND SO MUCH TIME TALKING ABOUT THE DEVIL, THAT WE SPEND VERY LITTLE TIME TALKING ABOUT GOD. YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT WHATEVER YOU MAGNIFY, WILL MANIFEST.

IF YOU MAGNIFY SATAN, HE WILL MANIFEST. IF YOU SPEND ALL YOUR TIME TALKING ABOUT DEMONS, THEY WILL MANIFEST. IF YOU TALK ABOUT GOD, HE WILL ARISE.

  • Pastor Dr. Mensah Otabil at International Central Gospel Church, Christ Temple Accra Sunday Service

For the next few weeks, I will be speaking on issues related to ‘RISING’ in life. So I start today, and my message is titled: LET GOD ARISE.

Psalms 68:1
The key word in that verse of scripture is the word “Arise”, so I will take time to define it a little.

The word ‘arise’ in the Hebrew means to stand to act. It means one who is ready to do something. So when we say God arise it means God is in a state of alertness or readiness to do something.

Secondly, the word ‘arise’ means to stand to be established. Church Gist. It is used in a sense of when a person says “what I have said will stand”. When you say that it doesn’t mean what I have said will get up, it means what I have said will stand to be established. So when we say “Let God arise” we mean that God will see His purposes established.

Thirdly, the word ‘arise’ means ‘to show up on the scene’. It is used in the context of when a champion steps to battle and a champion rises up and appears on the scene. If He is a formidable champion, his enemies disappear. So when God shows up on the scene, His enemies scatter.

The root verse that David quoted occurs in the book of Numbers, you will find a similar statement made by Moses.
Numbers 10:35-36
The Ark Of The Covenant was very important to Israel, they were not to worship the Ark but they were to treat it with utmost reverence because it reminded them that God was in their midst. When the Ark of the covenant moved, they moved. When the Ark settled, they settled. The Ark was always moving first and the people following. It was a way of saying “When God moves, I move. We move at the impulse of the Lord, we move by His direction”.

So when the Ark was moving, they will place it on the shoulders of the Levites and Moses will say “Rise up Oh Lord, let your enemies be scattered and let those who hate you, flee before you”. It means when God shows up, His enemies scatter before Him. In verse 2 of Psalms Chapter 68, it says that God’s enemies are dispelled like smoke blown by the wind or wax melted by fire.

Note that it didn’t say, let God arise and my enemies be scattered. It says let God arise and let God’s enemies be scattered. The people that scatter are not necessarily your enemies but God’s enemies. For someone to scatter, they must not just be fighting you, they must also be fighting God and when that happens as God shows up, they are scattered. Don’t downplay the presence of God in your midst, let God arise.

In the days of Moses, God arose when the Ark of the Covenant arose. Can you imagine how it was? They were in the wilderness and in the wilderness they were enemies all around. Church Gist. This is a nation without land, it didn’t have an army or any protection. They were just slaves who have recently gained freedom and they were enemies all around them who wanted to steal their gold and silver. This is how they moved for 40 years, the Ark of the Covenant rises and all over, in every nation enemies that want to attack them scattered. They were blown away like smoke in the wind and wax in fire.

In Psalms 68, the Bible tells us how David made God arise, in the days of Moses it was Ark of the Covenant lifted. We don’t have an Ark to lift today, so how does God arise for us?

Psalms 68:3-4
How does God arise? God arises when we rejoice in the Lord. Rejoicing in the Lord means that we are glad. We can’t rejoice if we allow our heart to be weighed down by sorrow. When we rejoice we exclaim “Hallelujah”. Church Gist. If you go through life depressed and defeated, God will not arise on our behalf because God arises when our hearts are full with gladness and rejoicing in Him. You have to learn to rejoice in the Lord. Church Gist. Learn to see the beauty of His holiness and praise Him.

Secondly, God arises when we magnify Him, we declare how wonderful He is. When we recognise what He has done and what He is doing and magnify Him, God arises. When we want God to arise we must extol the name of the Lord, when we see how high He is, we see every other thing as low, that is how God wants us to approach every day. When we magnify the Lord, He shows up on the scene. When we call His name, He answers and shows up as a Man of War.

When you want God to show up in your case, then magnify His name, praise Him and He will show up. So many times we spend so much time talking about the devil, that we spend very little time talking about God. You have to remember that whatever you magnify, will manifest. Church Gist. If you magnify Satan, He will manifest. If you spend all your time talking about demons, they will manifest. If you talk about God, He will arise. If you praise the devil, he will arise. If you have demonic activities all around you, check who you have been magnifying, that is what is arising.

Psalms 68:7-10
Look at what happens when God arises: First, He shakes and moves established powers. Things that appear immovable will move. Church Gist. When God shows up in your family, marriage, office, nation, world He will shake and move things. Secondly, He opens the heavens and favours His people. Thirdly, when God arises, He confirms His Word to His people.

Acts 16:25-26
You know the story of Paul and Silas and they were in the city of Philippi and casted out a demon of a girl that offended some people because it had financial repercussions. So they reacted through the political system to put Paul and Silas in prison. Church Gist. But, Paul and Silas knew how to make God arise. When we magnify the Lord in our midnight hour, He shakes foundations, He breaks chains and He opens doors.

  • This week foundations will shake. This week chains will be broken, doors will be opened because God will arise as we praise, worship and magnify Him.

When all is dark in the midnight hour, God arises. Church Gist. Someone may be in their midnight hour but if you spend time worshiping and magnifying Him, God will arise. Maybe your situation there is no way out, you feel locked in and helpless, God will arise. He will shake the foundations of men and overthrow the thoughts of evil people.

Why don’t you give God praise this morning and lift up holy hands to the Lord because God is about to arise and His enemies will scatter.

LET GOD ARISE! LET GOD ARISE!! LET GOD ARISE!!! And let His enemies be scattered.

  • You will come with a testimony that God arises and His enemies is scattered.

We worship you Father and we magnify your Holy name YAH. You are YAHWEH, the mighty one, the unconquerable one, the undivided one. Arise oh Lord on behalf of your people and show up on the battle front on behalf of your people.
