Our teaching series for the Month has been THE BIBLE: A MOST RELIABLE GUIDE OF LIFE and we are reminded this morning that a life without direction is a life lived in frustration. Church Gist. Ecclesiastes 10:15. This is important because the faculty of man, the intellect of man, the capacity of man, is insufficient to direct the course of his life. Jeremiah 10:23. Proverbs 19:21. Proverbs 3:5,6.
- My prayer is that for every one of us beginning from this season onward, your steps will no longer be self-directed, but every step of your life and my life shall be as ordered by the Lord. If you believe it, say a loud Amen!
Now, it is important for us to know that although the Holy Spirit is the personality through which God leads, the Word of God is the instrument through which He leads. The Holy Spirit is the Person, but the Word of God is the instrument. In other words, the map for our lives is charted through the Word of God. John 16:12,13. Church Gist. So the Holy Spirit is the guiding personality but the Word of God, the truth of God is the instrument through which He guides. That means that you cannot be led by God if you are not committed to the Word of God. The Word of God remains God’s instrument for the leading of His people. Psalm 119:105. So the Word of God must take a central place in the life of every believer if such a believer will not end up frustrated in the journey of life.
Quickly this morning, what makes the Bible a reliable guide? We look at 3 things quickly.
1: The Bible contains spiritual seeds and those seeds reproduce in the life of whosoever believes. The Bible contains spiritual seeds and the seed of the Word produces in the life of whosoever believes. Luke 8:11. So, the Bible is a Book of seeds. 1 Peter 1:23. That means that anytime you look at the Word of God, it is a seed that does not decay, a seed that does not diminish, its influence, its potency, never goes down. Church Gist. So, the problem is never with the seed, the problem is always with the soil. If the Word of God is an incorruptible seed, a non-degradable seed, a non-diminishing seed, then the question is, into what soil is it planted? The seed is the Word of God, but what determines the outcome of the seed is the soil into which it is planted. Luke 8:15. So, the soil is the heart and the productive soil is what the Bible called a honest and a good heart. A heart that receives the Word of God with sincerity. A honest and a good heart. A heart that takes the Word of God raw and swallows it all. A honest and a good heart. So, the soil that receives the Word must be a soil that is honest and good and the Bible says when that is the case, “They hear the Word and keep it” They don’t let it go. They lay hold upon it, refusing to let go of it and what is the outcome? They begin to bring forth fruit.
You see, every time you find a seed that is held by the ground, very soon, you’ll find the ground release the fruit, if it is held by the ground. The problem in many cases is that the Word of God is not held in the heart, so as a result of that, there is no fruit out of the life. So, there is a demand for us to recognize that if the Word of God is going to produce, it is dependent upon the condition of the heart into which it is received. Church Gist. Never forget, the problem is never with the seed, the problem is with the soil. The seed is incorruptible, non-degradable. It cannot diminish in its potency. The problem is usually with the soil. That means that there is no man that tries God’s Word, no. Every Word tries every man. Psalm 105:17. The potency of the Word of God is non-negotiable. The condition of the heart of man is what is usually in question. So, it means that the Word of God is a seed but the heart of man is the soil and the condition of the soil determines the outcome of the seed. So I must ensure that the soil of my heart is honest, the soil of my heart is good.
What else? There must be a mixture of faith in it. Hebrews 4:2. So, the Word must be received into a heart that is honest and good but the Word must be mixed with faith in the heart and then the fruit of the Word begins to show forth. So from Scriptures, we see, therefore, that the Bible is a container of spiritual seeds. Church Gist. Whatever you receive from the Word that is planted in your heart, when the heart is good and honest and that Word is mixed with faith, it produces fruit. What is the fruit? Testimony. The fruit is the testimony of the Word that was sown. It is the testimony, the result of the Word that was sown. So, our heart is the soil, the Word is the seed and the fruit is the testimony. When the Word meets a ready heart, it produces the desired fruit, that is the desired testimony.
- For somebody hearing my voice this morning, I see your desired testimony manifesting in the name of Jesus Christ.
- If you believe it, say a louder Amen!
So, the Bible contains spiritual seeds and the seed is incorruptible, cannot be degraded, cannot be reduced, cannot be diminished. It is the soil that determines the outcome. That means that the Word that gave one person a testimony has the ability to give another one the same testimony. Church Gist. Why? The seed does not decrease, it does not diminish. It is the soil that must be always checked. So we must ensure that we recognise that the Word of God have the ability to reproduce consistently, over and over again.
- I see God’s Word beginning to produce unusual testimonies in our lives.
2: The content of the Word has unlimited capacity to create what it says when it is received and believed. So first, it’s a seed. Secondly, it has unlimited capacity to create. So God’s Word is God’s creative force. It has the ability to create whatever it describes when it is received and believed. Church Gist. It is creative. In Scriptures, we discover that everything God created, He created by the instrument of the Word. Everything on the Earth is created principally by the Word. Is somebody getting what God is saying?
I remember years ago, I would read the Bible, Genesis 1 and read the story of creation and so forth and chapter 2 and I would see how the Bible said “And God formed man out of the dust of the Earth” and in my mind, my mind will see almost the way a Sculptor would take clay and begin to form it into an image. But then, suddenly, one day as I was meditating, I saw God’s creative pattern repeated in Ezekiel 37. Church Gist. Ezekiel 37:3,7. What dragged one bone to the other was not a finger, not a hand, not an arm, not a leg. But the Word spoken gathered bones and located flesh that covered the bones. How did the flesh come? Inside the Word was the flesh. You say “Pastor, how can you say inside the Word was the flesh?” Because the Bible said “The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us” So, where is flesh? Inside the Word. Where are bones? Inside the Word. Where is blood? Inside the Word. Where is oxygen? Inside the Word. Everything God made was made by the Word. Hebrews 11:3.
You see, the nature of man is that everything man makes is made out of something that can be seen. If you see a house built, you say “Oh, look at this beautiful house” Inside that house is stone, inside that house is sand, inside that house is cement, inside it is iron rod, inside it is wood, inside it, there is metal sheets for the roof and so forth, inside it, copper for the cable, inside it there is rubber to cover the copper. Church Gist. All of these materials, all can be seen. Why? Man made the house. But when God makes a thing, He makes it out of that which cannot be seen, but even though the original source is ‘unseeable’, you cannot dismiss that which it creates. So, the Word of God is God’s creative force. Interpretation for you and for me. It means that whatever is in our lives that cannot be repaired, the Word can recreate it. Is somebody getting it now?
There are who, perhaps, you have been told that no womb. No problem, all you need is Word. One Word can recreate the womb. You don’t need to feel anything, you need to simply see something from the Word. So many people are looking for feelings, “Ah! I don’t feel anything that makes me know something has happened” No, the Kingdom does not operate by feelings, it operates by seeing. Church Gist. If you can see it from the Word, you will live it in your world. So, we have to get ourselves open to seeing what God is saying. That is the key to experiencing whatever God has available for us. So, the Word of God has creative capacity. It has the ability to create. So, it doesn’t matter what it is, inside God’s Word is God’s creative capacity. Isaiah 55:11. Whatever Word has been released will always create whatever it is that it is sent to create before it returns back. So the Word of God will always produce results. Shout hallelujah! So, it has unlimited capacity to create what it says.
3: The Word is the most reliable manual for commanding exploits. Exploits by ordination is the redemptive right of every believer. Every child of God is ordained by God to be an entity of exploits. Listen to me carefully this morning, we are not here to be mediocre, we are not on the Earth to be average, we are not here to blend in, we are here to stand out! Church Gist. But in order to stand out, we discover that the manual through which our exploits are commanded is the Word of God. Daniel 11:32. Isaiah 60:1-3. When a person encounters the light of God’s Word, he becomes an entity of envy. It says “Kings will come to the brightness of your rising” Why? Because that person has encountered the light of God’s Word and that light will always produce…
Now, listen to this. There is nothing that anybody on the Earth respects like results. When you have results, you’ll not need explanation. When there are results, you will naturally attract the attention of your generation. Church Gist. Isaiah 60:3. When results are there, insults will be silenced. That’s the key and it is the Word of God that pushes us to the realm of producing unmatchable results. Shout Hallelujah!
God’s Servant said something some time ago so striking in my view. He said “Don’t mind all the people who are going around talking about me negatively. When they see me, they don’t say it oh. When they see me, oh! God bless you, Sir, we’re so glad for what…the same people. Church Gist. We’re so happy for what God is doing, God is doing so many mighty things” The mouth to talk or to mistalk has been silenced. Job 29:10. A normal talker became a stammerer. That’s what happens when there are results. But what provokes result is the Word of God.
God’s Servant said years ago, somebody asked him, he said “How is it that all these great things get done in this Commission?” He said “We do nothing except it’s as commanded. Church Gist. Everything is by the Word” And as a result of that, you see the light shining brighter and brighter. As a result of that you find kings rushing to the brightness of the rising.
- That would be somebody’s experience from now.
- If you believe it, say a louder Amen!
Now, what are the requirements for being guided by the Bible? Church Gist. If God’s Word is going to guide me, what are the requirements? 2 things.
1: Be diligent in the study and meditation of God’s Word in all areas of interest. 2 Timothy 2:15. It takes study for any man or woman to command proofs. Church Gist. When we talk about study, 3 things are important.
i: Reading. You can’t claim to study without reading. So you must read the Word of God. You must be a Scripture reader. You are settling on the Word of God and you are settling on the things that speak of the Word. Church Gist. Alright? So first of all, you must be a reader. Revelation 1:3. So, there is a blessing in reading. So you can’t claim to be a student of the Bible without being a reader of the Bible. Isaiah 34:16. So, first is reading.
ii: Thinking. You must begin to think the Word. Let the content of your mind be saturated with the Word. Thinking. So, you are reading the Word, you are thinking the Word and when I’m talking about reading the Word, I’m not just talking about reading the Bible, but also materials that will facilitate your understanding of Scriptural truths in the areas of concern. Church Gist. Your career perhaps is not going the way you want it to go, you get materials that will boost your faith in that area and having read it, think it, settle down and meditate on it. Joshua 1:8. Psalm 1:2,3. Thinking the Word consistently, that’s part of our study.
iii: Writing. Revelation 1:11. So, if I say I’m studying, I’ll be reading, I’ll be thinking, I’ll be writing. So any day that I’m not reading, I’m not thinking, I’m not writing, it’s a day I’ve not studied. It’s so important for us to understand that it will take the combination for us to have proof. 2 Timothy 2:15. Who is a man that is approved? A man that has proof. Acts 2:22. Church Gist. So we must be students of the Word. That means we must read, we must think and we must write. Saturate your mind with the Word of God. Cocoon your life with the Word of God. Take notes on your discoveries, actions that you are going to take based on what you have discovered. These are the things that produce results in the life of a believer.
God’s Servant has said this over and again, he said “I read daily. I think daily. I write daily” Everybody who works with him can tell you the testimony of that. Every single day, there are writings. Church Gist. Many of us have gotten “Treasures Of Life”, the Books, 4 volumes have come out now, things that have been written years and years and years and yet the writing is still continuing, the reading is still continuing, the thinking is still continuing. You see, as long as the study continues, the result continues. That’s why it’s important for us to ensure that we study with diligence.
2: Be sensitive to what the Holy Spirit is saying to you as you study. In the process of studying, we have access to the voice of the Spirit, so we have to be sensitive. John 16:12,13. The Holy Spirit is the One that can reveal the deep things of God to us. Church Gist. 1 Corinthians 2:10. So every time you study, open yourself up, “What is the Spirit of God saying to me now?” Get yourself sensitive to the leading, to the direction, to the instruction of the Holy Spirit. Shout hallelujah!
Now quickly, how does the Bible guide the believer?
1: God speaks to believers today through His Word. This is very important. Hebrews 1:1,2. Who is the Son? The Word. So the Word of God is God’s channel through which He speaks to us. That is why you discover that one of the ways you can pick the voice of God is through the volume of the Word inside of you. Psalm 29:1-3. Church Gist. You see, if you go to any place where you have an enclave with water, a quiet body of water and you shout, you will discover that it amplifies your voice, it pushes your voice higher. When God’s Word is gathered inside a person’s heart, the voice of the Spirit becomes louder in that person’s heart.
Colossians 3:16. That is, saturate your life with the Word of God because as you’re doing so, the voice of the Spirit begins to sound loud and clear. Some people say “Oh! Pastor, but I’ve not heard the voice of God” Very simple, get yourself committed to His Word. Church Gist. Inside His Word is His voice. So get yourself committed to the Word and you’ll find the voice of the Lord triggering inside of you to produce results. Shout hallelujah! So the Word of God carries inside of it the voice of God.
2: The Word provides the needed guidance towards making critical decisions in our lives. The guidance you need to make very critical decisions in your life, you will find those decisions dictated to you in the Word of God. The critical decisions. Proverbs 3:5,6. So, every way we need to take, every critical turn you need to make, go to the Word. Church Gist. That’s how you acknowledge Him. You go to the Word, “Lord, what is it that your Word has to say?” You want to get married, go to God’s Word. Let the Word of God dictate to you what it is that will qualify for a glorious family life. The Word of God is there to show us the steps that we need to take in order to enjoy the best that God has in store for us.
Now listen, if you are not Word loaded in the journey of life, you will end up being confused and distracted. There are so many people today going around that have become victims of different so called visions that people have on their behalf. Church Gist. Hear this and hear it very well, there is nothing that is more potent than God’s Word. Hello? There is nothing that is more potent, more original, more correct than the Word of God.
Years ago before I got married, an elderly woman came to meet me and said to me, “You know that God will do nothing, except He shows it to His Servants the Prophets” I said, “Okay, so where are you going?” She said “Well, I want you to know that the person you want to marry, there’s somebody you want to marry, that person is not the person you’re supposed to marry. This other person is the person you’re supposed to marry”. Church Gist. When she finished talking, I smiled, I said “Sit down” She sat down. I said, “Look, the Bible you are trying to quote also said he that findeth a wife, not he that they helped to find, he findeth a good thing and has obtained favour from the Lord. You are 100 per cent wrong. Stand up and go” Is somebody getting it now? Now, we just clocked 16 years, peaceful, joyful, we have never had one argument, we have never raised voice one to another, not one time. Somebody would have used vision to cause confusion if there was no Word to stand on.
The truth is this, there are so many people today that go all around. Even dreams you see, weigh it by…so many people are going all around “I saw this in the dream” and then you are running around based on the dream. Hear this oh, the Bible says “A dream comes by the multitude of business” If you think too much on a thing, you will dream. You don’t need to be told that. Even practically you know. Church Gist. If you are hungry and it is hunger you use to sleep, you will eat. You know why? It is hunger. Hello? If you watch something that is scary that you should not watch before you sleep, those things you were seeing in the video, they will continue in the dream. It doesn’t mean that…hello? Tell your neighbour, “Weigh it with the Word”. Let God’s Word be the final authority in your life. Is somebody getting it now?
God’s Servant stood here and said something in the First Service I believe. He said “Look, anything I say that is not in the Word, throw it away” Everyone that generates proof, they are committed to God’s Word. So, critical decisions, you take them on the basis of the Word of God. You want to marry, they are asking you “Is the man born again?” You say “Well, he goes to Church” Is that what the Bible says? The Bible says don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers. Church Gist. Those who don’t listen to what the Word of God says to them, they are the ones who come back later for counselling. “Pastor, I don’t know oh. It’s after I entered I began to see” “You saw it before, it was inside the Bible, it said don’t be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. We asked you is the man born again, you said he goes to Church very well, he prays very well. That’s not the issue. The issue is, is he born again? Does God know him as His child?” Is somebody getting what God is saying?
You know, even in the natural, when people have problems, they report them to their parents. Now, there is issue between you and the man, you report him to God, God says “He’s not my child oh. Church Gist. This one is not my child. He’s somebody else’s child” And you cannot negotiate with the person who is his father because the father is now satan. Settle down and weigh the decisions of your life with the Word.
- I see grace coming upon us for this in Jesus name.
Now, today is the Covenant Day of Fruitfulness. Church Gist. It is important that we note the following this morning.
Every child of God is a seed of Abraham and every seed of Abrahan is ordained to be a partaker of the blessings of Abraham. Galatians 3:13,14. Church Gist. One of the blessings of Abraham is the blessing of fruitfulness. Deuteronomy 7:14. So, one of the blessings of Abraham is the blessing of fruitfulness. This is very important.
We also discover from Scripture that we have been redeemed from the curse of barrenness. Church Gist. Barrenness in Scripture is described as a curse. Deuteronomy 28:18. Galatians 3:13.
Furthermore, we discover from Scriptures that serving God empowers us for fruitfulness. Church Gist. As we keep serving, He keeps blessing and one of the blessings is the blessing of fruitfulness. Empowers us for fruitfulness. Exodus 23:25,26.
Furthermore, from Scriptures, we also see that as long as we are planted in the house of God, we are ordained to keep bearing fruits even until old age. Church Gist. So, nothing can stop your fruitfulness when you are planted in God’s house.
A testimony was shared in the First Service, 43 years of waiting, as they settled down in God’s house, God settled them without them knowing. The husband said they told the wife “It’s like you need to start doing exercise oh, you are gaining weight. Start working” She started working, later the wife started complaining that she couldn’t go to the toilet. Church Gist. He said “Go and meet the doctor, let them check what’s happening” They went for hospital check, it was there that they discovered that she was pregnant. Delivered the baby, after 43 years because “They will still bring forth fruit in old age” as long as they are planted in the house of the Lord. Psalm 92:14.
But it is important to know that joy is required to secure the rewards of our labour. So don’t let depression take you down. Church Gist. Maintain your joy. Isaiah 54:1. So let your joy remain full and as you do, expect to see your miracle.
Let’s be reminded as we conclude this morning that for those of us on the line for miracle babies, God is the only baby maker, therefore, since you are His child, you cannot be a baby beggar, your miracle children are released to you! Church Gist. There will be no more delay for you in the name of Jesus Christ. Ruth 4:13. Ruth had been married before, she never got pregnant, she was barren but when God came on the scene, barrenness was terminated.
- Good news is that in your own case, God is on the scene and every hold of barrenness is terminated forever!
