We are beginning a series of teachings this morning that we are going to be taking all through our Sunday Services this Month and it’s captioned “THE BIBLE – A MOST RELIABLE GUIDE OF LIFE.”
By way of introduction this morning, we are reminded that understanding how God leads is crucial for any one of us to be able to make the most out of the adventure of life. Isaiah 48:21…He led them and by His leading they had an outstanding experience. Deuteronomy 32:9-14…affluence as an outcome of the leading of God. Church Gist. So the best of the adventure of life can only be experienced when one is under the leading of God. This is because man does not have the capacity in himself to direct his steps. Jeremiah 10:23. This is why we are told not to lean on our own understanding. Proverbs 3:5-6.
Furthermore, ignorance of God’s ways can be costly if not even deadly – (it) can be costly. Jeremiah 2:14-17. Church Gist. So when a person forsakes or becomes ignorant of the leading of God, his life is opened to devastation and to destruction.
- That will not be any one of our experience in the name of Jesus!
But it is important to know that God has made available to each one of us the ultimate Guidebook of life and that’s the Bible. He has made available to each one one of us the ultimate Guidebook of life and that is the Bible. Church Gist. The Bible is the Guidebook of life. Psalm 119:105. So God’s Word is the map for living. It is what gives us direction for living. It is what secures us the pathway to live life as God has ordained it to be lived.
What Is It That Makes The Bible A Reliable Guide?
- The Word is the Creator’s Manual for profitable living. It is the Creator’s Manual for profitable living. That means that this Book called the Bible is a manual. It’s not just a book but it is a manual that dictates the way to live profitable lives. 2 Timothy 3:16-17. So the Word of God is the Manual for our profitable living. Church Gist. Remember that God has ordained our lives to be profitable not loss making. Isaiah 48:17. But the profit of life can only be secured on the basis of the Word of God. Hebrews 4:2. So the Word of God is God’s channel for human profiting.
There is no department of life that is not captured in the Book called the Bible – marital life, business life, health life, family life. Every department of life is captured in the Book called the Bible. Psalm 139:16. Everything about you is documented in His Word. That means there is no department in your life that does not have an answer or solution in the Word of God. Church Gist. Hebrews 10:7. So the Bible is not just a book that tells stories. No! It is the Book that makes stories. It makes the stories of the believer. It dictates the future of the believer and it secures that future for profiting.
- My prayer today is that from this time onward, our eyes will be opened to the light of the Gospel that will grant each one of us access to profiting in life!
Joshua 1:8. So every department of life becomes profitable or successful on the basis of the Word of God. If you are going to have profit in any department of your life, it is going to be on the authority of God’s Word. Church Gist. When the light of God breaks forth in the life of any individual, there is a dramatic change of level in that department of life.
- I pray that for each one of us, any department of life that is under any strain, as the light of God breaks forth, it shall experience a dramatic turnaround!
This is so important. So the Word of God is God’s instrument for profitable living. It is the guide that brings us into a profitable lifestyle. Church Gist. And I pray that for each one of us, our own lives shall become supernaturally profitable!
- Engaging with the instruction of Scriptures makes wise and will make a star out of any believer. Psalm 19:7. We are told in Scriptures that wisdom is the principal thing. Proverbs 4:7. It is the instrument that makes principal people. If you are going to be a star in the journey of life, then wisdom is a vital necessity. Church Gist. But the raw material for a wise life is the Word of God. Colossians 3:16. So as the Word of God enters the life of a man, it equips that individual with wisdom. Now listen carefully. No matter the intellectual condition of a man, the Word of God is able to make him wise. 2 Timothy 3:15.
God’s Word does not consult your initial condition. No! It changes your wisdom situation. It upgrades you in the school of wisdom. That’s what it does. So as we begin to adhere to God’s Word, it builds us up. Why? The Word of God is God’s wisdom bank. Church Gist. Luke 11:49…He was talking about the Word of God there and he called it the Wisdom of God. So the wisdom of God is located in God’s Word. It is the wisdom of God in print. And when we talk about wisdom, remember, wisdom is knowing what to do and doing it. So God’s Word always gives you a way out of any predicament that you find yourself in. 1 Corinthians 10:13. So the Word of God shows you the way out. It shows you the way forward. It shows the way upward. That’s what makes stars of men in the race of life.
If your star is going to rise, it rises on the basis of the authority of God’s Word. God’s Servant said, the Lord told him, He said, “there is a place at the top for you if you are interested” and he said, ‘Lord, I’m interested.’ He said, the Lord said, “therefore whatsoever I tell you to do, do it.” And He gave him that light from Deuteronomy 28:1. Church Gist. There is a place for you on top if you are interested but for you to get there, you must get committed to the instructions of the Word of God. What that means is that the star in you and in me is simply waiting to rise on the basis of our adherence to the instructions of Scripture.
Now, listen carefully. Everybody that is born again has a star in him or her. If you are a child of God, there is a star in your. 2 Peter 1:19. So there is a star in you. Say with, ‘there is a star in me.’ Everyone that is a child of God, there is a star in him or her. But for the star to rise, we must settle down to take heed to the dictates of the Word. It is working the Word that makes a man a wonder to his world. Church Gist. Working the Word – that’s what makes a man a wonder to his world. If you want to see your star rise in any department of life, ask yourself what does the Word of God say or command concerning this department of my life? It is adhering to those commandments that makes you a commander in that area.
- My prayer today again is that fo each one of us, by reason of the encounter that we are having in this Service this morning, I see our eyes opening to the light of Scriptures that will usher our star to rise in the name of Jesus!
- The Word of God is the Manual that delivers under all circumstances equal or unequal. It delivers under all circumstances equal or unequal. Mathew 24:35…It is dependable. No matter what is shaking on the Earth, the Word of God is the key to stability in an unstable world. Isaiah 33:6. Church Gist. When you know God’s Word, when you have God’s Word, when you obey God’s Word, no matter what is shaking in this World, your life remains stable.
- From now, whatever it is that may be shaking the World, it’s no more permitted to shake your life!
- Whatever it is that is unsettling the World, it’s no more permitted to unsettle your life!
- Whatever it is that is bringing the World into destruction, it’s no longer permitted to bring destruction your way!
It delivers under all circumstances. No matter whether it is equal or unequal, it delivers under all circumstances. I have shared before the testimony of a particular woman. This woman was afflicted in her body and she was told that they were going to have to amputate her legs. So she went into the Word and settled down with the Word and began to eat up the Word until she came across a particular Scripture – Proverbs 3:26. Church Gist. She was seeking a word that would rescue her from amputation. “The Lord shall be thy confidence and He will keep your foot from being taken.” It was an unequal situation but by that singular Scripture, the amputation was escaped. ‘The Lord shall be thy confidence.’ So no matter what seems to be working against you, in the Word of God there is always a way out, there is always an answer, there is always a solution.
- From now, our eyes shall be opened to see it!
That’s why it takes God’s Word to be unshakable and to be stable in a world that is shaking and unstable. It takes the Word of God. No matter what seems unequal, you see every other thing only delivers all things being equal. Church Gist. But we live in a world that most of the time, things are not equal and that’s why we need access to the Word of God because it is the only thing that delivers in every circumstance.
- For somebody hearing my voice today, whatever it is that may seem to be working contrary to you, by the Word of God this month, it shall be overturned for a testimony!
What Is The Requirement For Being Guided By The Bible?
- You must be born again. John 3:3. Until you are born again, you can’t see;you can’t gain access to insight. The foundation of the leading of the Lord is salvation. Church Gist. Until you are born again, you are not a candidate for His leading. John 1:12, Romans 8:14. Until you become born again, you are not a candidate for the leading of God.
Listen to me, you are not smart enough to lead yourself. No man is. The wisdom of man is insufficient to direct his life. We require the wisdom of God. You cannot be led by calculation, you cannot be led by assumption. Church Gist. You must be led by direction. God must order your steps. He must show you exactly where to go in order not to miss it in the adventure of life. But for you to be a candidate for His leading, you must of necessity become a child of God. John 10:27.
- From today, I see each one of us experiencing clarity of direction in Jesus name!
- You must be spiritual. 1 Corinthians 2:14. You must be spiritual. It takes a spiritual man to gain access to the leading of the Spirit. It takes a spiritual man, it takes a spiritual woman to gain access to the leading and guidance of the Spirit. Now, take note of this. The light of God’s Word comes into our spirit man. Proverbs 20:27. So the light can only come on that candle. Church Gist. That means that until you are spiritual, there is no candle that is made available for you to be able to gain access to the illumination of God’s Word. God’s Word is light but the light is there to light our candle and when our candle is not available because of carnality, we are not able to gain access to the light of the Word of God. So we are left in darkness.
- My prayer today is that the grace to maintain high level spirituality comes afresh upon each one of us.
- Be clothed with humility. Psalm 25:9,12. So God leads or teaches those who He qualifies as meek. What does it mean to be meek? It means to be humble, to be teachable, to be correctable. There are so many people today that know the Word of God but they cannot be corrected by the Word of God. Church Gist. They are not amendable to what God’s Word demands and therefore the Word cannot make an impact on their lives. If you are going to gain access to the guidance of the Word of God, you must maintain a meek and a quiet spirit. James 1:21. So it takes meekness to receive.
If you are going to be able to receive what God is showing per time, it will take meekness. Meekness is required to receive the Word. Church Gist. Numbers 12:3…no wonder you kept hearing God leading Moses, ‘and the Lord said,’ ‘and the Lord said; ‘and the Lord said.’ God is always looking for meek and humble men to speak to.
How Does The Bible Guide The Believer?
- The Word shows the right way to go in every aspect of our lives. It shows the right way to go. Psalm 119:105. It shows you the right way to go. Concerning your marriage, it shows you the way to go. Concerning raising your children, it shows you the way to go. Church Gist. Concerning your business, it shows you the way to go. Every department of life has an instruction in the Word.
That’s why God’s Servant has told us over and again, ‘break your life into various subjects or departments and then take the Word and settle down concerning that area to find light in that department of life.’ Church Gist. If there is any area of life that is challenged, just settle down with the Word. In your family, there is trouble – you, husband and wife just going back and forth – settle down with the Word of God. As you settle down with it, if your heart is opened, the Word will show you what it takes to dissolve that pressure.
Some years ago, a couple came to see me, both of them very tense. When they entered the room, two of them were so hot and angry with one another. I know that this counseling we cannot do it now because there will be an issue. The way they came in, you know they came in ready to fight and there is no way they can be fighting with me there. So I told them, I said listen, very simple assignment I’m going to give you – if you do this assignment with all your heart, come back to see me in 2 weeks. So I gave them a task from Galatians 5:22-23 (the fruits of the Spirit). I said, look here is what I want you to do. Take the fruit of the Spirit, each one of them, one day for one fruit. Just take that fruit, study everything that you can find in the Bible about that fruit. Meditate on it all through the day and decide one way you are going to manifest that fruit as an individual for that day and manifest that fruit that way from the morning till the evening. Church Gist. Don’t talk to each other about it. When you get back home, discuss now what you have found in the night about that fruit and ask the other person what they saw in you manifesting that day. Because the Bible said, ‘by their fruit, you shall know them.’ If you say, it is love that you studied today, how did the person see love in you that day? Ask them (him or her). I said, 2 weeks after that, come back and see me. When they came back, no need for counseling. You know why? As soon as they settled with the Word, the pressure was bursted.
You see, many things in our lives that seem to be out of course because we have not settled down with God’s Word. There is no department of life that does not have an answer in the Book called the Bible. Church Gist. This is so important. So we must come to the point of recognizing that the Word of God has what it takes to unveil the right path for our lives in every department of life. So it shows us the right way to go. So it shows the right way to go in every path of life.
- The Word of God reproves and corrects to keep us on track. 2 Timothy 3:16-17. So the Word of God does not only give us doctrine but it gives us correction and reproof. That is, it tells us where we are wrong. It shows us where we are missing it and this is one of the major assignments of God’s Word. Church Gist. The Word of God is not just to show us the provisions made available to us but it is to correct us when we are missing it in the journey of life. It is to correct us. That is the purpose and the assignment of God’s Word.
You are a person perhaps maybe you get angry all the time, you explode all the time, you just erupt at every moment in time and you are reading the Bible and the Bible begins to show you, it said “a man that does not have rule over his spirit, he is like a city with broken down wall.” That is, no defenses. It can be penetrated by the enemy anytime. Church Gist. The Word is telling you, “watch it, that anger is about to destroy you.” And then it corrects your course. So it is there to correct us.
Everytime you look into the Scripture, don’t just be looking for what God is saying will come to pass in your future but look for what it’s correcting in your future. Where are you missing it today? Church Gist. God’s Word is there to show us where we are missing it. Because hear this, there is no way a wrong road will lead to a right destination. So it corrects us to keep us on track.
God’s Servant was sharing with us in the Second Service and he said, how that in the early days of the Ministry, the Church was given an eviction notice in the place where we were using at that time and we already had a site. A site that work had already gone on, 108 pillars were already raised. The logical and normal and appropriate thing to do is to leave where they gave you eviction notice and go to the site you already have. Church Gist. But the Lord said to him, “should this Church go to that site, that would be the end of this Ministry. Should this Church move to that site, that would be the end of this Ministry.” He said, from then, 1987 or so, he said, he has not been to that site. He has never visited. Why? The Word gave a correction. You have laboured there, yes. You have invested there, yes. You have put the pillars up there, yes. But should this Church go there, that would be the end. Proverbs 14:12…so he took another route. So the Word has the way of giving us corrections.
- My prayer today is that for anyone of us that is missing it currently, may the Word of God correct our paths!
Now, today is our Covenant Day of Rescue and I like us to take note of the following truth from Scriptures. Every child of God is a child of light and we know from Scriptures that like begets like. 1 John 1:5, James 1:17. Church Gist. So He’s not only light but those who come from Him are also lights. So everyone that is a child of God is ordained to be a light. This is why we cannot be held hostage by the powers of darkness when we put on the armour of light. We can’t be held hostage by the power of darkness. John 1:4-5. So when a child of God begins to operate as light, they become unstoppable. The forces of darkness are forced to clear off their way.
- I pray for somebody here today, every force of darkness that may have been standing before you obstructing your progress, obstructing your testimony, obstructing your breakthrough, today they shall be cleared off the way!
Now when Jesus, the pattern Son came as the Light of the World and walked here on the Earth, the powers of darkness could not stand Him. They couldn’t stand in His way. Luke 4:34. When they saw Him, they saw Him coming to destroy them. They couldn’t intimidate Him, they couldn’t stand in His way. Luke 8:28. Church Gist. So when the Light came, darkness had to bow out. If that is the case, then that means if you and I are lighted, then darkness has no option but to bow out concerning our case.
- From now, that will become your own experience in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!
- Everything that has been trying to hold you captive, as the light of God breaks forth in your direction, every such force shall be caused to bow in the name of Jesus Christ!
What that means is access to light is the only way to be free from the assault of the powers of darkness. Access to light is the only way to be free. Church Gist. Isaiah 60:1-3. When the light of God breaks forth in the life of a person, that individual is able to dominate the forces of darkness.
- From today, every force of darkness that may have been standing on your way shall be brought under subjection in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!
But this light that we require comes by the Word of God. It is the entrance for the Word that gives light and dominion of light over darkness is always unquestionable. It is the entrance of the Word that gives light. Psalm 119:130. When the Word of God enters the heart of a man, it enlightens that man’s darkness and when light comes, the enemy cannot stand in the way. Do you know what that means? Church Gist. That means anywhere satan is still intimidating you is an area where light is required. Any department of life where satan seems to still be intimidating you, still seems to have the upper hand, what is required simply is light. The light of God’s Word will always shatter the hold of darkness.
- Today, I pray for the outbreak of light in somebody’s direction here in the name of Jesus Christ!
Because when it comes, satan bows without struggle. He bows out without struggle. So anywhere there is a contention…like God’s Servant would say all the time, you know, have you ever seen light struggling with darkness? No! Anywhere light comes, darkness goes. There is no argument. Church Gist. The arrival of light is the departure of darkness. So when light comes, the hold of the powers of darkness are cleared off the way!
- Again, I pray that for somebody today, light will break forth in your direction in the name of Jesus Christ!
Therefore, what that means is that being children of light is not enough. We must not only secure light but we must also keep walking in the light to be rescued from the scourge of the powers of darkness. We must keep walking in the light. John 12:35-36. So we don’t just secure it, we must walk in it. We must do what the light dictates. Church Gist. What that means is that it is putting the Word of God to work (the light of the Word to work) that brings about our liberty from the hold of the powers of darkness. Putting the Word to work (the light of the Word to work) is what causes the hold of darkness to be loose from our lives.
- I pray again for each one of us, that that light will break forth in our direction and the grace to put it to work will come afesh upon us in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ!
Now this is where the Holy Spirit comes in. He does not only empower us to live triumphant lives but He enlightens us to stay free from all assaults of the powers of darkness. He enlightens us – yes. Ephesians 1:17-18. Church Gist. But not only does He do that but He keeps us free from the assaults of the powers of darkness. That means that the enlightenment that comes by the Holy Ghost is also granted to us not just for our immediate liberty but for our continuous liberty.
- The good news for somebody here today is that whatever that captivity may have been in any department of your life, by the light of the Word that is coming by the Spirit of God, not only are you going to be free today but you will be free for life!
- You will be free for life in the name of Jesus Christ!
Furthermore, we discover that the Holy Spirit does not only empower us to be effective witnesses for Christ but He enlightens us to remain steadfast in serving God. He enlightens us. You see, our steadfastness is a product of our enlightenment. 1 Corinthians 15:58. Our steadfastness is a product of the depth of our revelation. Church Gist. God’s Servant said, how that in 1976, the light of Matthew 6:33 dawned upon him. The Holy Spirit opened his eyes to see it and the depth of that revelation has kept him going from 1976. This is 2024 – still on the go for Jesus, still running for Jesus, still in pursuit of Jesus. What drives that steadfastness? It’s the enlightenment of the Holy Ghost.
- For you and me also, as we continuing going in our adventure – 20 years, 30 years, 40 years, 50 years from now, by the light of God, we will still be going strong for Jesus!
This is so important. So everyone of us should expect the Holy Spirit to begin to enlighten our understanding so that we can keep going from strength to strength in our walk with the Lord in the name of Jesus Christ. For everyone that is captive, there is hope because the price for your escape and my escape has been paid. But the key for that escape is salvation. The price for your escape and my escape has been paid, you are not permitted to remain caged. Church Gist. The price for your escape and my escape has been paid but the key for that escape is salvation. What God is telling you and telling me today is very simple. You don’t have to remain in that cage anymore. You don’t have to remain trapped in that situation anymore. You don’t have to be kept captive by the enemy anymore. The price for your release has been paid.
- The good news is that today, you are walking out on the devil!
- Every captivity of hell upon your life, upon your family is broken today in the name of Jesus!
- It is broken today in the name of Jesus!
- The cage is being opened for somebody here today in the precious name of the Lord Jesus Christ!
