1st April, 1989: The Latter Rain Assembly now known as The Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC) was founded by Pastor Tunde Sindiku Bakare as the Church’s Serving Overseer. He said God told him his days at RCCG were numbered and also called him to ministry giving him instructions to his next level and the name ‘Latter Rain Assembly’. Pastor Tunde Bakare pioneered the RCCG Model Parish which today is the largest arm of the RCCG. His assistants were Pastors Tony Rapu, Asuquo Mfon and Ituah Ighodalo. On his departure from the first RCCG Model Parish established by him at Ladipo Oluwole, near Oshodi, Lagos to start Latter Rain Assembly, the members of the Parish reduced from over 100 to approximately 18 people leading to a fresh start by Pastor Tony Rapu. Today CGCC has over 5000 members.


1st April 1896: Samuel Gbadebo Adegboyega is born in Owu, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. Samuel Adegboyega was the first Territorial Chairman of the Lagos and Western/Northern Areas Territory (LAWNA) field of The Apostolic Church Nigeria.

1st April 1973: James Gordon Lindsay goes to be with the Lord. He was a revivalist preacher, author and founder of Christ for the Nations Institute. James Gordon Lindsay took Benson Idahosa on scholarship to the USA and Idahosa soon left to answer the urgent call of God into ministry. Idahosa’s departure was the last time both of them saw each other.

1st April: Pastor Isaac Adewale Oke is born. He is the Senior Pastor, House of Wonders, Sword of the Spirit Ministries, Lekki. He is also the son of Bishop Francis Wale Oke.

1st April 1958: Bishop Joseph Okoruwa Ebhohimen is born. Bishop Joseph Ebhohimen is the Presiding Bishop of Pacesetters Christian Assembly.

1st April 2016: Saint Augustine University holds its Maiden Matriculation Ceremony. Saint Augustine University also known as AUI is a private Catholic-owned University located in Ilara, a town in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Nigeria.

1st April 2013: The Governing Council of Wesley University of Science and Technology Ondo appoints Professor Adetola Badejo for a second term as Vice Chancellor. Wesley University of Science and Technology is owned by the Methodist Church of Nigeria.


1st April 1993: Yoido Full Gospel Church receives a plaque of appreciation at the “8th Anniversary of the movement for Children without Heart Disease” hosted by the Women’s welfare division of Gyeonggi Provincial Government, for its contribution through free heart disease surgery for children since 1984.

1st April 1960: J. T. Kalejaiye is born. He is a Regional Evangelist with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) known for his “Anointing Service” and teachings, aiming to liberate God’s people.

1st April 2006: Bishop Okwudili marries Pastor Ifeoma Eze. Bishop Okwudili and Pastor Ifeoma Eze are the founding pastors of Zion Heritage and Miracle Ministries.

1st April 1548: The British Parliament orders the publication of the Book of Common Prayer (BCP). The Book of Common Prayer is the title of a number of prayer books of the Church of England used throughout the Anglican Communion.

1st April 1745: David Brainerd begins his missionary work among the Native Americans of New Jersey, having previously worked in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. Brainerd passed on to glory of tuberculosis only two years into his work there.
