1 May 1981: On the first May Day declared as workers day/public holiday in Nigeria, Brother David Oyedepo goes on a visit to friends and after realizing they were out, suddenly receives a divine instruction: ‘Seek a quiet place, I want to speak to you’. He goes in search of a place and finds a rundown hotel called ‘International Hotel’. On checking in and kneeling to pray, he falls into an 18-hour long vision in which he received a mandate referred to as Liberation Mandate. This event birthed the Living Faith Church Worldwide which is one of fastest growing Pentecostal churches today. The Living Faith Church is today the largest Church organization in the Earth in which the Founder is still alive.
1 May 1873: David Livingstone, a Missionary to Africa and geographical explorer passes on to glory aged 60 in the Kingdom of Kazembe, (today Northern Province, Zambia). David Livingstone was the first European to cross Africa from west to east and first European to behold the Zambezi River, the Victoria Falls and several major central African lakes.
1 May 1922: The first brick of the Northwest Sixth and Burnside headquarters of the Apostolic Faith Mission, Portland, Oregon is laid by Raymond Crawford, son of Mother Florence Crawford. Forty days later, 9 June 1922, Mother Florence Crawford, Leader of the Apostolic Faith Organization laid the last brick.
1 May 1993: Pastor Sam Adeyemi and Pastor Nike Adeyemi, Senior Pastors of Daystar Christian Center get married.
1st May 1964: Chinyere Gloria is born. She is the wife of Reverend Professor Mosy Madugba of Ministers’ Prayer Network. She is also the Executive Vice-President of Spiritual Life Outreach, Inc., a Multinational, Evangelistic and Missionary Ministry, and the International Coordinator of MPN Apostolic Women.
1 May 1965: Reverend Paul Ebhomielen assumes duty as Secretary of the department of Missions and Evangelism of the Nigerian Baptist Convention.
