11th January 1976: Pastor Benson Idahosa declares that the Miracle Centre of Church of God Mission will not go down and that those who desire its fall will go down. This was in response to the General Murtala Mohammed led Supreme Military Council’s directive that the Church building located opposite the Benin Airport in Bendel (now Edo) State be demolished. The Head of State met his sudden demise about a month later. The Miracle Centre Church stands till date and is neighboured by a Nigerian Air Force Church.
11th January 2017: Church buildings of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries Church in Dutse are demolished by Jigawa State Government. The State Government claimed the Churches were built without obtaining permission as required by law saying that notices were sent to them 3 times to discontinue the development of their buildings. The Christian Association of Nigeria in Jigawa State refuted, stating that the State Government had refused to grant the Churches official registration documents and that the demolition came without prior notice.
11th January 1817: Timothy Dwight passes on to glory in New Haven, Connecticut. He was the 8th President of Yale College and a hymn writer, popularly known for the hymn: “I Love Thy Kingdom Lord”.
11th January 1869: The first African-American Sunday School is organized at the Springfield Baptist Church Augusta, Georgia by Reverend Kelly Lowe.
