5 March 1977: Dr. J.T. Ayorinde, the first Nigerian to serve as the General Secretary of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, goes to be with the Lord. A titan of the Baptist faith in Nigeria, his leadership marked a pivotal era of indigenization and administrative maturity for the Convention, leaving a legacy of integrity and service.

5 March 1963: Pastor Joel Osteen is born. He is the Senior Pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, one of the largest congregations in the United States, and is widely known for his global ministry focused on hope, faith, and the goodness of God.

5 March 1920: The Diocese of the East of the Niger, part of the Anglican Communion, is formally inaugurated as the Diocese of the Niger. Bishop Herbert Tugwell, a key figure in early Anglican missionary work in Nigeria, continued his leadership as the first Bishop of the newly inaugurated diocese, which played a foundational role in the spread of Christianity across the Eastern region.


5 March 2015: St. Augustine University, Epe, receives its official license to operate from the National Universities Commission (NUC). Established by the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos, the institution was founded to offer value-based education, integrating academic excellence with the moral and spiritual teachings of the Church.


5 March 1981: Rev. Mrs. Dinna Osayi was born. She is the wife of Apostle Arome Osayi, the founder of Remnant Christian Network (RCN), and is a vital partner in his apostolic mandate. Her ministry within the network is defined by her steadfast commitment to the RCN vision, which focuses on the restoration of spiritual order and the mentorship of believers in the deep truths of the Scripture.

5th March 1743: In the midst of the Great Awakening, clergyman Thomas Prince, an avid collector of colonial historical records, publishes ‘The Christian History’, America’s first religious magazine.
