17th May 1982: Bishop Wale Oke receives his call into Full-time Ministry. He is the National President, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Presiding Bishop Christ Life Church and Founder of The Sword of the Spirit Ministries.

17th May 1881: The Revised Version (RV) of the New Testament King James Bible is first published in England. This was done by over 50 scholars from various denominations in Great Britain.

17th May 2007: Wesley University Ondo State Nigeria (Formerly known as Wesley University of Science and Technology Ondo) of Methodist Church Nigeria is licensed by National Universities Commission (NUC) to operate as a private higher institution in Nigeria.

17th May 2007: Tansian University, Umunya Anambra State Nigeria is licensed by National Universities Commission (NUC) to operate as a private higher institution in Nigeria. The University is founded by Reverend Monsignor Professor John Bosco Akam (of blessed memory), who was a Catholic Priest and Professor of Philosophy.

17th May 1844: Julius Wellhausen is born in Germany. He was a Biblical Scholar and Theologian known for his analysis of the structure and dating of the Pentateuch.
