2nd May 1981: The Liberation Mandate is delivered to David Oyedepo:
“The hour has come to liberate the World from all oppressions of the devil through the preaching of the Word of Faith and I am sending you to undertake this task.”
The end of an open vision which lasted 18 hours from the previous day, the 1st of May 1981, he saw a roll of afflicted, battered, beaten, tattered and deformed people. The blind, the lame and those in rags were weeping, wailing, groaning and agonizing as a result of pains and pangs and seemingly crying for rescue. Brother David was moved with compassion, sobbed profusely and even joined them in crying, asking “Why Lord?” He heard God respond “But from the beginning, it was not so”. Brother David questioned further, “But why Lord?” and then he got a mandate from the Lord.


2nd May 1870: William J. Seymour is born. He was an African-American who initiated the Azusa Street Revival. His birth occurred in Centerville, Louisiana to former slaves Simon and Phillis Seymour.

2nd May 1559: John Knox, having spent several years studying and writing, returns to Scotland to help lead the Reformation there.

2nd May 1507: Martin Luther celebrates his first mass as an ordained Catholic Priest.

2nd May 1959: Olubi Johnson is born. He is a Pastor and the President of Christian Life Ministries and Founder/Setman of Scripture Pasture Christian Centre.

2nd May 2015: Solomon and Flora Lange get married. Solomon Lange is a Gospel Music Minister and the Lead Pastor of Sweetwater International Ministry (SWIM).

2nd May 1981: Oral Roberts University School of Dentistry is dedicated. However, it was phased out in 1986.

2nd May 1998: Sunmisola Agbebi is born. She is a Gospel Music Minister and the Wife of Gospel Music Minister, Yinka Okeleye.

2nd May 2007: African College of Management is elevated into University status and renamed as Obong University, Obong Ntak, Akwa Ibom State. The School is associated with the Church of Christ and its sponsoring congregation is the Rivergate Church of Christ in Madison, Tennessee, United States of America.

2nd May 1821: William Taylor, a Methodist missionary is born in Virginia. He ministered to miners during the California gold rush and later became a Missionary Bishop of Africa (1884-1896).
