20th January 2017: Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams leads prayers at the inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump as president of the United States. He is the first non-American to do so.

20th January 2023: Marie Wiseborn tagged Moses Bliss to her dance video. On 19th January 2024, Moses Bliss proposed to her and they got married on 2nd March 2024 in Accra, Ghana.

20th January 1976: The constitution of Methodist Church Nigeria is ratified to establish the Patriarchate and Episcopal structure of the Ministry. The First Patriarch of the Church was Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Bolaji Idowu of blessed memory who served from 1976 to 1985.

20th January 1985: Revd. Sunday Coffie Mbang is elected the Patriarch of the Methodist Church Nigeria. He was the second Patriarch and first Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria and a former President of the World Methodist Council. He passed on to glory on 16th May 2023 aged 86.

20th January 1973: The Investiture Service and consecration of Reverend Professor Emmanuel Bolaji Idowu as the President of Methodist Church Nigeria is held at the Trinity Methodist Church Tinubu Lagos State Nigeria.

20th January 2021: The First phase of Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther Mission Center is opened for the training of mission workers. The vision to establish the Center in Osoogun, Iseyin, Oyo State Nigeria came in 2007 under the Primacy of Primate Emeritus Nicholas Okoh and was dedicated by Most Reverend Henry Chukwudum Ndukuba.

20th January 1985: Ibukunoluwa Oluyori (née Beecroft) is born. She is an Admin on Church Gist.
