25 September 2004: Benson Idahosa  University (BIU) holds first convocation ceremony. National diploma degrees were awarded to students on completion of a two-year programme in affiliation with University of Benin, Benin City and Edo State University, Ekpoma (now Ambrose Ali University, Edo State).

25 September 1928: Apostle Ayo Babalola’s spiritual encounter begins at Ikeji Arakeji while reading the whole book of Psalms consistently from night to morning and losing his sleep for about a week with his spirit joyous and rejoicing. The encounter culminated in the hearing of a thunderous voice on 9 October 1928.

25 September: Dr Chidi Okoroafor is born. He is former General Superintendent Assemblies of God, Nigeria and the Founding International President, Intercessors’ Prayer Camp International.

25 September 1789: Congress amend the U.S. Constitution to prohibit establishment of a state Church or governmental interference with the free exercise of religion.

25 September 1872: Peter Cartwright, a Methodist circuit rider, passed on to glory at age 97. His drive and physical stamina enabled him to preach throughout midwestern frontiers for 70 years.
