27 February 1984: For the first time, attendance at Living Faith World Outreach Centre (now Winners’ Chapel) in Kaduna hits 21 people. Under the leadership of Bishop David Oyedepo, this “small beginning” paved the way for a global explosion; by 2021, the ministry had registered over 21,000 branches worldwide.

27 February 0280: Constantine the Great, the first Roman Emperor to convert to Christianity, is born. While his battlefield vision remains a subject of historical study, his impact on the faith was undeniable, particularly through the Edict of Milan and his role in convening the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD to settle theological disputes.

27 February 2012: The Marathon Messiah’s Praise is birthed by the National Young Adults and Youth Affairs of the RCCG. Originally starting as a 70-hour session to commemorate Pastor E.A. Adeboye’s 70th birthday, the event has grown annually in duration. This year, the continuous praise will reach 84 hours to celebrate his 84th birthday on 2 March 2026.

27 February 1945: Pastor Abraham Olukunle Akinosun is born. He served as the President of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Worldwide from 2011 to 2020. Having previously served as General Superintendent, his leadership was marked by efforts to maintain the evangelical and prayer-focused heritage of the CAC.

27 February 0380: Roman Emperor Theodosius I issues the Edict of Thessalonica, making Christianity the official state religion of the Roman Empire. He decreed that all subjects should practice the faith transmitted by the Apostle Peter, a move that fundamentally shifted the course of Western history.

27 February 1838: William J. Kirkpatrick, the renowned American Methodist sacred composer, is born. He is best remembered for composing the melodies to beloved hymns such as “He Hideth My Soul,” “‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus,” “Redeemed, How I Love to Proclaim It,” and “Lord, I’m Coming Home”.
