29th March 2005: Covenant University is rated the best University in Nigeria for the first time with 16 of her courses accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). It was the first time a Mission / Christian University would be rated better than all public universities in Nigeria. Covenant University is currently ranked first in West Africa and 6th in Africa by Times Higher Education ranking of universities.



29th March 1867: The foundation stone for the first Church building of the Cathedral Church of Christ in Marina, Lagos, Nigeria is laid. The first Church building which was a 400 seating capacity Church was completed in 1869 and rebuilt between 1925 and 1946. The Cathedral Church of Christ in Marina, Lagos State is the oldest Anglican Cathedral in Nigeria.

29th March 1987: The Perez Chapel International (formerly known as the Word Miracle Church International) is founded by Archbishop Charles Agyinasare in Tamale, Northern Ghana. The Church is currently headquartered in Accra, Ghana.


29th March, 1788: Charles Wesley goes to be with the Lord. Charles Wesley was an evangelist and brother to John Wesley. They were both founders of Methodism. He was aged 80.

29th March 1887: Ray Palmer passes on to glory at Newark, New Jersey. He was a hymn writer and his most famous hymn was “My Faith Looks up to Thee.” He was aged 78.
