29th August 1998: The Groundbreaking of the Faith Academy, the first secondary school of Living Faith Church which now has about 30 secondary schools . Some 23 years later, on 25th March 2021, another groundbreaking ceremony took place on the same site for The Ark – the 109,000 capacity auditorium of the Living Faith Church after the relocation of Faith Academy next to Covenant University Postgraduate School at the cost of ₦4.5 billion ($9 million). The Ark is set to be the largest air conditioned temple in the world.



29th August 1998: Foundation laying/groundbreaking of Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland is done by Bishop David Oyedepo. The Construction of the 50,000-seat capacity Sanctuary called Faith Tabernacle (announced by the Guinness World Records in January 2008 as the largest church auditorium on planet earth at the time) commenced on 18th September 1998 and was built and dedicated on 18 September 1999 (exactly one year later).


29th August 1792: Charles Grandison Finney is born. He was an American Presbyterian minister and leader in the Second Great Awakening in the United States. He passed on to glory aged 82.

29th August 1965: Francis Cardinal Arinze is consecrated Bishop. He was 32 years 10 months at this time being born 1st November 1932 making him the youngest Catholic Bishop in the World at that time.

29th August 1853: Rev. Thomas Jefferson Bowen, a Baptist Missionary, who had gone back to the USA due to recurrent ill health returns back to Nigeria with his new wife, Laurenna after a year.

29th August 2005: Reverend (Professor) Ishaya Audu passes on to glory at the age of 78. He was the founder of the Charity and Faith Missions (Victory Assembly) Inc. and the first indigenous Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University. He was also the Vice Presidential candidate of the Nigerian People’s Party running with Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe as its presidential candidate during the second republic in the 1979 presidential Elections. He later became External Affairs Minister under President Shehu Shagari before going into ministry.

29th August 1981: Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo weds Pastor Yemisi. Pastor Yemisi was the daughter of the Resident Pastor of Foursquare Gospel Church, Somolu, Lagos whom Pastor Mathew served as his Assistant. Their marriage is blessed with two sons.

29th August, 2021: History was made on Sunday, as The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Youth Province 6, Kaduna State, dedicated Four new parishes. The dedication was performed by the Continental Overseer, Pastor E.A Odeyemi and assisted by the Pastor in charge of Youth Province 6, Pastor Sola Owoeye, also in attendance are the senior Pastors of the Province, the church of Jesus is marching on.
