31st January: Apostle Segun Obadje is born. He is the Founder of God’s Love Tabernacle International Church and President of Segun Obadje Teaching Ministries. He is married to Pastor Olufunke Obadje and their union is blessed with wonderful children.
31st January, 1892: Charles Haddon Spurgeon goes to be with the Lord. He was an English Baptist Preacher and Pastor of the New Park Street Chapel (later called Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London, United Kingdom. He was aged 58.
31st January, 2020: The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) commences a 3-day fasting and prayer against insecurity and the killing of Christians in Nigeria. The fasting was led by the then CAN President, Reverend Samson Ayokunle.
31st January, 1974: Episcopal Synod of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) holds at Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria. Resolution was made to set in motion the process of becoming an autonomous Province within the Anglican Communion. This led to the inauguration of the ‘Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion’ in 1979.
31st January, 1994: The Apostolic Church, Lagos and Western/Northern Areas (LAWNA) Bible School, Jos is established. Its mission is to produce committed Christian men and women who are sound in character and skillful in the proclamation of the Word of God.
31st January, 1939: Josiah Mtekateka is ordained as a deacon. He overcame racism to become the first Black African Bishop of the Anglican Church in Malawi when he was ordained a bishop in 1965. He passed on to glory at the age of 93.
31st January, 1994: Reverend Jacob Olawale Omoniyi goes to be with the Lord. He was the first Chairman of Oyo West Baptist Conference (OWBC) and was very instrumental in the formative stage of its development. He was aged 72.
31st January: Yoido Full Gospel Church holds her inaugural worship service in the new 12,000-seater auditorium. It is the largest Pentecostal church in South Korea, affiliated with the Assemblies of God on Yeouido (Yoi Island) in Seoul, with about 480,000 members.
