31st October 1517: Martin Luther nails his 95 Theses, a document that sparked a theological debate that fueled the Reformation and challenged the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church on penance, the authority of the Pope and indulgence.

31st October 2010: Al Qaeda terrorists besiege Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Baghdad, Iraq, killing over 58 people, including a three year old boy who pleads with them to stop killing.

31st October 2018: Pastor Taiwo Odukoya of blessed memory lays the foundation for the new Church facility of The City of Light Church, a 5,000-seater capacity auditorium, located at 2/4 Shaki Crescent, Surulere, Lagos. The City of Life Church was founded by Pastor Bayo Babalola and his wife, Pastor Bunmi Babalola on 30th April, 1995.

31st October, 1877: Samuel Schereschewsky is consecrated Anglican Bishop of Shanghai. Developing Parkinson’s disease, he will resign his position, and spend the rest of his life completing a translation of the Bible into Wenli (a Chinese dialect), typing hundreds of pages with the one finger that he could still move.
