4th December 1893: The first three missionaries of the Sudan Interior Missions (SIM): Thomas Kent, Walter Gowans and Rowland Bingham arrive in Badagry Lagos, Nigeria. Their labour initiated the formation of the Evangelical Church of West Africa which was officially founded in 1954 and renamed as Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in 2011.

4th December 2021: A Federal High Court dismisses CAN’s (Christian Association of Nigeria) suit challenging the Federal Government over CAMA (Companies and Allied Matters Act) for technical reasons. The Act makes it possible for CAMA officials to take over a Church, appoint a Bishop, Overseers or Executive Director of their choice and even decide what sermon should be disseminated. The case was later represented and won in favour of the Christian Body in 2023 where religious bodies were exempted from some sections of the Act making it impossible for CAMA to interfere with religious activities.

4th December 1983: Reverend Josiah Olubode Soyinka succeeds Reverend Timothy Gbadebo Oshokoya as the Second African Superintendent of the Apostolic Faith Church.

4th December 2017: The 30th Church Anniversary Convention of Rhema Chapel International Churches kicks off. The Church was founded by Reverend George Adegboye.

4th December 1809: The International Bible Society now known as ‘Biblica’ was founded in New York City to meet the spiritual needs of the City and provide free Bibles translated in different languages for mission fields. The International Bible Society published the New International Version (NIV) Bible in 1978.

4th December 1972: Mabee Center Arena of Oral Roberts University Campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma is dedicated. The Arena is a 10,154-seat multi-purpose Arena where conferences, conventions, sport activities are held.

4th December 1854: Mary Reed was born. She was an American Methodist Missionary who spent 52 years of her life ministering to the lepers of India. She passed on to glory aged 89.
