5th July, 1909: Pa Josiah Akindayomi (formerly Akindolie) is born to the family of Eleyinmi and Olaokuobi Akindolie in Ondo State. Pa Josiah Akindayomi is the Founder and first General Superintendent of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

5th July, 1980: Reverend Mike and Peace Okonkwo get married. They are the presiding Bishop and Resident Pastor of the Headquarters Church of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) respectively.

5th July, 1833: Bishop Daniel Wilson, the Anglican Bishop of Calcutta, India, states that the caste system must be abolished in Anglican Churches, citing 2 Corinthians 5:17. The caste system, as it actually works in India is called jati and is related to the idea of lineage or kinship group.

5th July, 1962: Helmut Richard Niebuhr passed on to glory aged 67. He is considered one of the most important Christian theological ethicists in 20th century America, best known for his 1951 book Christ and Culture and his posthumously published book, The Responsible Self.
