8th January 1988: Pastor Elijah Abina succeeds Pastor Reuben George, who went to be with the Lord, as General Overseer of Gospel Faith Missions International (GOFAMINT) after a unanimous agreement by the Church’s Executive Council.

8th January 2022: Salvation Ministries: Home of Success (SMHOS) led by Founder and Senior Pastor, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, holds a Praise Session at the Construction Site of the ongoing 120,000 capacity, Hand of God Cathedral.

8th January 2017: The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) holds a National Day of Mourning against the continuous killings of Christians in Southern Kaduna, Nigeria. All Christians in Nigeria and the diaspora were directed to wear black clothes to their Sunday services, fast and pray for an end to the killings in Southern Kaduna and peace in the Nation.

8th January 2020: Four Seminarians are abducted at the Good Shepherd Catholic Major Seminary in Nigeria’s Kaduna State. Michael Nnadi (18 years old), one of the four abducted Seminarians was later found dead on Saturday, 1st February 2020, while the three other seminarians namely, Pius Kanwai (19), Peter Umenukor (23) and Stephen Amos (23) were released by the kidnappers.
