8th June 1998: Nigeria’s Head of State, General Sani Abacha dies. This was shortly after Bishop Oyedepo had led a prayer based on Ezekiel 11:1-13 in March 1998 at Winners’ Chapel, 28 Raji Oba, Iyana Ipaja, Lagos. The prayer titled ‘…..and Pelatiah died…’ was raised against the junta of General Sani Abacha. Just over 2 months later, the British Broadcasting Corporation announced the death in the afternoon of 8th June of the Nigerian Head of State. General Abacha was on the verge of becoming the life President of Nigeria as the only candidate chosen by all 5 Nigerian political parties in an election scheduled for August 1998.
8th June 1989: Bishop Dag Heward and Lady Adelaide Mills got married. Bishop Dag Heward-Mills is the Founder of United Denomination: Lighthouse Group of Churches. Their union is blessed with four children.
8th June 1878: Evan Roberts was born. He was a Welsh evangelist and leading figure of the 1904–1905 Welsh revival. He passed on to glory aged 73.
8th June 1536: Following Henry VIII’s Declaration of Supremacy, English clergy drew up the Ten Articles of Doctrine of the Anglican Church, the first articles since its separation from Roman Catholicism. The articles are a brief statement of the beliefs and practices of the Anglican Church.
