8th July 1839: John Davison Rockefeller is born. J. D. Rockefeller was a devout Northern Baptist and supported many Church-based institutions. He was philanthropist, Founder of the Standard Oil Company in America, Rockefeller Foundation, University of Chicago, Rockefeller University and funded the establishment of Central Philipine University in the Philipines.

8th July, 1995: Reverend Omar and Pastor Jane Pela weds. Rev. Omar Pela is the Founder and Senior Pastor of House of Grace Church, Lagos.

8th July, 2022: Bishop George Jonathan Dodo passes on to glory. Bishop George Dodo was the Pioneer Catholic Bishop of Zaria Diocese in Nigeria.

8th July, 1741: Colonial Congregational Minister Jonathan Edwards preaches his classic sermon at Enfield, Connecticut: “You are thus in the hands of an angry God; ’tis nothing but his mere pleasure that keeps you from being this moment swallowed up in everlasting destruction”.
