We have been looking at UNDERSTANDING HOW GOD LEADS in our Midweek Services and we are in Part 5 of it today. I like to start by saying that every child of God is a seed of Abraham. Galatians 3:29. Every seed of Abraham is an eagle, is called an eagle, is likened to an eagle. Deuteronomy 32:9-12. He took him up, bore him up and took him to the skies as an eagle. The Lord alone did lead him, there was no strange god with him. As an eagle, He made him ride in the high places of the earth. Church Gist. Here is the thing, no eagle can navigate her way into space by her strength or skill, the eagle rides on the direction of the wind to secure a place for herself in space. So it is with every child of God. We need to secure the direction of the wind to secure our place as an eagle. The eagle simply soars, glides on the wind, not flapping, no exertion of energy by following the direction of the wind.
Swimming against the tide is a risk. There is the risk of drowning. The eagle will lose her wings if she goes contrary to the direction of the wind. The wings will drop. The leading of the wind alone is what secures the place of the eagle in space. Church Gist. In the same vein, no believer can navigate his way into space. All heroes listed in scriptures were guided to the realm in which they found themselves. It is important to learn how to be led by the wind of the Spirit.
Secondly, believers are redeemed as stars after the order of Christ who is called the bright and the morning star. Revelation 22:16. The same Jesus said, “As my Father has sent me, so send I you.” So we are redeemed as stars. And here is what the star said, “I can of my own self do nothing. As I hear so I judge and you can see me in space.” John 5:30. The leading of God is the only way to emerge a star. Unfortunately there are many wandering stars in the Body of Christ. Jude 1:13. Church Gist. You miss your road, you step into the realm of blackness and darkness forever. Darkness and blackness! Everybody needs to learn how to be led by the Spirit so you don’t step into the realm of blackness and darkness. Not knowing what you are stumbling on. Walking through a wildlife park without a guide. Walking into the mouth of a lion.
No one will ever emerge as an eagle that he is by redemption without learning how to be led by the Spirit. No one can emerge a hero that he is redeemed to be without following the leading of the Spirit. That is how important it is. Kingdom heroes are becoming fewer and fewer because people are trying to navigate their way into space without being guided, without being led. Church Gist. It is an impossible task. What I am doing today is not what I thought I would do, it is what God led me into. Where we are today is not what I thought we will ever come to but that is where He led us to. No strength or skill will match divine direction in output. It is God’s own agenda for noiseless breakthrough and sweatless triumph. Just watching your victory on the screen and people think you are the one fighting.
Proverbs 3:5-6. It takes the humble to accept that. Nobody flies a plane by wishing to, you train to. You don’t emerge an astronaut because Papa laid hands on you, you train to. Flying machines into space, you train to. In the same way, we must have to train on how the Spirit of God leads, so we don’t miss our steps in the journey of life. Abraham armed his trained servants, training is part of the Abrahamic covenant. Training whether informal or formal, training is a must for triumph. Church Gist. There are people in Church today that have never read one piece of literature on divine guidance. They are just guessing. Whatever comes is what God brought. Ah! “God would not have opened that door if He didn’t want me to go there.” My friend, fast! People don’t believe in training at all. They don’t believe in it, so they keep struggling and struggling. This trained army went to war and they came back victorious. Training is fundamental to supernatural triumph in the Kingdom, let’s train up.
There are pastors around the world that have never read one book on Church Growth. One! Holy Ghost won’t do anything for you that you have not sat to learn. Some have been struggling with finance all their lives but they have not sat down one day to train up on God’s Covenant of Abundance so they can come out of it. They are just struggling, “I know someday it will work. I am not Papa.” Every eaglet trains to emerge as an eagle. Gets on the mother’s back, the mother flies into the sky, she is enjoying a nice time and the mother removes her back. She starts struggling and in the process developing her wings so she won’t die an eaglet in the nest. Church Gist. This is not an infant church, it is a mature Church so we should go further. It is important to know the essence of learning the way out of every issue of interest to you. The way forward, the way upward, the way out. The Spirit of God is still there but are we tuning up on the correct frequency to hear what He is saying. Isaiah 50:4. Some can hear what God is saying but they will not do it. Your reason notwithstanding, you can’t get to where He said He is taking you to. That’s how important being led by the Spirit is.
I heard a word from God that an army of giants will rise in this Commission of the highest concentration known in history. That means you mention this – oh he’s one of them; mention that – he’s a Winner. Mention in Canada – he’s a Winner; mention in US – he’s a winner; mention in Guinea Conakry – he’s a Winner – by understanding this fact Sir. He led us to this wilderness – he led us and so, water began to gush. Church Gist. When he leads, the difference is clear. Isaiah 48:21. Sir when he led them, their feet were not swollen, their clothes didn’t wax old on them, yet they had no market to go, he fed them twice a day, a nation in motion- no time to plant or reap, but he led them. When he led them the Red Sea gave way. No strength can push away or push back the Red Sea. When he leads, barriers clear the way. You know the reason why? Five reasons:
- When he leads, he goes before us to make the crooked paths straight. He cuts in sunder the gates of iron and in pieces the gates of brass. When he leads he goes before the led. John 10:4-5; when he goes before you – Psalm 24:7. Church Gist. That’s what makes an eagle of a believer – barriers clear the way because God is in front.
- Then he goes with you – Romans 8:31; Psalm 23:1, 4. He goes with the led and that allays all fears.
- Then he works with the led. Mark 16:15, 20.
- He worked through them – Philippians 2:13; Acts 19:11-12
- He works for them – 1 Thessalonians 5:24. He steps in when you come to your wits end to get the job done. That’s why everyone following his leading is merely fronting for him. Church Gist. John 14:10. You have struggled enough, it’s time to come on this wavelength.
- As the Lord lives, no one will miss his step again! If anyone is on a wrong path today, may you be humble enough to take correction! If anyone is about missing it, may you receive grace to escape!
What happens when you miss your path is the darkness and blackness that gets you constantly angry. Church Gist. You’re angry with everybody whereas you’re the one at fault.
HOW TO ACCESS DIVINE GUIDANCE
- By the witness of the Spirit: Romans 8:16 – so he works with our Spirit, we receive the signal of the Spirit with our spirit. Church Gist. So our spirit man must be alive and well to pick the signal from the Spirit of God. Romans 8:14-16. So there’s a communication between the Holy Spirit and our Spirit to pick the signal of the Spirit on which way and which step to take. Acts 16:6-8. You may never hear a word but your spirit man picks the signal – “no, okay go this way.” That’s why it is said, 1 Corinthians 2:14. So we need a robust spirit to pick the signals of the Holy Spirit from time to time. We need to build our spirit man to a point of alertness where he can pick what the spirit of God is saying per time. This is why only men of the spirit can be effectively led by the Spirit of God. Revelation 1:10. You have to be in the spirit to pick what the Spirit of God is saying. Galatians 5:25. Church Gist. You must be committed to walking in the spirit to pick what the Spirit of God is saying per time. He can speak to us at any time, any where, any day.
I was in the bathroom when the Lord said, “Arise, get down to Lagos, raise me a people.” I wasn’t in the prayer room. I was in my study room when he said, “the Word I have put in your mouth, the same commit into writing and of course, the same unction upon the spoken word will rest upon the written word bringing about the same effect.” Church Gist. As simple as that word was, by his grace I wrote Miracle Seed 5 days. I wrote Praying To Get Results 2 days. You didn’t need to re-edit them. He can speak to you at any time, he can speak to me at anytime. So if we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. One wrong step can wreck a whole destiny. You won’t take such step!
Can I tell you the humbling thing? No one will ever outgrow divine direction. No matter the anointing, no matter the experience, you miss it, you miss it. I miss it, I miss it. We shall not miss it. No one can ever outgrow divine direction. Paul the Apostle missed it, he suffered Sir. Church Gist. He met his Waterloo, went down into silence. Haba! So we pick divine signal through the witness of the Spirit and what you do is: if you’re not sure, he said, prove all things, settle down to prove what you’re hearing whether it be of God or not (1 Thessalonians 5:21) and there are parameters in Scriptures that help to validate whether it is God speaking or you speaking to yourself:
Is the joy of the Holy Ghost evident?
Is the peace of God that passes all understanding evident? Church Gist. If they’re absent, don’t waste your time, you haven’t picked the correct signal.
- Through prayer of enquiries: Psalm 37:5. “Lord this is the way I am thinking, am I okay? Am I correct?” Proverbs 3:6. We have the example of David – 1 Samuel 30:8 – prayer of enquiry on the way to go. 2 Samuel 5:19; next time they gathered, he didn’t use the former experience – 2 Samuel 5:23-24. Church Gist. Prayer of enquiry helps to clear the air when there is any confusion. Not all that glitters is gold. Not every open door is God’s door. Many are traps in disguise.
- You won’t fall into a trap!
The person says, what’s this about? Those who are in it, let them tell you what is about. It’s about sweatless triumph, it’s about noiseless breakthrough. Church Gist. Sweatless triumph, noiseless breakthrough! Who doesn’t want that? What’s all this nonsense about? Give me time to think – good luck. What a thinker you are? Amen!
Somebody asked me years ago, “how do you get things done so cheaply in this Ministry?” I said, we do nothing except it’s commanded. It’s not that we have midas touch. No! Church Gist. It is what He commands that He makes happen. Whatever He commands as you receive and believe it, you have committed Him to make it happen.
- May we never miss His instructions!
I know you have a Master’s (Degree) in Accounting and Ph.D in Finance and Budget, if He leads you to go and be selling bread, go there. It will soon become a global issue as you receive it from Him and you pursue it. Church Gist. Life is so interesting. The end time is ordained an era of exploits in the Body of Christ with the rise of transgenerational saints. Joel 2:2-3,7-11…so He makes His Word come to pass. My God!
- May each one be listed among these rising transgenerational saints!
Now the Man, Ezra proclaimed a 3 day fast to seek the right way for them. Ezra 8:22. Now watch, let me tell you this – you will like it. No robber no matter how demonically anointed will enter Canaanland. “L’ati bere ni o” (Since from the beginning o) not that we are now many. When we were in the forest, during construction…when they go my ways, ‘stop that nonsense. Stop it. You can’t dare it. You will fry.’ Church Gist. You are on His way, you cannot be wounded. We were paying raw cash to labourers, sometimes 2,000 of them everyday. All the armed robbers joined them to be working because it’s a no stealing zone. Nobody was going and (you) say, bring your money. No! Who are you? They go to their homes freely, come back the second day, and do their job. All the robbers said, “look, this place, ‘no go area.’ Let’s go and do labour too” (laughs). Amen! When God leads you, your enemies are helpless. Psalm 23:5.
So you find pregnant women (demonstrating) like this going through the streets of Canaanland in the night. ‘Thank you Jesus. Amen. Hallelujah! Amen.’ No fear, no alarm. That’s the wonder of the endtime army. Joel 2:7. You won’t run to cross to somebody else’s…“this is the real thing today, let’s join. This is what they are doing today, let’s move.” Church Gist. You just locate your path, you locate your way and you celebrate God on your path. We saw that in Ezra 8:22-23. They fasted to locate the right way for them. Some have never done that. Because everybody is going to Germany, “I thank God, tomorrow, I’m on my way to Germany” – Okay, bye – bye. See you.
- We access the path of life through praise and worship. Isaiah 30:29-30. That’s why the devil depresses people to rob them of access to the glorious voice of God and it’s very simple to understand. Psalm 100:4, Psalm 16:11. So you can’t access the path of life without being praiseful as a lifestyle. These complaints and murmurings, they are simply complicating your case. Church Gist. ‘Jesus, I thank you. One, for the salvation of my soul. My Heaven is sure, I celebrate you Jesus. Thank you for keeping me on my feet till now. Thank you because it is only my hand that is not working, all the other parts are working. I celebrate you with the other hand.’ You just celebrate God, He will show you how to make that hand work and how to keep you back on your feet.
- Well, what a night! And it’s your night!
Elijah said, it’s time to hear from God, bring me a singer and as she began to play, the Word of the Lord came to Elijah. I went to the mountain to worship (December 1987) I had nothing to pray about. I just went to worship Him. And a voice came down, “my son, I’m pleased with you but what have you brought for me?” Church Gist. The highest romance you can think of. I struck a deal in there that opened a new chapter in my life. I went to worship, I didn’t go to pray. “Everytime, we are going to pray. We are going to bombard Heaven.” They won’t let you enter. Ps. 100:4. If the angel catches you bombarding the…there is a protocol. Come into His gates with thanksgiving, enter into His court with praise. There are angels with flaming swords. Until they see thanksgiving, you won’t cross the first gate. If they don’t see you dancing, you won’t pass the second gate and then you want to get to His presence, “I worship you, almighty God 🎶🎵” – okay, enter. But Lord, I’m pouring my bitterness to you – okay, carry your bitterness to somewhere (else).
Two Proofs of Being Led By The Spirit
- You enjoy supernatural drive. Jeremiah 20:9. You enjoy supernatural drive in the pursuit of such assignment. Church Gist. You are not down today and up tomorrow. You are just on like an auto battery.
- You enjoy divine protection. Exodus 23:20. So you locate His prepared place, an angel goes before you to keep you in the way, let any devil come near, I will clear him. Church Gist. We enjoy divine direction when we are heading for our prepared place in God.
It’s never late to be right. Don’t be deceived by your skill, your experience, it’s never late to be right. No eagle can navigate its way into space without following the direction of the wind. You can’t do it, I can’t do it. Holy Spirit, lead me from henceforth. Correct my wrong steps, put me on the right path all the time. Thank you Lord.
