The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. That means as we let Him guide the way we shall not want. My enemies will have no power over me, he renders them helpless. He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies and my cup runs over in spite of their wrath and anger. Proverbs 16:25. There is a way that seems right unto a man, it weighs so well on the balances but the end thereof are the ways of death. Church Gist. Everybody needs His leading to make the most of His adventure on the earth. I pray that everyone’s spiritual ears will pop open today so you can begin to walk in the reality of divine direction. No guesswork. My prayer today is that God will send forth illuminating utterances that will shed light on the path of every one of us in Jesus’ precious name.
Our teaching series for our Sunday Services is captioned: UNDERSTANDING THE WONDERS OF DIVINE DIRECTION. That goes through the entire month and the unusual is bound to happen in your life because you will be hearing God clearly concerning all the issues of your life. One of us was on board a bus going to the East, he already paid and suddenly got a signal not to go again. He told them he was not going again and they refused to refund his money. He said take my money if you want. Less than two hours after leaving that place that bus crashed and everybody perished. He led him away from death. Church Gist. His leading is ever highly profitable. He is prying on your privacy, He is defending you from horror. When God is the one leading, the journey is safe. In a wildlife park without a guide you are running a risk, you can run straight into the mouth of a lion. We live in a wild world. The dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty. We are of God and we know the whole world lieth in wickedness. We need this guide to make the most of our journey.
The anchor scripture is Deuteronomy 32:9-14. Talking about the eagle. Among the strange things about this bird is that he doesn’t struggle with life. He waits, perches on top of mountains for the direction of the wind and he just spreads his wings and the wind carries her. So the glory of the eagle is not a product of strength or sweat or skill but following the direction of the wind. The Holy Ghost is the wind, so when he leads, he leads into realms of glory, realms of colour. Deuteronomy 32:12. The Lord alone did lead him (Israel) and there were no strange gods with him. Church Gist. Deuteronomy 32:13. He made him ride on the high places of the earth. The Lord alone did lead him not circumstances or economic pressures. There was a famine in the land Lord said to Isaac “Thou shall not go down to Egypt”. It was the natural root of escape. Genesis 26:1-14. He wasn’t going in the direction of everybody, he was following the direction of the wind and the Lord made him ride in the high places of the earth. May you not miss your place. Proverbs 27:8. From a wonder he becomes a wanderer. You shall not become a wanderer.
God is still so much interested in leading people today. It is so much interesting to know that His surest guide is His Word. Psalm 119:105. That is God’s surest path in the journey of life. What must I do to be saved? You find it in the Word. What must I do to stay healthy? You find it in the Word. What must I do to succeed? You find it in the Word. That is the guide. What must I do to prosper? You find it in the Word. People make mistakes, they think everything is by prayer. Can you pray to be saved without repenting? Can you pray to prosper without giving? Can you pray to stay healthy without the Word? Prayer becomes important to know what He wants for you to get what He has provided. We have done that for years, it didn’t add any colour. We were bombarding the gates of heaven and life was bombarding us at the same time. Church Gist. Hosea 4:6. Anointing will never be a substitute for giving in the school of prosperity. There is a prophet in the scripture that died of indebtedness. He used his two sons as collateral and they were coming to carry them after he died. The woman ran to meet Elisha because she told her husband before to go to Elisha. This struggle is not the way to go. ‘No! He is a prophet and I am a prophet’. Elisha is not indebted, you don’t know what he knows. What is your problem? Pride is a disease. It is a killer disease more poisonous than poison. He was a prophet but he was indebted because he didn’t know the way to prosperity. Before you hear His voice, do His Word. It is by doing His Word that He opens your ears to hear His voice.
You can’t experience true favour without a kingdom-priority lifestyle. Seek ye first! Matthew 6:33. All these things others are dying to get you won’t need to pray for them, they shall be added to you on their own accord. That is an explosive favour. Out of this world kind of favour. Psalm 102:13-15. Church Gist. Fearful order of favour is the portion of every kingdom priority believer. Favour keeps pursuing after you, others are praying for favour you are not. It is auto. I pray that each one will see that book, the Bible as the most reliable guide of life. The most effective G.P.S., it doesn’t suffer power failure.
I wasn’t in doubt that I was going to prosper. I wasn’t ever in doubt. If you hear my teachings from the beginning where there was no air of prosperity around me or the ministry, I knew by knowing what He says to do and committing to it and I know He cannot fail. Church Gist. Deuteronomy 32:12. He is not led by circumstances, by peer pressure, by mockers, by circumstances, he is let by the Lord alone.
By way of introduction, just as a sheep will always need a shepherd no matter the age or experience, every one of us will continue to require divine direction all through our journey in life. There is no mature sheep that can make it from Ikeja to Canaanland on its own. You have trained him, that is okay but he must be guided to get here or he will be captured on the way and turned into pepper soup. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture. We are not guessing. When we let Him lead us, He leads us on the path of security, honour and dignity. The problem is now being solved because His Word is the surest guide of life. You don’t need to go to one professional prophet who will tell you “Somebody is about to kill you but if you bring this money, he will not kill you again”. Church Gist. They are all over town, chop chop people and people line up there to collect misdirection. I was on the mountain praying one day and one professional prophet was on one side, it was not far from a military camp so I saw soldiers line up. I was grieved in my spirit, I went straight to him and said “Stand up! Get out of here”. He said what did I do? I said get out of here. All the customers were looking. I chased him out of the mountain and possessed the mountain. I can’t be praying and the devil is manifesting on the other side. I possessed the mountain. All the customers were helpless, they were just looking. After I chased him, they also went away. You have the light of God and the lamp of God, you can see far into your future if you commit to Word practices. In case you have such contractors that are helping you to know what lies ahead, you are missing the road. Psalm 29:3. You can’t make a mistake on where he is leading you.
For instance, if you want to succeed, it is very simple. Four steps on the ladder. Find a direction for your life, If you have the direction get to know how to get there, they call it wisdom, be disciplined towards getting there and be diligent, give it your best towards getting there and go beyond your best, they call it sacrifice. You will not just succeed you will emerge a star. People just play with many things and think they can pray through not doing what He says. The best prayer to pray is Lord what must I do to access what you have provided, what must I do to access my inheritance in you? Church Gist. Because they are delivered through knowledge. It is knowing what to do that gets the job done. We are in for the best of times. I am trying to lay a foundation for the month. You will not suffer wasted labour again. You will not suffer misinvestment of energy again. You will not suffer misinvestment of finances again. It is your turn at last. From this time onward, this your Father in heaven that keeps leading the way forward will keep leading you.
The Lord must remain our shepherd in order to make the most of our journey on this earth. For example, the Promised Land was God’s agenda for His people but getting there required divine direction. Exodus 13:17. This is the vision, I am taking you to the promised land but follow my leading. Don’t look for shortcuts. Church Gist. That way of the Philistines was shorter but God said lest peradventure they see war and return back to Egypt to continue their slavery. He led them not through the way of Philistines although that was short. Stop seeking shortcuts, it cuts people down. Imagine if Joseph jumped slavery from the house of Potiphar and found his way to his father’s house. They would have killed him or seen him as a ghost. If one of the brothers who sold him first saw him, they would kill him quickly. It took only 13 years, after 13 years Joseph emerged on the throne of a strange land where his father, his mother and his brethren came to bow to him as he saw before. It appears circumstantial but that is the way God leads.
After David killed Goliath it took him 13 years to ascend the throne. You would think that he would ascend the throne the following day but no! “The hour has come to liberate the world…” We only saw the first signal of it fourteen years after that Word was spoken when we started broadcasting live to the world. Church Gist. The first signal, fourteen years after. Shortcuts cut people down. The good news is that you have a great future, you won’t sell off your birthright. God showed this building (Faith Tabernacle) 17 years before it came to be. He unveiled it in 1982, he brought us here in 1999. Quite some time but forever it is here. There is no anger of the wicked from hell that can make this place anything more than a worship centre. Whatever the Lord doeth shall be forever.
While vision defines the destination, it is divine direction that dictates the steps to getting there. Numbers 9:15-23. Allow God to lead you, your destination is sure, arrival is secure. Just follow His leading. The reason why people are in a hurry is because it comes in little by little at His pace. Isaiah 48:21. Gushing of water in the desert. Your destiny is sure, you won’t miss it. Any vision without the complement of divine direction will suffer frustration because knowing where one is going is one thing but knowing how to get there is the big thing. You know where you are going is vital, knowing how to get there is far more vital. Not knowing how to get there, you will never get there. So what is the point of knowing where you are going if you can’t get there? Church Gist. So let’s take where you are going as 25 per cent and how to get there as 75 per cent. That is what gives it value. Where you are going is mere theory, how to get there is the issue. Can you imagine somebody travelling out of the country and carrying His money to the airport, with no VISA, nothing! He says I am going to Italy. Is there any plane going to Italy? This is my money. Where is your passport? Passport photograph or what? You won’t fly. You can stay there forever and before you become a nuisance they will call the police for you. You have not followed the protocol for flying. They might even mistake you for a hijacker and go and lock you up somewhere. They might think that you are mad and give you an injection and then you are mad properly. They knew they were heading for the Promised Land but they subjected themselves to His leading to get there and He brought them there in grand styles. You are getting there. No devil will scuttle God’s agenda in your life.
Ecclesiastes 10:15. He knows the city but he doesn’t know how to get there. He knows where he is going but he doesn’t know how to get across.
1. Every believer has a glorious destiny in life.
Destiny is not about what will happen will happen. The destiny of a believer is well defined in scriptures. Romans 8:29-30. Everyone justified by the blood of Jesus is justified to be glorified. Shame and reproach are not part of God’s agenda for your life and my life. Church Gist. Therefore God is leading you out of the realm of shame and reproach into the realm of your glorious destiny. 2 Peter 1:3. A call into the Kingdom is a call into glory and honour. You are called into glory, you will not suffer shame and reproach anymore. Revelation 5:12. It is a sevenfold redemptive package that points to our glorious destiny in Christ. Shame and reproach will never be located in your life anymore.
2. We must recognize that every believer is redeemed to reign on the earth.
Genesis 17:5-7. Kings, not peasants! Every child of God is a seed of Abraham so we have a royal destiny in the Abrahamic covenant. Galatians 3:29. You belong to royalty not slavery, not servitude. Revelation 5:9-10. Every nation, not G5, G8 or G12. Every nation including your nation. Enthronement is our portion in redemption. No one will end his life as a slave. It will take following divine direction to fully realize our glorious destiny in Christ. Next to salvation, I believe divine direction stands out as a great asset in the journey of life. Divine direction may not look sound by divine consideration but it never lacks proof. Church Gist. When God is leading there is peace ( He leads you beside the still waters), there is refreshing (He refreshes your soul), He makes you lie down in green pastures when everybody is running up and down, He renders your enemies helpless as He keeps decorating you in their presence and they couldn’t do anything about it. God’s leading is not theoretical, it comes along with these fringe benefits to prove that God is the one leading. You won’t lack such proof in your life anymore.
Isaiah 55:8-9. God’s ways are the highways of life. 2 Corinthians 11:3. Stop appraising His leadings with your intellect. It never flies. There is no way intellectual appraisal will get us down to Canaanland. Never! It is contrary to human reasoning. You can’t build a church in the forest for people in town. No! It is against all church growth principles I knew. He said that is the way to go. Is it proven or not? We got into this forest before our global impact began to have expression. Allow God to lead you, He doesn’t lead backwards. He leads forward all the time. Church Gist. Don’t just carry money and invest somewhere. Find out first “Jesus what are you saying?”. So you don’t just wreck all your labour of many years. You never miss the road with God leading you, allow Him to lead you. Ever refreshing, ever empowering, goodness and mercy following you every day. Your days of struggling are finally over. The days of regret in your life are finally over.
Following divine direction is a choice. I remember God told me on October 3rd 1983 from Isaiah 48:17, I am committed to leading you if you are committed to following me. Straight! I heard from the mouth of God directly from that scripture. He doesn’t lead Jack and Harry. Our commitment to following Him is what entitles us to His leading. You don’t carry your bag and you are at the airport saying “God should I go?” You have already gone. Thou shall not tempt the Lord your God. You see an unbeliever and you are prepared to marry him “Lord, I thank you for this miracle” Young lady, you are marrying an obstacle. Thou shall not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. Church Gist. You say I believe he will be saved. Okay! You can believe that for life, can you save anybody? Allow God to lead you. Life will become increasingly more meaningful by the day. Allow Him to lead you. It is always interesting and ever refreshing. Don’t settle for what is not working, ask God which way to go. We went on our own on foreign mission in 1987, we laboured for 6 years without expression in one location. I said Lord, what is going on? He said I am not there. When God is leading, He commits His presence. When God leads, His presence goes with the led. Because thou art with me. Church Gist. He said I am not there. Six years of futile labour, same anointing, same mandate but wrong step. I called them on the spot, God just told me He was not there. Be on your way back home now. I went there three times for crusades. I don’t go anywhere for crusades to start a church. Every effort to make it work by force or by tulasi. Swimming against the tide is a risk. I am not there. John 8:29. Following divine direction is a choice, it is not forced on anybody.
Costs of Misdirection
Jonah was sent to Nineveh but headed to Tarshish and ended up in the belly of a fish. Only the mercy of God rescued him. He cried aloud from within the inside of a shark all the wits were all around him. How he was breathing only God knows. He cried aloud and the mercy of God showed up and the fish vomited him on the shore. He must have picked race straight. He went straight to Nineveh. It was a season of affliction. Misdirection can be very tortuous. Jonah 1:1-17. Jeremiah 2:14-17. It can be costly. Ignoring the leading of the Lord can be very costly. Isaiah 42:22-25. There are people going through stress today that misdirection is the cause of their crisis. They are just on a wrong path and they are not going to make an effort to turn around because he will never force his direction on you. Many years ago, we had a very gruesome experience. There was this young man that said he was going on a very legitimate course. His senior sister gave birth and the brother in law said they should help to bring their mother to come and help. Church Gist. He mentioned to me that morning and I said congratulations but how are you going? He said I am driving. Whose car are you using? He mentioned the name and I said No! The way he left me, I knew he was going to go. So I called the man and told him that the car must not move an inch. He said I have given him my word. I said are your words immutable? Who are you? Very gruesome experience. Under two and half hours the young man was dead. One of the ladies that was in the car that was going to help the mom had her belly cut and all her intestines came out. Church Gist. Under two hours of a prompting. I had nothing against his going, he was a good driver. If I knew that would happen I would stand in the way, if he wanted to let him drive on me. That glorious destiny in the prime of his age just disappeared. What if he had that notion by himself? He wouldn’t have gone. Some people will hear something from the Word and act like they have an opinion. You have escaped. Every trap of the wicked to mislead your life is declared broken today.
What are the wonders that accompany divine direction?
1. Divine direction guarantees divine presence.
Psalm 114:3-7. Every opposition trembles at His presence. When you let the Lord lead you, His presence goes with you and opposition clears the way on their own accord. Church Gist. Psalm 114:1-7. Romans 8:31. Allow God to lead you, His presence will go with you and that will make the difference any day, any time, anywhere.
2. Divine presence triggers supernatural breakthroughs.
Psalm 24:7-10. Every barrier lifts their head for Him. When He goes with you, barriers clear the way on their own. Those whom God is leading don’t struggle for breakthroughs, they command breakthroughs naturally. Church Gist. When Jonah got to Nineveh the whole city turned to God within three days because God led him there. From now on you will be experiencing breakthroughs of all kinds in your life.
3. Divine direction renders our enemies helpless.
Isaiah 14:24,27. You can’t stop God’s plans from coming through. Psalm 23:5. They can’t stop it from happening. When God leads, your enemies are helpless.
We draw directly from that on this Covenant Day of Open Doors. God’s presence is our guarantee of supernatural open doors on this journey of life. You can’t be led by God and the door will be shut against you. You can’t have His presence and still be stranded. Today God is putting in your hand, the key to a world of open doors. In the world of darkness that we live in, light is key to unstoppable open doors. The entrance of His Word gives light. Church Gist. Isaiah 60:1-3, 8. Kings will come to you because you are enjoying breakthroughs in a break-down world, doors are opening to you on their own accord because the light of God is at work in your life. Whenever revelation breaks forth, every iron gate shut by the enemy opens on its own accord. You can’t have light and be stopped by darkness. There is no way darkness can constitute a barrier on the path of light. When light shows up, darkness clears off.
What is it that secures open doors in a world of darkness? Access to light and walking in that light. You can’t be walking in the light and you have a barrier installed by darkness on your path. It clears the way. No economic situation in any land can stop the covenant of abundance from working. You are walking in the light of the covenant of abundance, the horror of darkness starts clearing the way for you. The unusual starts happening in your life. You are not down because the world is down, you are down because you don’t have the light that keeps us up in a world of darkness. Church Gist. COVID-19 went wild slaying people at will but he kept us here. When light showed up in the prison, every man’s bond was loosed. The foundation of the prison was shaken and all the doors opened. As light broke forth darkness gave way. From this day as you choose to walk in the light of God’s Word concerning every area of your life, no door shall succeed to be shut against you.
The good news is that whatever door Jesus opens no devil can shut. Revelation 3:7-8. Never think that everybody is happy with us in this ministry. We have so many enemies, we are blessed with them but when your ways please the Lord He makes your enemies to be at peace with you. God will judge someday. He is already judging now. You can’t triumph in the Kingdom by tricks. If it ever happens it is just for a short while. Church Gist. Walking in the truth causes a believer to triumph always in every place. 2 Corinthians 2:14. You are not in a temporal ministry, this ministry is a transgenerational ministry. If Jesus took 2,000 more years to come, this Church will be there in power, authority, in glory with signs and wonders erupting from generation to generation.
The master key to a world of open doors is our love. His presence will open any door no matter who shut it. He that walks in love dwells in God and God in him. 1 John 4:16-18. You can’t stop his way forward, God’s presence makes that impossible. No council of witches can stop the way of a man that carries God’s presence. As we grow in love the Bible says we step into the realm of the fullness of His presence. Ephesians 3:17-19. As you grow in love, you are being filled with His fullness from one realm to another. So your appearance equals His appearance because you dwell in Him and He in you. So the gates don’t lift their heads for you, they lift their heads for Him. What that means is stay in love with God and no door will ever be shut against you. Stay in love with God. Not theoretical love or in words and tongue but in truth and deed. Church Gist. Stay in love in truth and indeed, it is the master key to a world of open doors. You carry His presence visibly and every door opens to you on their own accord. John 21:15-17. It is not I love you. John 14:21. I will show up wherever he is and everybody will know he carries my presence. Matthew 28:20. Being on my mission, you can’t miss me. Don’t sit down for changes to come, seek for what brings changes. Do you know why God is domiciled in our midst? We are constantly in pursuit of His pursuit. Constantly, untiringly. Mark 16:20. When He sends, He goes with the sent. When He leads, He goes with the led. That is the way it works. Church Gist. When God goes with you, every barrier must clear the way. Isaiah 45:1-3. ‘If you let me lead you, I will subdue nations before you plus their gods.’ He goes with you to shatter the barriers. In the precious name of Jesus, no one here will suffer the torment of the wicked anymore. 1 John 4:18. Perfect love secures for you and me the fullness of His presence. You can’t have God with you and be afraid of devils. Your days of fear and terror are finally over.
To secure unstoppable open doors:
1. Be born again, you become a wonder to your world by doing so.
2. Continue to walk in the fear of God like Joseph and you can’t miss His presence. Genesis 39:21.
3. Lay hold on the right Word concerning the doors you deserve to see open. Matthew 16:18. John 8:32.
Lay hold on the right Word. Job 6:25.
4. Remain in love with God.
5. Be committed to following God’s leading.
Proverbs 3:6. Proverbs 14:12.
6. Enter into a covenant to keep serving God and the interests of His Kingdom and He will give you rest roundabout.
He will launch you into a war-free zone of life. Church Gist. You will be living as if the devil were dead.
If you do these things the days of banging on any door are over. As you approach because of His presence, the doors open up on their own accord. Do you remember the drama of Peter coming out of prison? He was coming out and the first iron gate opened on its own accord. The second one opened on its own accord. Church Gist. God was there. He thought He was in a dream. Life becomes a dreamland when you carry His presence. Your days of stress and strain are finally over. His leadings are not an Abracadabra kind of thing. His leadings are in the Word. Welcome to your era of open doors.
– As you stay commited to following His leading, no door shall henceforth be shut against you.
– Your life shall never lack testimonies again.
– His leading will keep decorating your life.
Those who don’t reckon with divine direction can not maximize the leading of divine direction. More often than not, these directions come as corrections. I have given my word. What is your word? Your word is as temporal as you are but His Word is eternal. I would have missed my way several times, access to divine correction helped me out. Psalm 25:9. Those who are not disposed to correction cannot maximize the blessedness of divine direction because it comes more often than not as corrections. It seems so right but you are so wrong. It seems so great but you are going to the grave. It takes meekness of spirit to enjoy divine direction. The first time He led me, to make a left. I said Holy Ghost wait, I think I know this place better than you. Church Gist. He withdrew. I said I was sorry and He began to speak. Isaiah 55:7. Some things come your way that you think they are the best things to do but they are just the worst things to do. What is the safe ground? Just be open ‘Jesus, I am open to you’ and He will keep guiding you. The prince of this world came to Jesus, so he can come to anybody.
– Satan will have no part in you anymore.
– You won’t miss your step in life.
– You will not misinvest your resources.
– You will not misinvest your energy.
– You will not misinvest your strength.
Isaiah 48:17. When you follow His leading, He teaches you to maximize the benefits. Grace to follow His leadings from today, receive it right now.
Put your two hands on your two ears.
– I command your spiritual ears to pop open to always pick the voice of the Lord behind His Word, to pick His voice regarding what next step to take.
– I pray that your ears will be blocked to the voice of the stranger.
– The same God that opened my ears at 22 opens your ears today.
– Your next level Breakthrough is now with you.
– No door shall be shut against you.
– No door shall be shut against your family
– No door shall be shut against your career.
