– Bishop David Oyedepo on UNVEILING THE BREAKTHROUGH POWER OF LOVE at NATAR 2023 Day 3 Evening Session || Triumphant Christian Centre, Ikeja || 7th September 2023.
I will be sharing with us tonight what I have captioned UNVEILING THE BREAKTHROUGH POWER OF LOVE. You will not have to struggle to make things happen anymore. The breakthrough power of love. Supernatural pace setting order of breakthrough is the portion and the lot of every true lover of God. Let me start by saying breakthrough is not the ambition of the believer, it is his birthright. It is not your ambition, it is your birthright. Jesus told his disciples “Ye are the light of the world, a city set upon a hill that can not be hidden”. Church Gist. So we are redeemed as the light of the world, dominating the world of darkness by the mystery of redemption. We are also told that we are redeemed for a glorious destiny. Every child of God has a glorious destiny. People will see them and praise God for their life. Every child of God is redeemed a marvel, it is not your ambition it is your birthright.
Also from the testimony of Isaac, the man waxed strong, he became great and the Philistines envied him. Genesis 26:12-14. Galatians 3:29. So we are redeemed to be envied after the order of Isaac. Church Gist. That is why after NATAR everybody’s stories will begin to change for the better. Because that is our birthright in Christ.
If that is so, why are there so many believers struggling for survival? Isaiah 5:13. Hosea 4:6. They are my people, they have a glorious destiny, they have a mountain top destiny but they are objects of pity, why? Because they have no knowledge. John 8:32. You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. Church Gist. That is what has been happening at NATAR since the beginning, helping to open up people’s understanding to know what belongs to them in Christ and how to access it. You won’t forget this night in a hurry. Something is breaking forth in your life.
There was a hot message that was preached on the day of Pentecost without what to do loaded. They heard the message, it was very hot but they didn’t know what to do. They said ‘Men and brethren, what shall we do to be saved?’ What are you saying for us to do? The Church is moving from the realm of preaching to the realm of teaching. 2 Chronicles 15:3. In those days before they had teaching priests there was crisis. There was turmoil, there was unrest. What preaching does is to warm you up spiritually, what teaching does is to transform your life, knowing what God says belongs to you and knowing what He says you must do to arrive there. You don’t get to know that, you don’t change position. Church Gist. Nothing changes just by merely knowing what God says. You must know what He says to do for it to happen otherwise it never happens. God’s kingdom is a doing kingdom, whatever He tells you to do, do it. He tells us in scripture, what to do to secure the future that is ordinary for us. Luke 6:40. Knowing it is not enough, it is putting it to work believing that makes it work. Matthew 7:24-25. Any heavy rain and storm will bring it down. James 1:22-25. There is a shift from the realm of promises to the realm of covenant. Church Gist. You must have to play your part before God can confirm His Word in your life. 2 Timothy 3:16-17. There are four elements in there – doctrine which are kingdom principles, correction, reproof instruction. It means three-quarters of the Word demands that you do your part. 75 per cent of this book is about you taking correction, embracing reproof and following instructions. If you don’t do it, nothing happens. You can pray and fast till forever, if you don’t love your wife you won’t have a peaceful home. You can pray more than Christ prayed as a wife, if you don’t submit you can’t have rest because my covenant will I not break not utter those things that have gone out of my mouth. You are in for the best of times.
So enjoy the instructions of scriptures because all those three factors will be summarized as instructions. Principles and instructions, that is what make up the Bible. Instructions are 75 per cent of it. If you are not disposed to instructions, you can’t go far in the Kingdom. Deuteronomy 28:1-2. You won’t have to beg me for it, just do what I tell you to do and you will be up there. 39 years ago, the Lord said to me there is a place for you on top if you are interested. I said Lord, I am interested. He said then whatever I tell you to do, do it. Not preaching, do it. You can be preaching what you are not doing, it doesn’t add value to you. Church Gist. That is all you need to scale the utmost height in life. Joshua 1:8. It is the doing part that we are missing out on. We are exchanging doing for begging. We are busy begging God day and night. God please come and take me up. He doesn’t take people up like that. There is what you must do to change position. There is a shift. Church Gist. We are in the era of the Covenant tables of heaven where the covenant on every issue is laid out. When we align with the covenant in every area, we have committed God’s integrity to perform. We are going off the preaching era where you get warm and get warm and can’t tell what to do after the service. The Church has come down to the teaching era where the tables of the covenant are laid out. They are made open. You can see what you must do for something else to happen. That is what we are here for.
Start honouring your parents by giving to them. There is a young man in Church, he heard me say this and he just came back from NYSC. That night he just went to his father and mother to appreciate them and gave whatever he had. Church Gist. The Tuesday that followed, the Heavens opened. He got a job as a manager, just concluding NYSC. “You honour your father and mother, it shall be well with you”. It’s never enough for a non-giver, he’s always looking for more. I remember at the age of 20, the Lord prompted me to present a gift to my grandmother and she looked at me, “you brought this for me?”, It was a set of furniture, “you brought this for me?” I said, “yes ma”. “You shall be great”. Church Gist. I still remember her look, she’s gone to Heaven now, quite a number of years. The blessings of mothers and fathers cause men to prevail where others travail. Learn that early.
1 Chronicles 29:3. When Kingdom promotion becomes a delight, you will never lack. Church Gist. David outgave everybody else in Israel, not from Kingdom treasury but from his private treasure.
– You’re in for the best of time!
When a believer is truly in love with God, he dwells in God and God dwells in him which makes him a breakthrough personality on the earth. God dwelling in you, you command the supernatural naturally. Church Gist. To be sold out to God is to supernaturally stand out in life. You can’t be sold out to God and be stagnated in life, no. The tiniest seed like the mustard seed that is dedicated to God grows up to be higher than all other seeds throwing great branches providing a covering for many. Church Gist. You can’t be sold out to God and not stand out in life. All true lovers of God are sold out servants of God.
Many years ago, we needed 3,000 naira to pay off our Church rent facilities then and I was having a chat with some of our leaders, there were about 6 of them. Church Gist. I said, “If I had this money, God won’t appeal to me to give it but now that we are all at the same level, understand what I’m saying, a time is coming that some of us will take off in the air and you start murmuring and grumbling, ‘we don’t even know what they are using’, let me tell you what I’m using, I’m sold out to God”. You can’t be sold out to God and not stand out in life. People fake a lot of things, you can’t be truly sold out to God and not stand out in life. Church Gist. You command the supernatural naturally, you’re not under pressure, no tension. Things are happening in your life on their own accord.
– that’s the level you’re coming into.
– after NATAR 2023, your story will start changing without pressure!
I mentioned earlier that every true lover of God is ordained a pathfinder, a pacesetter and a trailblazer in their endeavours. Church Gist. I mean, “eyes have not seen”, that’s recording breaking; “ears have not heard”, that’s setting new record; “it hasn’t entered the heart of any man”, beyond anyone’s imagination; “what God has in store for them that love God”. Church Gist. Every true lover of God is ordained a pacesetter, a pathfinder and a trailblazer. 1 Corinthians 2:9.
Any believer who cares to stay in love; it’s not enough to be in love but staying in love. When you’re no longer in love in marriage, the marriage scatters. Church Gist. Christ is our bridegroom, we are his bride. So, staying in love is what keeps us in that marriage. Any believer that cares to stay in love with God will end up a living wonder on the earth as we saw in the examples of Abraham, David, Elijah, Peter and Paul.
We are in the days of the manifestation of the sons of God. Church Gist. Everybody will truly define the difference between those who are serving God and those who are not serving, those who are in love with God and those who are not in love with Him.
– may you be on the positive side of that agenda!
Hebrews 6:12. Don’t be slothful. You don’t go forward sitting down, you go forward taking steps.
– it’s a brand new day for you!
Now, let’s look at those elements, just a few of them that engender breakthrough in our endeavours.
1. Love enhances access to revelation which is the master key to supernatural breakthrough. John 15:15. Church Gist. You can’t walk in that of revelation and not command supernatural breakthrough without sweat. Psalm 119:130. Isaiah 60:1-3,8,15,22. Church Gist. We are in the era of light and love is our master access to the realm of revelation. No matter how hard you study, if you’re not in love, you can’t be his confidant. 1 Corinthians 2:9-11. So, lovers of God have access to the deep things of God. Church Gist. By their love, they become God’s confidant with unimpeded access to His secrets.
Since God showed me His prosperity plan 41 years ago, I have never lacked, I have never begged, I have never borrowed. Church Gist. Light is powerful! There’s no degree of darkness that can challenge the authority of light. Things are going haywire around the world but they are not permitted to go haywire in your life. Church Gist. There was a time in Egypt when everything came down, people were offering themselves to be sold, the famine was grievous but God’s covenant people were dwelling in the same Nation and they began to multiply exceedingly in the same season.
– that will be your era!
Access to light is the key to your breakthrough in a world of darkness and that light shines in darkness and darkness can’t handle it.
2. Love empowers our faith to deliver maximally. Faith works by love. Galatians 5:6. Your faith and my faith will never deliver beyond our love level for God. You’re in love, God is committed. Nobody’s faith will ever work beyond their level of love for God. Church Gist. Paul, that addicted lover of Christ, his Faith always delivers. He was stoned and left for death, they gathered around him to find out, “how are we going to bury this kind of man”, nobody prayed for him, he came back by himself. Acts 14:19-20. Church Gist. He had raw dominion over death. A die hard lover of God, his faith was working like fire.
– it’s your turn!
So, check your love level, it controls other areas of your life. Many are just in love with money, day and night, money, where are you going? Can I tell you this? Church Gist. Before I had my first bank account, I desired before the Lord, “if you ever bless me, I want to be part of building you Churches”, I wasn’t called to ministry then, because I hated to see Church being built for 10-15 years and they are not done and people began to say to the Church, “as poor as Church rat”. It was insulting my Father. My desire was, “Lord, I want to build you Churches as you bless me”. Church Gist. There was a year we built a hundred Churches for my Father. Instead of these balloon financial dreams, begin to engage in Kingdom dreams, God will bless you with a Kingdom boom, blessings will keep pursuing God as you’re pursuing after God.
– can I hear your Amen?
Pursuing money is a waste of energy. For riches make themselves wings and soar into the sky and you’re here running on the ground, when will you catch it? It will just shit on your head. Church Gist. A man running on foot cannot catch anything flying, no.
– May everyone’s diehard pursuit after money be exchanged for a diehard pursuit after God.
Things will start happening in your life on their own accord without stress.
1977, some years back, from the book of A. W. Tozar, “The Pursuit of God”, I came across this Scripture that turned my life on. Psalm 63:8. Church Gist. The Lord said to me there and then, “the harder you follow Me, the higher you fly”. 1977. My journey began early with Jesus.
– somebody is scaling new heights here!
You see how futile every other spiritual engagement can be, from 1 Corinthians 13:1-3,8. Church Gist. No true lover will end up branded a failure – “charity never faileth”. Anointing will fail, prophecy will fail but love never fails.
Matthew 22:36-40.
A God first lifestyle.
A God first lifestyle is what defines love in our context.
2. Love is placing God above all else including self.
God above every other thing including yourself. Luke 14:26-27.
3. Love in our context is a kingdom priority lifestyle.
Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all these things that others are dying for shall be added on to you. A kingdom priority lifestyle. Church Gist. Many may never hit that point all their lives so they keep struggling. Things that should be added, they are labouring day and night to make it happen.
4. Love is denying oneself for Christ’s sake.
Love always carries a cost. God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten son. Until He did that He could not raise many sons to glory. Church Gist. Anyone who claims to be in love with Jesus at no cost to him is faking it. Matthew 16:24-26.
5. Love is a lifestyle of delightsome obedience.
You are not under pressure, you are not being coerced, you enjoy doing what the Word says. It is just flowing out of you. Psalm 112:1-3. Delightsome obedience not coerced obedience, not mechanical or pressurized obedience. Church Gist. 1 John 5:3. It doesn’t grieve you to obey God, you enjoy doing it even when it appears to be at a very serious cost. You just enjoy it.
6. Love in our context is loving what God loves the most. God’s greatest love on earth is the salvation of souls. John 21:15-17. The sheep does not connote those that are in the Church only but includes all that are ordained unto eternal life that are out on the streets. Acts 13:48. We are preaching to find out those who are ordained unto eternal life, reaching out to them. Church Gist. John 10:16. If you don’t have love for the salvation of souls, your love for God carries a question mark. God’s greatest love made manifest to man is salvation. You can’t claim to love him without loving what He loves the most. May each one’s spirit come alive tonight to begin to demonstrate the reality of God’s love in their life.
Five Vital Proofs of God’s Love.
1. If we love God we will love His Word.
Psalm 119:97-100.
When you are truly in love with God, you will be in love with His Word. Church Gist. Not for the purpose of reading but for the purpose of putting to work.
2. If we love God, we will obey Him.
John 14:21. You can’t claim to love without obeying what He says to do.
3. If we love God, we will serve Him.
Psalm 89:20-24. You can’t love God and not serve Him. You can’t love God and not serve His interest. If you are not engaging in serving God, your love for God is questionable. Church Gist. Serving God is not a gift, it is a choice. Joshua 24:14. Serving God is not a calling, it is a choice. If we love God we will serve Him with utmost delight.
4. If we love God, we will love His house.
1 Samuel 13:14, Psalm 122:1-6. Psalm 84:1-7. You can’t claim to love God when you don’t love His house. Church Gist. If you don’t love fellowship, you don’t love sitting down at His feet, then you can’t claim to love Him.
5. If we love God we will be committed to promoting His kingdom with our resources.
Paul said to them in Corinth “This do to prove the sincerity of your love”. True love is giving love. God so loved, He gave. If you truly so love you will give. Helping will be a delight, you are not struggling with it. Church Gist. People don’t lack what they give, they only lack what they keep. Proverbs 11:24-25. Get excited about giving. Let the needs of the needy move you. Let kingdom matters move you. Young people, learn to start honouring your parents by giving to them.
Love enhances access to wisdom from above which enthrones believer on the earth. David, a lover of God, he behaved himself wisely. 1 Samuel 18:14,30. Church Gist. So, the greater love we have for God, the wiser we will become and nothing enthrones in the Kingdom like wisdom and we saw it in Scriptures. Joseph was enthroned by wisdom, God revealed to him the solution to their problem. Church Gist. Daniel was enthroned by wisdom. Paul the Apostle, an enthroned Apostle.
4. Love stirs up our spirit for stewardship, in season and out of season. You’re never tired serving God when you’re in love. Church Gist. You stay in love, serving God is a delight, in season and out of season, when it appears to be working and not working. Acts 26:22. You’re never weary serving God, he stirs up spirit of men engaged in serving God.
5. Love empowers access to the realm of supernatural breakthroughs. This is the love of God that we keep His commandments, His commandments are not grievous and you now see what follows anyone that is keeping God’s commandment delightsomely. Church Gist. Deuteronomy 28:1-12. They all follow simple, sustainable life of obedience. I have said it severally, I’m not surprised that God brought us to where we are today, I would have been surprised if He didn’t because I knew what He said in His Word and what He said I should do to make it happen and I’m doing it by His grace, so it will happen. It must happen. Keep at it.
– your future is bright!
6. Love enhances access to the anointing that destroys yoke. David, a man after God’s own heart. Psalm 89:20-24. The anointing comes on every true lover. Church Gist. We saw about Jesus, Psalm 45:7. To love God gets you anointed above others. The deeper your love for God, the more anointed your life becomes.
– it’s your turn!
7. Love makes the believer indestructible.
– no one here shall die young!
– no one here shall bury their children!
– no one’s life here shall be cut short!
Can God be destroyed? As we grow in love, the Bible said that we are filled in all the fullness of God. It makes you and me indestructible.
– your future will be great!
You’re too young to be writing your will. For who? Who are you writing it for? “With long life will I satisfy and show you my salvation”. When you’re in love, you’re in that realm. Church Gist. You saw the story of Daniel and story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, the Bible say, they possessed a yielded body, inconsumable body. They went through fire and there was no smell of fire on them because God has given them a yielded body. They have stepped out of humanity to eternity, that’s what love does – it makes the believer indestructible. Church Gist. Daniel slept in the midst of hungry lions overnight without a scratch on his body. You know why? He will never pray to another God. You know why those 3 Hebrew boys came out? They will rather die than bow to a graven image. Their love for God changed their body and system.
– There are people here today, the last confrontation you had were armed robbers, it’s the last you will ever know!
– when you’re coming, evil will be clearing the way!
8. Love makes great things to keep happening on their own accord in the life of the believer. We know that all things work together for good to them that love God. That’s what the Word says. Church Gist. When you’re truly in love, God makes all things to keep working together for your good. All things, not some things, not most things, all things. Family things, business things, career things, children things, all things working together for your good. Romans 8:28. Matthew 6:33. That encounter I had in 1976, September 12, I entered into a covenant to make God my reason for living. He has never stopped adding to me what others are struggling to get. Have I ever prayed for car? No. Church Gist. Is it wrong? It’s not wrong. I’m being smarter than that, I know what to do for things to be added to me and I kept doing it without looking back. God’s part is secured, why are you bothered about God, bother about what he tells you to do. I’m still on the street today witnessing Jesus – under the bridge, in the market place. I’m still seeing souls saved today, when I go out for 3 hours, I have a minimum of 300 souls. When you’re in love, you’re in love.
– may this night change your story forever!
You can always check therefore whether you’re in love or out of love. Church Gist. You can always check what your heart is panting after, whether after God or after things but if your heart will be panting after God, you will never lack good things. Psalm 34:10.
– the days of lack and want, they are over in your life!
I close with this very humourous question. Can you imagine anybody truly repenting and Jesus said, “I won’t save you”. Can you imagine? You can’t do what He says without committing Him to perform what He says He will do. Church Gist. Just do what He says. If you will truly repent, Jesus will lavishly save you, He’s been waiting. The love factor is the missing factor why believers are struggling. Be in love and all things will start working together for your good.
