Teaching during the second service on “Wisdom for the Blessing”, Dr. Paul Enenche berated people who borrow to spend so much on frivolities just to impress people.
Speaking, he said, “You know one of the greatest tragedies of life? People borrow money they don’t have to buy things they don’t need to impress people they don’t like. They already have a car that will move them, they’re talking of extra car. I was asked to buy some car sometime ago, they said, ‘this is the latest model of this and that’ and I said, ‘ I have one that I’m driving already’. They said, ‘oh no, this is the latest model of this and that, it’s very good, the price is not too bad’. Church Gist. The question I asked was, ‘if I want to go to crusade now, can it fly me there?’ it can’t fly me there. You’re renting a house and you are parking 4 cars in front of the house and you don’t want the landlord to increase house rent? Every time a new car arrives, house rent increases. He will tell you stories. What wisdom is this? Those two cars out of the four may be able to buy a land even if it is in the outskirts. Church Gist. You may start from the outskirts but you can’t die there. Money you don’t have, you borrow. What is a jobless person doing with a phone of ₦200,000 and ₦500,000? Except if the phone is the business because there are people who do business with their phones. There are things we need to do to still impart some humility in our lives and reality. Church Gist. Even though you live by faith but there are times that claim of faith becomes foolishness. And phone of ₦300,000 is even shadow, 1.something million, say, ‘I want to buy the latest iPhone’. That is your one year salary if your salary is 100,000. Haba, why?”
