While encouraging believers to strive to make it to the top in the affairs of life, Pastor Adeboye shared the reason politicians would do anything to ensure they remain in power. He emphasized that there are advantages attached to being at the top.
He further stressed that those beneath are at the mercy of those at the top. He also cited examples of how politicians can be so desperate to remain in power because of what they derive from their leadership position. They will go at any length to ensure that they are voted for. They even get to the point of begging citizens and even offer to bribe people to vote for them. He went ahead to say that the moment they are elected, they are no longer affected by the harsh conditions that the ordinary citizens go through. He gave an example of the privileges a governor or president enjoys. If they are to pass through a route, they will have to close the road and the people who elected them into office will have to wait till they pass through.
He also cited another example that if there is power failure, it will never get to Aso Rock and if there is scarcity of water, it will never get to the government house. He also gave a biblical example of how David conducted a census without the approval of God and his wrong doing led to the death of 70,000 people. But not a single person died in the palace of David. “Definitely, it pays to be on top; it is not a pleasant thing to be at the bottom” – he reiterated.
