This month is our month of Wisdom for possibilities. In this service we will be looking at PLAN TO SUCCEED.
WHAT IS A PLAN?
A plan is a written list of arranged actions necessary to achieve your desired goals. Habakkuk 2:2. Write the vision also means write the plan. Any plan not written down is a wish, there is a saying, if you have a plan then put it in writing, document it somewhere that what it means. ChurchGist. Planning is very laborious, tedious and meticulous. Some people avoid planning because it’s time consuming. Many don’t like to plan because it takes stress to plan.
One good thing about planning is that it eliminates the wrong people in your life, it takes those who are wasting your time off your way. Planning is bringing the future into the present so that you can do something about it now, planning is simply thinking ahead on paper, thinking ahead on documentation. ChurchGist. A wise man said if you fail to plan you have plan to fail and planning is a non-transferable responsibility of anyone who desires true success. If you want to succeed, you can’t transfer the planning to someone else, you have to plan it yourself.
An adequate and proper planning is what guarantees the completion of any project. ChurchGist. No project can be completed if you don’t plan. Luke 14:28-30. You can’t complete any assignment if you don’t plan. You can’t finish any project if you don’t plan, as simple as schooling is, if you don’t plan you won’t graduate because you will not know when to read and when to play, even if you graduate, you will graduate with a very poor grade. Everything has to do with planning.
Planning is knowing:
What should be done?
Why should it be done?
When it should be done.
Where it should be done.
Who should do it?
How it should be done. That is planning.
When you plan ahead it eliminates stress in challenging times of your life. Every time you’re under stress, check well if you plan. When challenges come, the reason why people are under stress is because they did not plan. ChurchGist. Proverbs 6:6-8. Because of planning the ants know when to come out and when to go in. Stress is eliminated, pressure is removed because they take time to plan their own.
I have seen people running around when their wives want to deliver saying that they want to pay hospital bills. I wonder what is wrong with the man, there is a woman pregnant for 9 months, nobody delivers for just 1 day of pregnancy. ChurchGist. The man did not plan how she will deliver, then on the day of delivery, he will say I am looking for hospital bill, you now begin to wonder whether his sense is okay. I am under pressure, the hospital said I should pay the bill. It didn’t come as an emergency, there is no emergency delivery, it’s poor planning because God gave you 9 months’ notice. You have children that you cannot cater for, is it the devil? You should give birth according to your size. God said multiply, he didn’t say only you.
Why will you have 9 children when you’re a security man? Some will not go to school, there is no prayer about that. You’re a gatekeeper and you have 9 children and you say: I don’t know what is happening, I can’t even train them. No! Your size and the number of children is too much. Even if you’re a policeman taking bribes, will you take bribes every day? Do you know that most senior police officers have fewer children than junior police officers? ChurchGist. Most senior police officers will just have 2 or 3 but the junior men will just keep multiplying. Most sergeant in barracks have 4,5,6,7 children, I have stayed in a barrack before. They have more children than the officers because they just multiply anywhere they go.
If your father was a soldier, you will know that the recruit has more children than the officers. So, some of the children will become armed robbers, because he can’t train them, he can’t use Sergeant salary to train 10 children, it’s poor planning. I am sure you’ll hear something that will change your life today. ChurchGist. In case you’re at that level, God will help you and make you train those children in Jesus’ name.
You know it’s poor planning. In this part of the world your father will have a child at old age and expect the first set of children to train his child. No! You’re not to inherit that, you’re already 60 so now reduce it. You don’t have enough money and you will say my first children I have sent them to school, they will now inherit them. ChurchGist. So, you’ll find out that the man is leaving children as a liability to his first set of children, poor planning.
Proverbs 22:29. When you plan and prepare well, it will determine the quality of your performance. He said: seeth a man who plans well, he will be great. You will be great in Jesus’ name. ChurchGist. Proverbs 21:5 (NLT) Good planning and hard work leads to prosperity. If you want to prosper you have to plan well and then work well. Is that clear? God is a master planner, God did not say I am the almighty God, the creator of Heaven and Earth, I can do all things, he planned. If you check through Genesis 1 you will see planning, before he created the fishes, he made sure that there was water, there was no chaos, there was no confusion. Before the animal came, there was a bush. ChurchGist. Before man came, he planted the garden, you can see order, anywhere you see disorder there is poor planning. Anywhere people run up and down, even in the family, there is poor planning. God took time to plan. He created water before bringing the fishes.
Before wedding there is no much prayer, you must know how much you have to plan your wedding. We have #20,000 and then you say reception we will know how we will do it and it’s not compulsory, they didn’t say thou shall wear a special gown, buy whatever your size can buy. ChurchGist. My wedding suit was #2,000, am I wearing #2,000 suits now? If you want to know how funny it is, the last wedding you attended, do you remember the suit they wore? You can’t remember. So, why kill yourself? Plan according to your size but people will not plan, I am going to buy a particular kind of wedding ring. Only the ring has finished the whole money. Calm down, plan according to your size.

Jeremiah 29:11(RSV) For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil to give you a future and a hope. God himself said I have plans for you, so God plans. Prayer is not a substitute for planning neither is planning a substitute for prayer. There is a place for prayer and a place for planning, you cannot live in a house you cannot afford to pay for, that’s poor planning. Don’t use faith and prayer to cover it, you know your income. ChurchGist. So, go and live in a house of your size. If you’re living in a house where you can’t pay the rent, it’s poor planning. It’s not faith, don’t say I am believing God, you know your income, so go for your size. There is no point in believing and saying that I am having faith. If you have faith then exercise it, don’t worry people. Exercise your faith, every time you go about disturbing people, you’re not exercising faith, because faith looks up to God not up to a man.
Any faith that looks up to man, don’t call it faith again, call it begging. Don’t use style and say that your exercising faith just say please can I beg you? Don’t say that I believe that God will use you, God will not use him. It’s not in the Bible, God didn’t say thou shall beg people, just say I am begging you please, I need something, don’t say I believe God; God will bless you, don’t quote scripture, at that point just say that I want to beg you, please give me some money. ChurchGist. Begging is begging, don’t tell me it’s faith, that is not faith and don’t share testimony that you had favour, you didn’t have any favour, you only begged. Begging is not favour, it’s lobbying, you know people will just turn things upside down and say God gave me favour, God didn’t give you any favour, you begged for it and then don’t share testimony about it.
Jesus planned our future. John 14:2. Do you know that the birth, the crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, before the foundation of the world, ChurchGist. God planned it? The Bible says that thou was slain before the foundation of the earth. So, before even Jesus came, God planned it. Revelations 13:8. So, even before Jesus died, God planned it. He planned the future before he came. May you plan your life.
God told Noah to build an ark but he planned the building. He took time to plan how the ark will be built. Solomon planned the building of the temple, Moses planned how he put the tabernacle. Please, plan your life, don’t live your life anyhow, it’s not wisdom. ChurchGist. Plan everything about your life, plan everything about your family, plan everything about your finances, plan even your work. If you don’t plan your finances, you will borrow. Plan your spending, because it’s those who plan well that manage well, high life without planning leads to borrowing and living beyond your income enslaves you. Proverbs 22:17. Discipline yourself.
Now, one problem with borrowing is that you will pay it back, it’s not free, that’s why it’s called borrow. That is the singular problem with borrowing, you would have to pay it back. Borrowing is emptying your future to satisfy yourself today. The harvest that will come, you’re already taking it ahead of time, that is borrowing. ChurchGist. That is why I don’t borrow, it’s not a sin, I will never borrow till Jesus comes. Is it a sin? No! The Bible says borrow not a few, you can quote that scripture, but I saw in the Bible, owe no man. I made a decision in 1997 never to owe and I will never owe till my time is over. You’re asking, is it a sin? No! But I don’t want anybody to knock on my door that I am owing them. Because owing can make you die quick.
Some people that are mad on the street, they’re not really mad, do you know that there are some levels of debt you owe and you forget yourself, vehicles will keep honking but you’re absent minded. ChurchGist. Some people are even dreaming of the debt they are owing. Plan with your size. Avoid covetousness, most times we borrow because of covetousness. Luke 12:15. 1st Timothy 6:6. There is no substitute for planning. Don’t give your life a magical approach, give it a logical approach. Lack of planning creates room for waste. It draws people into debt. It generates pressure and tension.
When you lack planning, you come under pressure and tension, emptiness and lack sets in. Have value for planning. Say with me: I will have value for planning. Stop keeping company with non-planners, people who have no purpose for living, people without a dream and goal, they will drain you. Non-planners have this negative mentality that what they have is never enough. When you want to know a non-planner, they say what they have is not enough. What you have is always enough if you can think well. ChurchGist. Planning is using what you have to get what you want. People who don’t plan lack the value of time; they are constantly looking for who to blame for their failure. Successful planners are time investors.
Stop procrastinating, don’t say I will plan tomorrow, I will do it tomorrow. Successful people do today what other people think of doing tomorrow. Somebody was talking with me in the office and he said he will do it tomorrow, I said what of now, why don’t you do it now? Why tomorrow? The major reason why you have a backlog of work for many is because you are procrastinating till tomorrow. Anything you want to do; do it. ChurchGist. Procrastination will keep you in the zone of mediocrity. If you want to be a mediocre keep procrastinating, don’t plan how you will leave your life. Just keep saying next year, next year I will marry, I hope you’re getting younger. My friend plan your life, even if you reduce your age, don’t you know your age. Plan your life.
It is not only women, both men and women, there are men who don’t plan their lives, you’re already matured and you’re still playing guy all around. Have you seen any handsome beggars before? ChurchGist. Have you seen any beggar in this world that was complimented to be handsome? Once you’re a beggar you’re not handsome. Young man calm down and plan your life.
Young lady, plan your life, even if you reduce yourself, don’t you know your age? If I reduce my age, if I tell some of you that I am 52 you will agree, many people reduce their age, I know many people who reduce their age. ChurchGist. Most people tell me that I am older than them. I look at them and say are you sure that I am older than you? But I know my correct age, I didn’t reduce my age, this is my correct age. Whatever age I am showing you is my correct age. But I know people who are older than me that are my mates, some are even my Junior. Now, even if you reduce your age, don’t you know your exact age. So, plan your life.
That is why most Nigeria footballers will reduce their age and keep reducing their age, when they say that they are 32 they can’t run again but Ronaldo is still running at 37 but at 32 they can’t run because that is not their true age, the man is already in his 40s.
There was a Nigerian footballer I won’t call his name, he is a twin from his name you will know he is a twin, they have the way they call their names, I won’t call his name. ChurchGist. Now, his own twin brother was already 42 when he was 31, so I wonder how they were twins so he retired early at 31, 32 he retired, because there was no way he could run, Messi mate cannot play football again.
TOOLS FOR EFFECTIVE PLANNING.
If you want to plan effectively there are tools.
Can I play football now? No anointing in this world can make me play football, it’s not a prayer point. If you put me on a field just make sure an ambulance is on standby. ChurchGist. Just imagine me saying I am anointed, Father, I am going to play professional football, as I am going for the training also show me the ambulance, because there is no miracle in this world that will make me play professional football at this age, plan your life, don’t use prayer to cover it.
Just imagine me wearing boots, I don’t mean novelty matches, I mean real football and I’m saying that I know God can do all things, stop quoting scriptures upside down. I know my God can do all things, he maketh the old man to be youthful and then I go into the field with small boys, by the time they dribble you, after 30 minutes an ambulance would carry you out of the field, let him not die on the field. My friend, plan your life. Don’t use prayer to cover some nonsense. ChurchGist. There are things prayer will do and there are things prayer will not do. Let all the anointed men in this world gather and pray for me saying David Ibiyeomie now we pray for you to be young. No way! I can’t play football at this age. So, plan your life.
1) REASONING.
Isaiah 1:18-19. Reasoning is a principal tool for effective planning, many times we say God will do it. No! No! Sit down and reason. Acts 6:1-7. ChurchGist. There was a problem in the early Church, where Peter, James and John and the Hebrew women, how many of you know the story? There was murmuring in the Church, but there was something the apostle said that this is not a reason that we should leave the Word of God and serve tables, they said it themselves not the Holy Ghost, they said No! No! This is not good, we are leaving the main thing God called us to do and we are focusing on the minor thing, it was from reasoning it metamorphosed into appointing Deacons.
Deacon was appointed by reason not by the Holy Spirit. The first-time deacon was appointed in the scripture was through reasoning. God said you don’t have to pray about everything. Okay! Look at my life, am I going forward: you’re reasoning. ChurchGist. What am I doing with this? I am already getting old; is this thing I am doing right? You’re reasoning, no prayers, then you begin to plan your life. It was not the Holy Spirit that said it, it was their reasoning that led to planning.
The prodigal son for instance was very poor, the Bible says and he said to himself, what am I doing here. Say with me: reasoning. Luke 15:17-18. Reasoning brought him out of poverty and suffering and reasoning is of the mind and we have the mind of Christ. ChurchGist. You sit down with your mind and begin to rack it and say why am I doing this?
What is happening to me?
Why is my business not going forward?
Why is my life not going forward?
Why is my husband fighting me every day?
You will reason. Not everything demands prayer.
That man at the pool in John 5, he was there for 38 years, this man was at the pool waiting to be healed for 38 years and you know his problem? He made a statement in John 5:7, he said I don’t have anybody, okay if he had no man who was giving him food? That was not true, because he was impotent, that means someone was giving him food and what stops him from putting his leg permanently in the water, so that anytime the angel comes it makes it easy for him, that is the problem of many people. I wouldn’t have been like this if somebody was there to help me, help yourself. I wish somebody was there. I won’t be like this and you’re crying. ChurchGist. Stop that! Help yourself. Nobody is there but you’re there. If nobody is to help you then help yourself. You know when you don’t plan you look for who to blame and that is the syndrome here in this part of the world, waiter’s syndrome. They are blaming the government, they’re blaming pastors, they’re blaming brothers and sisters, wife will blame husband, husband will blame the wife, I would have prospered if not for my wife. Plan your life. You’ve married the husband/wife and he/she is now a problem, plan your life.
You’re a Nigerian there is no way you can go out of Nigeria now plan your life, you’re a Ghanian stop blaming Ghanian government, plan your life. You’re already born in Ghana, there is no way for you to change it, plan your life. We are always looking for a man to help us, it is called No man to help me syndrome. NMTM syndrome, my friend calm down, all is poor planning. There is always what to do if you plan well. Hello! Hey! Plan well, just sit down and ask yourself questions, reason your way out of that challenge. ChurchGist. Just sit down and reason, what am I doing like this, why is my life like this, why should I continue like this? How many years do I have on earth? You’re basically reasoning, no prayers yet. I’m already in my 40s. Is this how I would live my life? Won’t I plan well, even if I am doing guy man guy man, I am 48, won’t I talk to myself, it’s enough and you begin to put things in writing.
Anytime you wake up in the morning, I do this every day, before you wake up the following day write all the things you will do in the previous day. Any day you don’t write out your plans, watch that day it will be a wasted day. ChurchGist. You will be running around busy but you will not be effective. Write your plan a day before.
In the morning I will get up at this time to read my Bible.
At this time, I will pray.
At this time, I will make telephone calls.
At this time, I will be in the office.
At this time, I will be in my business, at this time I will close.
The reason why people bomb into us and disorganize us is because of poor planning, they don’t have plan and we don’t have plan too and then there is confusion everywhere. When a poor planner meets another poor planner, it will be disastrous. ChurchGist. Stop blaming people for your life, go and plan your life. How many will plan well?
