AS YOU GROW HIGHER IN THE SPIRIT, AS YOU BECOME MORE AND MORE ANOINTED

BEWARE OF PRIDE.

THE WORD I, ME, MINE IS JUST IN THE LANGUAGE OF PRIDE, THAT’S THE LANGUAGE OF SATAN
NO MATTER HOW HIGH YOU GO, YOU MUST NEVER HAVE THE HOLIER THAN THOU MENTALITY.
IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO GOD, IT’S I NOT WE.
HOW CLOSE YOU WANT TO BE TO GOD IS UP TO YOU.
THEY DON’T GIVE MEDALS TO LOSERS
GOD HAS NO GRANDCHILDREN!
YOU’RE EITHER A CHILD OF GOD OR YOU’RE NOT. THAT YOUR FATHER IS A CHILD OF GOD DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU’RE COVERED.

TOPIC : Going Higher (55).
TEXT: 1 Kings 19:13-14.

We will be looking at that section where he said “and I, even I only”. As you grow higher in the Lord, as you grow higher in the Spirit, as you become more and more anointed beware of pride. There is only one I AM and that’s God himself. Exodus 3:14. So, you can understand what happened in John 8:58-59, when Jesus Christ called himself I AM, the Jews were furioused, who is this man comparing himself to God. Because of course they don’t know about John 1:1,14. They did not know that Jesus Christ was the son of God and was equal to God. They believed that the name I AM must be reserved for God and God alone.

When you search the scripture you discover that the word I, ME, MINE is just in the language of pride, that’s the language of Satan. Isaiah 14:12-15. There you hear Satan saying I would do this, I will do that, this is what will happen to my throne. ChurchGist. So, when you find someone always saying I, MINE, ME, you should know that you’re dealing with a proud person and the higher you go in the Lord, the anointed you become, the greater the risk of you saying I, MINE, ME. My church, My achievement, I did this, I did that, I, I.

For example, one highly anointed man of God called Samson. Judges 14:1-3. He said to his parents I have found a beautiful girl among the enemies. What does it matter? Get her for me, for she has pleased ME well (I, ME, MINE). ChurchGist. Judges 15:14-16. When he fought that great battle, when he was brought bound to the Philistines and the Power of God came mightily upon him. Such that the yoke binding him was burnt as fire and he grabbed the jawbone of an ass and the anointing flowed mightily and before you knew what was happening a thousand soldiers lay dead. What did he say? Heap by Heap with the jawbone of an ass, I have slain a thousand men, there was thank you God, there was no reference to the one who sent down the power that destroyed the yoke. ChurchGist. It was ME, I. Even when he was in a very serious trouble. Judges 16:25-28.
When the enemy had caught him and plucked out his eyes and he wanted to pray one more prayer before he died, what did he say? God empower me just one more time. Not that I might bring glory to you, he said so, that you can avenge me of mine eyes. It was I, ME, MINE all the way.

So, when you hear Elijah saying I, even only I remain, you need to learn a big lesson here. You must never compare yourself to others. No matter how high you go, you must never have, what they call the holier than thou mentality. The Word of God says clearly, those who compare themselves among themselves are not wise. 2nd Corinthians 10:12. You see, there is only one true judge and that’s God. ChurchGist. He is the only one that can say who is who, how high this fellow is or how low, only God. I have told you before in the past, if you give a student his answer script and ask him to grade it himself, he will score 100 per cent, because when he was writing down the answer he thought it was correct, it is the teacher going through the script, that will know wait a minute this is wrong. You’re not as correct as you think.

I could still remember years ago, when I was doing my Masters degree and my Professor gave me an assignment and I wrote more than 40 pages on that assignment. ChurchGist. I was glad that I have made a lot of progress and I took the thing to him and he looked at what I have written and on the very first page, he saw an error, on page 1 and all the other pages was just a waste of time, because it was base on something that was wrong in the beginning.

If we ask Joshua, what kind of person are you? He’s going to tell oh by the grace of God I am an extremely successful servant of the most High God. I have done what Moses could not do. But if read Joshua 13:1, the testimony of God himself, Joshua you’re old but there is yet a lot of land to be possessed, you know the meaning of that. ChurchGist. Joshua you’re a failure, you have failed me because I said to you that you’re the one who will deliver all this land to my people, now you are about to die, seeing where you’re.

Anytime you’re tempted to feel proud of your achievement as you go higher, because this is very important, anytime you feel like comparing yourself with others, oh by the grace of God I love God more than these people, oh I pray more, I achieved more, remember Isaiah 64:6. What you consider your best might not even be acceptable at all to God. ChurchGist. You see the teacher, the one who is going to examine your paper, he is a perfect God and he expects perfection. Matthew 5:48. Ephesians 5:25-27. Jesus Christ is coming back for a bride without spot, without blemish, without wrinkles, that’s how perfect you’re expected to be, are you that perfect yet? If God scores you high, if you hear from God and he says well done my son you’ve great, he’s only been gracious.

Romans 9:15-16. God said to Moses: I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion, therefore it’s not of him that willeth not of him that runneth but of him that showeth mercy. ChurchGist. If you achieve anything at all, it’s of the mercy of God, keep that in mind, or God might be generous his mark towards, for example, Numbers 12:13, it was written about Moses that he was the meekest man on the earth, what a great recommendation, but you need to remember the man they are calling the meekest man is well known for his violent temper.

One example, Numbers 20:1-12, God told him to speak to the rock but he turned round in anger, you stiff necked people, ungrateful people, you want water to drink, must we give you water to drink, is he the one giving water? Watch it brother, watch it sister, because you’re going higher, that’s why I am hammering this issue at this period. ChurchGist. I told you a couple of weeks ago, we’ve been on this thing for more than 1 year, it’s time to begin to get into deeper waters.

Having said that, however relationships with God are strictly on an individual basis, not on a collective basis. You’re relationship with God has nothing to do with me, you and yours alone, you and God. So, when it comes to I, that could apply. ChurchGist. In your relationship to God, it’s I not WE. David said the Lord is my Shepherd, it’s between us and God. Psalm 23:1. Psalm 34:1. I will bless him at all times, I am not talking about you, it’s between me and him.

Romans 14:12. When it comes to God accessing you, it’s going to be an individual business. 1st Corinthians 3:13. Everyone’s work shall be tried by fire, not all of us together, it’s one at a time, when we get to Heaven and God is about to reward us, every work we have done here on earth will be put on fire, it’s one person at a time. Remember where we are going there is no night there, so no rushing. ChurchGist. There is no question if time is going. Pastor will stand on his own, the General Overseer alone, the members of the choir alone, the usher alone, one by one. The fearful thing is that the whole universe will be watching and you won’t be able to hide from anyone.

So, how close to God you want to be is a matter of individual choice. Some of you may feel that you’ve already gone too high in the Lord and you’re satisfied where you’re, no problem, it’s an individual choice. Daniel 1:3-8. Daniel said I will not defile myself, it’s an individual decision, when he spoke to his friends and said do you want to join me in purity? Those who agreed to join him joined, those who didn’t want to join that’s no problem. But at the end of the day, Daniel 6:1-3. Because he refused to defile himself, the Bible says he had an excellent spirit, he excelled . You want to excel, you must be poor. ChurchGist. Daniel 6:19-22. The reason why the lion couldn’t eat him is because he was found innocent in everything. It’s a choice. Genesis 39:1-9, when Joshua was faced with tremendous pressure from the wife of the master to commit adultery, he said I can’t do this and sin against God, the wife of the master said don’t worry, I am in charge here, nobody is going to know. Joseph said it’s not a question of who knows and who doesn’t know, it was a question between me and my God and you know the result, he got to the top. Genesis 50:15-21, his brothers still came to bow down before him.

What you love and what you hate is an individual choice. Hebrews 1:9. How close you want to be to God is up to you. ChurchGist. It’s your choice. It’s a choice of what you love and what you hate. 1st Corinthians 9:24-end. Paul said in a race there are many people running, but only one fellow will win and he said I want to be the winner and then he spelt out what he did in order to be the winner.

I used to be a sportsman when I was a little younger and our coach way back in those days in the 1960 at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, an American coach said to us, they will tell you all that matters is just to participate you don’t have to win, he said ask them, how come they don’t give medals to losers? He said you’re going in to win and not just win, you’re going in to be the number 1, he said look, they give gold to the fellow who comes first, they give silver to the second. ChurchGist. He said an ounce of gold costs many ounces of silver, you come third, they will just give you bronze. Do you want to be number 1? Be willing to pay the price. Philippians 3:7-14. Paul said all things that were gain to me I counted them as loss because I want to win Christ. How high you go is determined by you.

Finally, when it comes to the issue of salvation it is absolutely an individual business, let me make it clear, God has no grandchildren you’re either a child of God or you’re not. That your father is a child of God, a true child of God does not mean that you’re covered. No! Ezekiel 8:4-13. If your father is godly and you’re ungodly, your father will leave and you will die. God has no grandchildren; he only has children. ChurchGist. So, if you’re not yet give your life to Jesus and you think I am the son of Reverned, I am the son of Apostle, you could be the son of the highest apostle, you can go to hell if you don’t have Jesus.

So, today if you’re yet to accept Jesus, please come to Jesus now, become a child of God, you will bow your head wherever you are, cry to God and say please save my soul, I want to be one of your children, I will serve you as an individual, I don’t care what others may think, but as an individual I want to be your child, please save my soul.

Prayer: It’s between me and you now oh Lord, please take me higher, I want to go higher still.
