King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Saviour, the healer, the deliverer, the provider, the healer, the all in all. The way, the truth and the life. Glory be to your holy name. Please accept our worship in Jesus name. Tonight as we gather to dine with you, please open doors to us and let your name be glorified in Jesus mighty name we have prayed.
Matthew 26:26-29
The origin of the Holy Communion was in Egypt, that’s when the children of Israel ate what is called the Passover. For 430 years, the children of Israel had been in bondage, the king of Egypt has refused to let them go and has been using them as slaves. In Exodus 5:1-2, God sent Moses to Pharaoh and said to him, “let my people go so that they may hold a feast to me”. Pharaoh said who is the Lord that I should obey His voice and let Israel go. I don’t know the Lord nor will I let Israel go. Church Gist. There were no big doors shutting Israel in, no fixed doors, no fixed gates, but they were in bondage all the same because they couldn’t go and do what God wanted them to do. There are many people who are in prison who are not in Kiri Kiri. They sleep in their own houses, some of them go to work and return but there are invisible doors shutting them in and not allowing them to do what they want to do. In the name that is above every other name, any door shutting you in from your destiny shall be opened this week.
Many miracles followed you know the story. Until Exodus 12, you can read it from 1 to 42 when the children of Israel ate a meal, a special meal, come to be known as the Passover meal and the door was opened unto them. The door of freedom was opened to them. The door to prosperity was opened to them, and the door to health was opened to them. Church Gist. Because according to Psalm 105:37-38, the Bible said God brought them forth with silver and gold and there was not a single sick fellow among them. Tonight as you partake of this meal, your door to financial breakthrough will open. Your door to full health will open.
Thousands of years later, the disciples watched the Lord Jesus Christ as he performed miracles upon miracles and they asked him in John 6:28-29, they asked the Lord, we see what you are doing, how can we do the same? We want to work the work of God, we want to make the lame walk, the blind see, and we want to raise the dead. How can we do these things? The Lord replied to them you want to work the work of God? All you need to do is believe in Him who He has sent. Church Gist. Sir, we believe You are the one He has sent, we believe in You that is why we are following You about. Later on, because He saw that they were not satisfied with the answer, in John 14:12 He said when I told you about believing I should have told you that there is a time frame associated with this. He said if you believe in me you shall do the works that I do and greater works than this shall you do. Then He added, “… because I go up to my Father”. Oh! Now we know that we can’t begin to do the work that he is doing until he has gone to be with his Father. Maybe He doesn’t want us to compete with Him. Okay! We will wait until He has gone to His father but when is He going?
Then there was a meal that has come to be known as the Lord’s Supper – The Holy Communion Service. At that meal, He said to them in Matthew 26 particularly verse 29. He said, “I am drinking this wine with you now. This is the last time. The next time I drink this wine with you, it will be in my Father’s Kingdom”. Oh! So he is going now. Alright! The time has come to begin to do all the works He has been doing. Do you know there is someone listening to me tonight, after you partake of this meal, God will begin to perform miracles through you. Church Gist. It wasn’t long after that, it was a matter of days after they ate that meal that the Bible says “great miracles were performed by the Apostles” to the extent that the shadow of one of them was healing the sick (Acts 5:14-16). Just some days great miracles began to happen through the disciples.
When the Lord gave me the theme for this month and He called it ‘Open Doors’. I rejoiced. I rejoiced because I know that there are some of us who are hungry, not hungry for food, not hungry for cars or houses. “If only God can turn me into a vessel of honour, if only God can use me to perform miracles, signs and wonders for Him, I will be satisfied”. Church Gist. Well! If you are one of those, the door is going to open tonight. The meal, the First Lord’s Supper opened the door to the disciples and so they began to perform mighty miracles.
One thing you must know about open doors is that the door that opens for people to come in, is the same door that opens for people to go out. Because if you read this same story in John 13:21-30, at that same meal that opened the door of blessings and miracle working power of the disciples also opened the door for Judas Iscariot to walk out. He walked out and he never came back to the company of the children of God and not too long after that, the door to hell opened for him as he hung himself. When we talk about open doors, I pray that the Lord will give us the grace to be able to go through that tomorrow. Open doors can open to wonderful things or it can seal the fate of some people, it all depends on whose side you are on. If you are on the side of God, when the door opens, glorious things will flow in. Church Gist. If you are not, then God have mercy. If you are not a child of God, don’t dare take the Holy Communion. I have said it before, it is a powerful meal but it can be a dangerous meal. If you claim to be a child of God and somebody offended you and you refuse to forgive, don’t come to the Lord’s table. The meal can kill just as it can make alive. In the Bible reading today, it says some people ate the meal unworthily and they became sick until they died. If you will not empty yourself of bitterness, every form of anger, every form of unforgiveness, don’t partake of the Holy Communion.
If you eat it worthily, particularly the one tonight, doors will open and glorious things will begin to happen.
Prayers: When you eat the bread tonight, your prayer to the Lord should be “Father open the door of divine health for me”. It is possible to live the rest of your life without a single pain, without a single ache. It is possible for the Almighty God to make you absolutely whole no matter your age. The Bible said after the children of Israel ate the meal there was no feeble one among them including the old ones.
As you drink the wine tonight, I want you to cry to God for power because the wine is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit is opened unto you power comes. Power to do the impossible. So when you drink the wine say “Father, open the door of power to me so I can become a mighty vessel in your hands.
