Thank You, Father! Ephesians 3:20-21. We want to talk about “BEYOND EXPECTATIONS”. Our God is Jehovah El-Shaddai, the God who is more than enough, the God who can do much more than you can ever think possible. He doesn’t know how to do small things. For example, He doesn’t stop when your cup of blessing is full, He just keeps on pouring Psalms 23:5 – He doesn’t give you little little miracles. Church Gist. According to Psalms 68:19, He loads us with benefits, He doesn’t stop when all needs are met, He makes sure there will never be a crisis again. 2 Kings 4:1-7, not only did He pay the debts of the widow, the Widow had enough left to enjoy for the rest of her life. Any time He is dealing with you, He wants to go the extra mile.
-By the way, the Almighty God is going to pay the debt of somebody this month!
Mark 8:22-25.
– In the name that is above every other name, all of you who need a second touch will get it tonight.
He doesn’t just provide wine – in the wedding at Cana of Galilee, He gave the best wine. John 2:1-10. He wanted to make sure that not only would there be no embarrassment for the bridegroom but He wanted to move from embarrassment to glory. Church Gist. He wanted to be sure that the wedding would be talked about not because wine failed but that people would be talking about the wedding where the wine was the best. He made a promise in Joel 2:26-27 that: ‘My people shall never be ashamed’.
-And I hereby decree in the name of Jesus, you will never know shame again.
But not only that, He has a way of changing shame to glory. Mark 10:46-52. Church Gist. The Lord asked me to tell someone: Against all odds, when you are coming next year you will come with your husband. In Mark 10:46-52, He turned the embarrassment of Bartimaeus to glory, I mean he was not just a beggar but a hated beggar but at the end of the day, all those who were telling him to shut up, they were the people who came to call him.
-I decree in the name that is above every other name, all those who have been mocking you, they will come and rejoice with you.
God is not just a helper. Psalms 46:1. Just when you have a crisis He will show up. But He goes beyond that, He is ready to carry you all the way to safety. Matthew 14:22-33. When He (Jesus) was walking on water and Peter said: ‘If you are the one, ask me to come’ and He said: ‘Come’, Peter jumped out of the boat and began to walk towards Jesus. The Bible said when he saw the wind boisterous, he became afraid and he began to sink. And then he cried to Jesus and Jesus stretched out His hands immediately to help him.
-There is somebody here who is in need of urgent help, let me hear you shout: ‘Jesus help me’…and He will help you.
After he grabbed him by the hand, before He said anything at all, He had already got his hand to make sure he won’t sink before he now began to say, “Why did you doubt?” Church Gist. And together, hand in hand, they walked back to the boat. Peter still walked on water till he got to the boat.
– The One who sent me is going to help somebody here tonight and He will help you all the way!
Not only will He stand by you in time of trouble, like He promised in Isaiah 43.
Isaiah 43:1-2. So, you will come out without being burnt by fire. Even when you have a trial, He remains with you, He helps you pass the examination. Church Gist. I know you want to ask the question, “when you know that you’re going to stand by me during the exam, why the exam anyway?” Usually, it’s so that He can bless you double. Job 42:12-17. The Bible said, God blessed the latter end of Job than the beginning because He doubled everything that the devil took from him.
– let me decree to somebody here tonight, every good thing you have ever lost, God will restore double!
He not only uproots mountains, Psalm 90:1-2. The Bible tells us that before the mountains were brought forth, our God has been there but when He wants to remove a mountain, He uproots it. Church Gist. So, He gives you the authority, just believe in Him and then command mountains to move and the mountain will move. I know that there are some believers here tonight, you won’t be here tonight if you don’t believe in God. You won’t come here tonight if you don’t believe that miracles are happening here. Holy Ghost Service started in 1986 and it’s getting bigger by the day because God is here and you know that He’s here and you know He’s a miracle worker. Church Gist. So, I’m going to encourage you that right now, you will stand on your feet and command every mountain that is blocking your way, and say, in the mighty name of Jesus, mountain, I command you, get out of my way!
– I want to prophesy to someone, before you get home tonight, that mountain would have been buried!
I’m sure you remember the story of someone who was doing very well in his place of work and all of a sudden, they sacked them. Church Gist. So, he came to the Holy Ghost Service with his sack letter and God spoke that “there’s someone here, somebody in your family is going to die next week, don’t mourn him because he’s the one causing you trouble and when he has been removed, restoration will come”. Church Gist. By the time he got home, the following week, the father died because the father is the one who said, “the way this boy is going, he will soon be greater than I”, that’s why he caused him to be sacked. His father died and they phoned the boy to come back to work, “sorry, we made a mistake. You should be promoted, not sacked”. I don’t care who the fellow is, no matter how close to you, if he is blocking your way to glory, the Almighty God will move him.
God does not just move mountains, occasionally to show Himself Mighty, He will cause you to fly over the mountains. So the mountain is waiting but you are gone. Church Gist. Isaiah 40:31. I decree to somebody today, every mountain that God does not want to move, you will fly over them.
He doesn’t just give you victory. He can give you victory upon victory upon victory. Church Gist. 1 Samuel 17:34-51. The lion came, David killed the lion. A bear came, David killed the bear, Goliath came and David killed Goliath. The Lord wants me to tell somebody I have given you victories before, I will give you a bigger one. Not only does He give you victory after victory, He can make sure you never have to fight again. He can make sure that all the weapons fashioned against you will not prosper. Isaiah 54:15-17. So you don’t have to worry, if somebody wants to fight let him try. When He promotes, He not only reaches down to the dunghill. 1 Samuel 2:7-9, it tells you He can pick up a beggar from the dunghill. He will keep on raising him until He begins to dine with kings. He said by strength shall no man prevail. He doesn’t just go to the dunghill, He goes deeper down than the dunghill. Psalm 40:1-3. Church Gist. He can even go into the miry clay and bring you up from there.
I have told you my own story: My father was so poor, the poor people called him poor. God went to the miry clay and picked up somebody from that fellow who is talking to you right now. In the name that is above every other name, all those who have written you off will come and bow down before you.
When He wants to promote, He can go to the prison house and bring somebody there and make him the Great Ruler. You know the story of Joseph – Genesis 41. Daddy asked me to tell someone “Get ready for hard work because I am about to open many doors simultaneously.” Joseph woke up in prison as a prisoner, by the evening, He was Prime Minister of Egypt with the authority that every knee should be bowing before him. Church Gist. I think I have told you before that if I were Joseph the moment I got on that chariot of Pharaoh, I will go to Potiphar’s house first. “Hello Potiphar, call your wife out. Let her come out here and let her see me in my glory”.
I have told you the story before that in 1963, Nnamdi Azikiwe became the Governor General of Nigeria. He came to visit Ondo, at that time I was a little teacher at Ondo Boys High School. All of us trooped out to go and receive him. There was one of the old teachers standing by my side. As Azikiwe was riding past in the open car, for one reason or the other he looked in my direction and saw that old teacher standing by my side. He stopped the motorcade and said they should bring the teacher because the teacher was the one who was responsible for expelling Zik from the Secondary School. Church Gist. Now Zik is Governor General and he saw that teacher and said he should come. One man was riding in glory, another one was almost sinking in shame. Anybody who tries to truncate your destiny will watch you ride in glory.
I am talking about this God who can go beyond expectations. He cannot only destroy all your yokes, he can use your presence to deal with the yokes of others. Acts 16:25-40. Church Gist. When the earthquake came, it was not only Paul and Silas that had their yokes destroyed. Every prisoner got loose. Because of you, whoever ‘you’ may be, all the yokes in your family will be destroyed tonight!
He cannot only save the worst of sinners, he can turn him to an Apostle. 1 Timothy 1:15; 2 Corinthians 11:5. The Lord asked me to tell somebody, ‘you will be pregnant this month and not only that, the child that you shall bring forth shall become a great man of God.’ Church Gist. Not only can he save your soul, he can fill you to overflowing with the Holy Spirit so that you can have divine power. Power to witness and power over principalities and powers. He can raise you up so mightily that even angels will become your servants. Hebrews 1:7-14. God cannot only give you a glorious future in life, Isaiah 3:10, so you’re a child of God it is going to be well with you any way. Colossians 1:27. If you have Christ in you then you know your tomorrow is going to be alright. According to the Word of God he has even greater plans for you. Church Gist. John 14:1-3. Now that’s part 1. I believe I have established it that our God does not just do little little things, when he does things, he does it big – beyond expectations. But now let’s talk about application, you know I am an applied mathematician. When we have the theory, then how does this apply to me?
Knowing who your God is should lead you to the following points:
1. Put him first and he will single you out for a mighty miracle. 1 Kings 17:8-16; Luke 4:25-26 – there were many widows in the land but God singled out one for unending supplies. We are many here tonight and Somebody is going to become a world figure. How will God single out that fellow out of this multitude? It will be the one who will put God first. Church Gist. I’ve told you before, when God said, Honour me with your first fruit, he is saying, I don’t need anything I am the all sufficient God. Honour is something you give to someone who doesn’t need anything. Honourary degree is given to somebody who doesn’t need your money. God says, honour me, put me first and see what I will do.
2. Obey him completely and he will heal you beyond expectation. I am happy those of you who were here from the beginning of the week that you have learnt that there is something far beyond healing. That there is something called wholeness. 2 Kings 5:1-14. Church Gist. When God healed Naaman, he didn’t just heal him, he made him whole. There was no scar of leprosy left. Luke 4:27. Naaman obeyed completely and received wholeness. God can single you out for extraordinary blessing.
I’ve told you before, I travelled to Canada for the first time – 1975 or 1976 for a World Conference of Applied Mathematicians. It was in the month of May. May is a very cold season in Canada. We came from all over the world, long queue to register and I was shaking. Church Gist. All of a sudden, the woman in charge of registration left her table far away and began to come down the line. When she got to me, she stopped. “Hello, where are you from? (I told her). What’s your name? (I told her).” She turned back. Few minutes later, she came back with a packet of sandwiches and very hot big cup of tea. I didn’t look at anybody, I finished the bread and drank the tea. Just as I was finishing the tea, she came back. She had gone back to do my registration and gave me somebody to lead me to where I will stay. Church Gist. To you it may not mean much, it was my first time of traveling out of Africa, I didn’t know anybody there but God singled me out, out of all the people for special treatment.
– I decree to somebody here today, God will single you out for special favour!
3. Trade with him and you will see Elshaddai in action. 1 Samuel 1:9-20. Hannah traded with God. God gave Hannah a son, not an ordinary son but one of the greatest prophets in the Old Testament and 5 additional children. Church Gist. When you trade with God, he will bless you beyond expectation. He will show you that he is truly Jehovah Elshaddai.
4. Be hundred per cent committed to His Kingdom work. Work for Him, go beyond ordinary call of duty and He will give you unending promotion. Church Gist. Promotion comes from God. Your boss is a human being, his heart is in the hand of God. The Heart of kings are in the hand of God and He can turn the heart like rivers of water. If God says, “promote this fellow”, that fellow will be promoted but you must be someone who is 100 per cent committed to the work of God. Psalm 57:7
– Daddy says the one who will be referred to as the greatest miracle of this decade is here tonight!
Psalm 57:7, Psalm 34:1, 1 Chronicles 22:7-16, David said to Solomon, “I wanted to build a house for God but God says, ‘no you can’t build a house because you have been a warrior, your son will build a house”. Church Gist. He said, “Solomon, congratulations but I want you to know that everything that will be needed to build a house is coming from me. Daddy says I can’t build a house but I will provide everything that is needed”. Church Gist. God turned to David and said, “because it is in your heart to build me a house, there will always be a king on your throne”. That’s why we hear in Mark 10:46-52.
– The Lord asked me to tell someone, the one who is blocking your vision is already on the way out!
Mark 10:46-52. When Bartimeus was calling, he said, “Jesus, thou son of David”. Church Gist. He referred Jesus to David and today, Jesus is on the throne according to the promise that God made to David that there will always be someone on his throne.
– I want to decree to somebody here today, your promotion will never end!
Do His will, do all His will and He will bless you so much that you will be running away from the blessing. Deuteronomy 28:1-13.
Some years ago, there was this magazine about motor cars and so on and they were ranking the cars, they said Mercedes Benz is the strongest, BMW – the fastest, Lexus is the most comfortable. Church Gist. So, I was asking a friend, what’s wrong with this people? Where did they put Rolls Royce? My friend said, “when they are talking about cars, you don’t want to include Rolls Royce, it’s in a class by itself”. Church Gist. I’m telling you that because God asked me to tell somebody – one day, when great people sit down together and they are talking about greatness, they will point to you and say: ‘Your case is exceptional’.
God says there is someone here today, He said: ‘I will give you 10 years of uninterrupted joy’.
That brings us to the next point: Don’t limit God. Since you know He will do exceedingly, abundantly above all you ask or think, then don’t limit Him. In 2 Kings 4:1-7, it was when the empty vessels that the woman gathered finished that the oil stopped flowing. God told her: ‘Borrow empty vessels, borrow not a few’. Church Gist. And she borrowed but after some time, she felt: ‘This is enough’ and the oil stopped when there were no more empty vessels. I know God feels unhappy when you ask Him for small things, at times you ask Him things so small that He feels insulted. So when it is time to pray, which is going to be very soon, please tonight, don’t ask for small things.
I told you before of my late uncle. You go to him and say: ‘Uncle, please give me one thousand Naira’ and one thousand Naira was a lot of money in those days, my uncle will say: ‘I don’t have’. ‘Ah!! Uncle’ I will come back to say: ‘Uncle please give me ten thousand Naira’ and he will say: ‘I don’t have’. Then when you go to uncle and say: ‘Please I need a hundred thousand naira’. ‘Ehee! Now you are talking. Don’t you know who I am? Asking me for ten thousand naira?’ He came home sometimes and we met him on the way, he branched at the High School that we had in Ifewara in those days, we received him and I said, ‘Uncle, please we don’t have Assembly Hall, we do our assembly in the dining hall.’ He said, ‘Is that all? Have you boys dormitory?’ We said: ‘No Sir.’ ‘You have a place for the girls?’ ‘No Sir.’ He said, ‘You Principal, you have a Principal’s house?’ He said, ‘No Sir.’ He (my uncle) said, ‘Now, let’s sit down and talk. School Assembly Hall plus dormitory for boys plus dormitory for girls and for Principal’s house.’
– It doesn’t matter how many things you ask God for today, He will give you more!
Conclusion: Whatever you do for God from now, do it with all your heart. He will not share you with anyone or any idol. He’s a very jealous God. You want Him to prove to you that He is more than sufficient? You must serve Him wholeheartedly. You add anything else to Him? You are on your own. Be committed to Him hundred per cent. Even by the end of this month, you will testify.
