Father, we give you the praise and the honour tonight, blessed be your name, Adoration to your name, worship to your name. Breathe upon this Word tonight, let not one person leave here the same way. We give you the praise and the honour, be glorified Lord, in Jesus’ precious name.
I welcome everyone here tonight and I believe that God has a word in store for us after which we shall pray and experience His touch.
Channels of Divine Health and Healing Part 2. We started last Wednesday and we saw how healing and health belongs to the people of God. Even though it belongs to us, we must understand the channels that give us access. Church Gist. So, we looked at 7 channels last Wednesday.
- Channel of Storing the Word of God in our heart because the Word brings healing
- Channel of Hearing and Receiving the sent Word. In the first case, you’re studying the Word yourself, in the second case, you’re under the ministry of the Word.
- Channel of Standing strong in Faith. Believing that if God said it, He will do it and moving on the ground of faith to receive your Healing.
- Prayer of Faith from the elders or the Leaders of the Church.
- Channel of Anointing with oil. We saw how the Power of God is communicated and can be communicated by the Anointing
- The Passover mystery of the Communion. The Communion table. This is a channel for divine health and divine healing.
- The Gift of Healing. Where God releases healing gift through His servants to target healing.
Now, we are going to look at 7 others tonight.
- The Laying on of Hands.
Mark 16:17-18. Laying hands on the sick can bring healing. Matthew 8:1-3. Matthew 8:14-15. Whether it’s laying hands on someone who is sick or laying hands on your own body by the authority of Jesus. Matthew 9:28-31. Matthew 20:34. Church Gist. God has helped me in ways where I’m shaking hands with somebody or placed my hand on the back of somebody or something and suddenly an affliction disappeared, I wasn’t aware. I didn’t even pray, just the laying on of Hands. It is called the Law of Contact and Transmission. That is, you made contact with the hand and there’s the transmission of healing or miracle-working Power. Church Gist. Carriers of the Power of God can make contact by the hand and miracle-working Power can be transmitted, and when this happens, it is usually necessary for there to be faith – faith from the vessel and also faith in the recipient.
Oral Roberts in the Healing Revival, what they operated mostly in the Healing Revival was laying on of Hands. You can see one person lay hands on 5,000 people in one night. Church Gist. A time came when they have to sit on a chair and people will be passing and they’re laying hands one by one. The gift of word of knowledge and healing where you stand in one place and say “somebody is healed here, somebody is healed there”, that one was popularized by Katherine Kuhlman and from then on, but in the raw Healing Revival, they had to lay hands on people one by one. Graham ministered Word of knowledge as well and then Oral Roberts said that before he laid hands on anybody, faith was at its peak in his heart and his law was if you’re not sure the person will be healed, don’t touch him. Church Gist. Hallelujah. So, that is the law – the faith inside the heart of the vessel and the faith in the heart of the recipient, produced the result.
I remember one day, a woman brought a child and she asked Oral Roberts to lay hands on the child. Church Gist. Oral Roberts said, “I am tired, I am so tired that I cannot lay hands on this child, most times when I am tired, my faith is weak, my faith is not at its peak” and the woman said, “I am not looking for your faith, I came with my own faith, just touch the child”. Bam! And the healing was instant because there was the faith of the recipient. “I am not looking for your faith, I came with enough faith, just touch the child”. Hallelujah.
Most times, some people place all the faith on the Pastor, or sometimes they place all the faith on the person. Church Gist. The two people must work in synergy, am I communicating at all?
- I believe that somebody’s life here is changing tonight, in Jesus’ precious name.
- Healing Points of Contact.
This is where the healing power of God is transferred through material media. Acts 19:11-12. 2 Kings 4:29. Church Gist. For Elisha to do this means that it has produced results in time past, it was a way in which a person could be healed, where you lay a contact, something that made contact with the body of the Anointed Man or Woman of God as the case may be and it produces healing. Although, in this case, the result didn’t happen because Gehazi discharged the Power inside the rod because of the kind of heart he carries, and there was no result. Church Gist. But, it happens. Matthew 14:34-36. That cloth that he carried was also a healing point of contact. His garment, so we have seen handkerchiefs, we have even seen dresses and a rod that was a healing point of contact. Mark 5:25-29. What is the meaning of all of these? One meaning. First, and that is the Power of God is tangible, according to John G. Lake, is tangible materiality. It is as tangible as electricity, and can be transmitted through material media by the agency of faith. The Power of God is tangible materiality and substantiality. Church Gist. It can be transmitted through material media, we’re looking at handkerchiefs, a rod and a cloth, by agency of faith.
What is the difference between the laying of hands and the difference between handkerchiefs and aprons? Very simple. You have a radio, or tape cassette or DVD player that you can plug to the electricity to make it work or you can put a storage battery, dry cell, which is direct current to make it work. Church Gist. The laying on of Hands is the direct electricity, the handkerchief is the battery, that one has power stored in it. This one (laying on of Hands) is alternating current, that’s the difference. When the hand is stretched on a person, it is direct, when it has been put into the handkerchief, it is battery, so you can take it anywhere and make it work. It’s real and it’s tangible and faith is what activates it and makes it to work.
Many years ago, in the city of Makurdi, a woman had a neck affliction, I think it was not just a goitre, but cancerous, she had been to UNTH. Church Gist. This will be like 20 years ago and in the course of the meeting, I prayed on a handkerchief and gave it to the woman and she began to tie it around her neck and the neck began to dry up. Now, one of those days, the woman washed the handkerchief and placed it outside and she began to watch it because she didn’t want anybody to steal it. And then the handkerchief got dirty but then the thing was drying up, and she said, please tell that pastor “is it possible that I can wash the handkerchief? Church Gist. Because I don’t want what is inside to wash away” I replied,’Yes ma’am, you can wash it!’ Hallelujah!
Someone said that I gave a woman in the Ministry a handkerchief as a mantle, and the moment she placed the handkerchief on her head. Church Gist. After she had prayed for five hours, it was as if she was just starting the prayer. What kind of thing is this! She was praying like she was drinking water! So she said, ‘So this is the realm of this man’!
Because what you carry is what you deposit! She said that everything about her became deeper including her prophetic insight and the Word! Church Gist. She said that the handkerchief has been there and she has never used it once. But the day she decided to use it, everything in her exploded!
It is more like a storage battery and I believe that tonight, somebody’s life is about to shift levels! Amen!
I’m sure that one of these days I will ask that you present those kinds of things before the Lord, any material or media and I will speak into them and prophesy to them, including those that we can make contact with. Church Gist. They will be sent out and be used to cast out demons, heal the sick and raise the dead! Amen!
- The Name of Jesus Mark 16:17, At the name of Jesus, several things bow, including the knee of cancer, tuberculosis and spinal injury Philippians 2:9-11. That is the authority in the name of Jesus!
When Peter and John raised up the crippled man at the Beautiful Gate, it was possible through Faith in the Name of Jesus Acts 3:16.
What is in the Name of Jesus? Songs of Solomon 1:3.
There are two basic things that are in my understanding concerning the Name of Jesus.
First, the Name of Jesus carries the authority of the Owner! That is when the Name is called, whatever happens when the Person Himself is present is permitted to happen! Church Gist. And also the Name carries the anointing of the Owner!
When you say, ‘Jesus’! An oil is released to produce results. That is the mystery of Divine interventions in the midst of accidents.
Many years ago, Papa Oyedepo said that they were in Ilorin, Kwara State town for a crusade. At night, armed robbers came to the hotel that they lodged in. They knocked on the door, broke the door and did all that they could to get in. And he came out with his hand on his waist and said, ‘What are you looking for’? They said, ‘The Money’! Where is the money?’ With the understanding of Songs of Solomon 1:3, he screamed, ‘Jesus’! And they all scattered and took off saying that he has a weapon!
It is not just calling the name religiously; it is about calling the name revelationally! Somebody can say, ‘Jesus’ with Faith, Fire and with a revelation, and something happens while another person says, ‘Jesus!!!!’ in the midst of an accident and nothing happened, because he was trying to invoke it more like either a charm or magic!
What is stored inside of you in times of peace is what delivers you in times of crises! When there is no challenge, what are you able to load inside? Church Gist. The Military people will know this, you don’t prepare for war during war, you prepare in peace for war!
What you have stored inside yourself, when there was no challenge at all, is what answers for you when you’re confronted. Hallelujah! That is the mystery of the Name of Jesus!
- Standing in the gap for others.
Job 42:10. Your healing can be connected to make demand on God for the healing of another person. Matthew 7:12. Anything you’re trusting God for in your own life, trust God for it in another person’s life and yours will be done. Luke 6:38. Galatians 6:9. it was Mike Murdock who said what you make happened for others, God makes happen for you. Church Gist. Intercession for others is a seed that produces the harvest of divine intervention. The harvest for divine intervention happens from the seed of human intercession. Job interceded for others God intervened for him.
If it appears as if your situation is not changing, make somebody else your focus of your intercession. The founder of Trinity Broadcasting Network, Paul Crouch and his wife Jance Crouch both of them are in eternity now.
Both of them are in eternity now.
That’s Paul Crouch, they are showing us there, aged 79. He died in 2013. Oh! That looks like yesterday and then, Jance Crouch, who was 70 died in 2016.
Right, Jance Crouch battled with depression and some form of mental situation. Church Gist. She said, one day they were in a service or in a meeting and she saw a girl that was obviously mentally derailed. The hair unkept, body clutched, everything was just upside down. She said she went to that girl, hugged her and began to cry to God to deliver her and heal her. While she did so, she was healed. The girl was healed, she was healed. Because she knew the pain of mental illness and she wanted nobody to feel that pain.
Somebody was praying for someone with ‘Arrhythmia’. This other one has had arrhythmia for about 21 years, laid hands on this person and the person fell under the anointing, and the person who was laying hands on the person with arrhythmia had also fallen under the anointing. Church Gist. He too had arrhythmia. He ignored his problem and was praying for somebody else. Long story made sure. When both of them got up, none of them had a heart problem anymore. Because that love is a seed.
How many of you have ever worn a shoe that is bigger/smaller than you in size? you have ever liked a shoe but it is too small for your leg but you like it so much, you want to do ‘guy’ inside.
When we married newly, I had one of such shoes and I was invited to preach. After I put my leg inside the shoe, it was very tight but I had faith that if I wore it a little bit and it expanded, I would be alright. But the shoe did not respond until I stepped to the altar with the shoe, wearing my ‘agbada’ with the shoe. Married newly!
How many of you know that, when you put on a shoe that is not your size, people who are sensitive would see it from your walking step. Church Gist. If the shoe is bigger than your leg, the walk is like that. And if the shoe is smaller than your size? So this was how I was trying to go to the altar. My challenge was to preach for 60 minutes. How do I cope with this in under 60 minutes, how do I do it? Do I drop the mic and run? (Laughs). So I don’t know what I did, whether I prayed or not but all I knew was that I needed help. Before I knew it, the pain had disappeared and I preached like somebody that is in another world. Power everywhere. God touched people, many things happened. I finished the preaching and on my way, the shoe reminded me; I am still here, the fact that you didn’t feel any pain during the preaching does not mean you succeeded. You only received mercy. That was when I realized that when you make others your focus, your own pain disappears.
Job’s affliction could not go until he shifted. You see, from Chapter 1, Job continuously faced himself. Everything remained the same. Church Gist. When he shifted his focus from himself, that was when his answer came. When you make others’ focus your own focus, that is focus intervention. That is the focus for intercession. That is the focus for mercy. Your own mess and pain begin to disappear.
You know, one way to deal with loneliness is identifying lonely people as you are. If it is a sister, that lonely sister, you will begin to give her a call. Church Gist. How are you today, how’s everything? I just wanted to check up on you. Begin to sow such a seed to your fellow sisters or your fellow brother as the case may be. And before you know it, your own begin not just to disappear but God begins to give you the harvest of companionship. And if you were single before, all of a sudden your husband shows up. The reason why I said fellow sisters is for obvious reasons. Because if you call a brother and say brother, I know you are lonely, I just called to check up on you or vice versa. I’m sure you know how that will lead. Church Gist. So that nothing is misinterpreted and then, you don’t allocate yourself, what God has not given you.
Praise the Lord! Amen. Is God speaking to somebody, say a louder ‘Amen’.
So before this night is over, before tomorrow morning, pick somebody that you think may have a need, whatever the need may be. Church Gist. It may be a similar need as yours or even a general need and make them your focus of prayer and God will intervene in your life. I see someone’s story changing here tonight. If you are that one, your amen would be louder. I have three more points to make and all these three points are going to be re-echoing of the things I said on Sunday but in different forms.
- Speaking Correctly. It is an avenue of healing. Joel 3:10, it says; I am not saying, you are not weak neither am I saying, deny your weakness. Church Gist. All I am saying is ignore it and emphasize your strength. Beat your ploughshares into swords, and your pruning hooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong. You cannot confess weakness and become strong. Neither can you confess strength and remain weak. Did you hear what I just said? You cannot confess weakness and become strong. Neither can you confess strength and remain weak. Don’t sympathize with any situation and do not empower any negative situation. Because what you do not resist, you assist.
Proverbs 18:21. It says; Death and life is in the power of the tongue. The devil is offering you death, speak life! Church Gist. The devil is offering you afflictions, speak liberation! So you can talk your way out of every agenda of the devil.
Proverbs 12:18. It says; there is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is wealth. Wise men talk about health, they do not talk about affliction.
There is nothing truer than the truth, the symptom may be a fact, but the Word of God is the truth and the truth is superior to the fact. 1st Peter 3:10. How many of you know that sickness can make someone hate life. If you want to love life and see good days, not afflicted days speak accordingly. ChurchGist. So, your tongue is your channel of health and wholeness if used correctly and can also be your channel of disease and destruction if used wrongly.
Speak correctly! Psalm 16:7-11. You can talk your way out from any devil’s trap. Somebody say with me; I that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high, I shall abide under the shadow of the Shaddai. I will say of the Lord that He is my refuge, I am not ready for anybody to say it for me. Psalm 91:1-3.
Say to somebody; the devil may have spoken, but what are you saying. The symptom may have spoken but what are you saying? The violent taketh it by force. My wife’s passport was in an embassy and the visa was supposed to be issued but it was not forthcoming and her passport was there. ChurchGist. So, I wrote to them; we have a journey to make, so return the passport today or tomorrow, I wrote the letter to their direct boss. Return the passport today or tomorrow, thank you. That I’m coming to your country is to come and help you, there is nothing that I’m looking for anywhere, the only place I’m looking for something is inside God.
What God cannot give me does not exist. So, they replied me back and they said please, how do we get it to you, both the passport and the visa today. ChurchGist. They replied me in a hurry, they were under pressure, they replied me almost three times, I wrote once and they replied me three times. Don’t be dumb.
Nothing is compulsory in this life except to make Heaven, except to stand in the will of God. Many of us are too silent to be successful, we are too quiet to be victorious. ChurchGist. Tell somebody beside you and say; Speak out! Speak out now.
Lift your hands and say, Father, today I’m speaking regarding my health, life and destiny, I’m speaking.
- WALKING IN JOY AND MERRIMENT.
This is therapeutic. Proverbs 17:22. Nehemiah 8:10b. What is the meaning? Joy equals health and joy equals strength. ChurchGist. Joy has therapeutic capacity, joy is medicinal. What I’m saying is not just mere talk, it is real, excited people are more healthy than depressed people. The absence of Joy heralds’ weakness, that is why when people are depressed; they sleep tired and they wake up tired.
I came across the story of a woman that was given a cancer diagnosis; she was told that she has 6 weeks to live. This person said; well before I die let me enjoy my life and she decided to get humorous and funny videos and she began to watch and she was laughing and laughing. You know those kinds of jokes. ChurchGist. Smith Wigglesworth told a joke one day, he said he was in a train, moving from London to somewhere and a man was sitting in front of him that was eating Banana and there was a monkey by the side there inside the train as well. And the man opened the Banana but he wanted to pray before eating the Banana and he closed his eyes, while praying before he could open his eyes, the monkey had taken the Banana, the monkey is an unbeliever monkey, the monkey could not even respect prayer. Even if you don’t go to Church, you must respect somebody when he is praying. That was how the monkey took the banana. Smith Wigglesworth could not laugh, he said he just thought in himself, no wonder the Bible said; Watch and Pray. That means you’re not meant to close your eyes in all prayers, there are prayers you’ll have to open your eyes and there are prayers that you’ll close one eye and open one eye, in case there is a physical devil coming from somewhere, so that you can watch him. For example, if you’re praying for a mad person don’t close your eyes
Hallelujah!
So, this person gathered these funny videos around and she kept watching them. Within six weeks, the terminal diagnosis of cancer disappeared, the cancer disappeared for good. She said even if I’m to die, let me enjoy myself, let me laugh, let me enjoy life, I refuse to be depressed, let me just enjoy life. ChurchGist. What they call happy hormones, that deals with stress inducing hormones. You’re just excited and happy, it releases the joint, it dissolves the headaches and migraines, it brings down the blood pressures.
Look at your neighbour and say; life is too short to be endured it must be enjoyed.
- WALKING IN LOVE AND FORGIVENESS
It brings healing, it connects us with healing. We saw the root of bitterness in Hebrews 12:15 and Matthew 18:44-45. 1st John 3:14-15. He that loveth not his brother, he abideth in death, he is living inside death. If he has not died yet, it’s a matter of time. ChurchGist. Anything that will assist him to die will begin to happen. When people are playing with bitterness, hatred and unforgiveness, especially against innocent people, it is death that they are looking for. 1st John 3:15. The life of God can not dwell in the life of a hater.
A person who drives for a living is called what? A driver. A person who teaches for a living is called what? A teacher. A person who sings for a living is called what? An artiste. A person who hates for a living is called? Haters. They are all over the internet. ChurchGist. There are people that their job is to hate, they make money out of hatred. They gain from hatred; they achieve followership from hatred. Bad people subscribe to them for hatred.
It gets to a point that it will become a culture, there are those who join hatred bandwagon, they’re recruited into hatred without knowing the reason for the hate. Please spare your life! Don’t let anybody invite you to die. Anybody who is inviting you to hate is inviting you to die. ChurchGist. Anybody who is inviting you to hate is inviting you to die, it’s an invitation unto premature death and calamity. You will live, you will fulfill your days. Say after me, I’m not a hater, I don’t hate for a living, I’m a lover, I love for a living.
It is far more profitable to love and to be filled with love, I don’t know how many groups of people that I have led to Christ today, where we were in the hotel, we were where they kept us, everyone, the driver, the cook, all of them swarmed around us, they were asking please pray for us sir. I prayed for them from my heart. When I go to Shoprite and Lugbe for evangelism, I pray for strangers from my heart, you shall not die before your time. When I’m meeting them for the first time. ChurchGist. I bless them from my heart, at the end of the day, I tell them, before these things I’m saying can catch, you need to make your ways right with God, surrender to Jesus. Pray this prayer with me…. At the airport, the airport security all of them swarm at us. While we were praying those that needed healing received it. From a genuine heart of love. Life is better that way than to be moving around like a bulldog that drank poison and you know how ugly a bulldog is normally, to what extent will he squeeze his face, the face is already totally squeezed.
That will never be your portion.
- Any pain in your heart from any human actions, the Lord clean it out of your heart.
- The Balm in Gilead heal you of every offence, of every trace of wrong human action that may have made you hurt.
May God give us the grace to still love despite our past experiences, in the name of Jesus Christ.
