Situated at Km 7, Gbongan-Osogbo Road, Ode Omu, Osun State is a citadel of learning birthed by Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo’s led Kingsway International Christian Church, called Kings University (a.k.a Land of Dreams) which was licensed by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in March 2015.

On the 17th of March 2016, a 3-in-1 event was held, comprising of the official commissioning of the University, Investiture of the Chancellor, and her Maiden Matriculation ceremony. The Management structure is made up of the Board of Trustees, Chancellor (Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo); Pro-Chancellor (Dr Dipo Oluyomi); Governing Council (a 7 member council: 4 representatives from the Board of Trustees, Odeomu Community, NUC, State of Osun’s Ministry of Education and 3 nominees of the proprietor); Vice Chancellor (Professor Mrs Adenike Kuku) and Senate.

The Faith-based private institution is structured around 6 faculties and 22 mainstream departments in which the Schools of Medical Science and Pharmacy in the College of Medical Sciences as well as the Faculty of Law are to run faculty/school-based degree programmes. However, academic programmes are only operational at 2 faculties at the moment, namely Faculty of Science (B.Sc. Biochemistry, B.Sc. Biotechnology, B.Sc. Computer Science, B.Sc. Chemistry, B.Sc. Mathematics, B.Sc. Microbiology and B.Sc. Physics); Faculty of Humanities, Management and Social Sciences (B.A English, B.A History, B.A Linguistics, B.A Religious Studies, B.Sc. Accounting, B.Sc. Banking and Finance, B.Sc. Business Administration, B.Sc. Economics, B.Sc. International Relations, B.Sc. Political Science), presently offering 18 academic programmes as against the initial take off of 11 academic programmes.

In line with the University’s Mission to be recognised for academic excellence and human capital development which impacts society economically, intellectually and socially; the institution runs 2 Semesters in a session annually: Manna Semester (October to February) and Quail Semester (March to June). On the 25th of October 2019, she successfully held her first convocation of the Genesis Class.Just 4 years since her establishment, the University is gradually carving her niche in raising leaders and transforming minds through her ICT driven learning environment coupled with student exchange programme with foreign universities and Enterprise Leadership Development programmes amongst other value adding initiatives. Little wonder, Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo shared the following when he was invited to speak at the ‘Irrepressible Leadership Conference’ at Kings University in 2016: “Kings University is an amazing school, such a serene environment, beautiful facilities, calm, well-coordinated and highly intelligent students. Kudos to Pastor Matthew A. Ashimolowo for this amazing work her. No doubt about it, Kings University is Raising Leaders and Transforming Minds.”
