UMA UKPAI EVANGELISTIC ASSOCIATION (UUEA)
Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA) is an non-denominational evangelistic ministry founded by Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, a Doctor by profession in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
Dr. Uma Ukpai’s Christian journey began when he surrendered his life to Christ during a crusade in 1958. This prompted him to start attending Assemblies of God Church in order to build on his new found faith. He started hearing messages of getting anything you ask from God when you engage the name of Jesus in prayers. This stirred his hunger for prayers. A particular day in his school (County Council School, Ogoni), there was a madman terrorizing the students. On seeing this, he confronted the madman and commanded him to roll out of the school which the madman obeyed. His Headmaster who witnessed this event accused him of using witchcraft power at an early age. This he disregarded and told him that he was now born again and that what he simply did was to command the madman in the name of Jesus. The Headmaster then requested him to start the School’s prayer meeting the next day regarding him as the School’s new pastor. That was the beginning of his ministry. He started preaching in the school and from there, he started holding crusades in Jagaja in Rivers State.
Dr. Uma Ukpai has an evangelistic mandate of reaching the World for Christ upon which The Uma Ukpai Evangelsitic Association (UUEA) was birthed. The vision of the Ministry is to propagate the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Nigeria and beyond by all scriptural means in the power of the Holy Spirit, to encourage the worship of God and promote fellowship among believers. The Association started like a movement in the sitting room of its Founder (Reverend Uma Ukpai) at Plot A, Unit 106 Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, with just few members and overtime, the Ministry has birthed many visions.
Having been in existence for over 50 years, the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA) has continued to birth other ministry-arms in its bid to touch lives in fulfillment of its divine mandate. It houses and uses the following platforms to reach the world for Christ:
The Uma Ukpai School of Theology affiliated with the University of Uyo: It is a platform where men and women are trained for Kingdom services.
The Uma Ukpai College of Business affiliated with the Joseph School of Business, Chicago: It is a College that provides a platform where people from various spheres of life, especially entrepreneurs are taught Biblical principles of business.
Uma Ukpai Polytechnic, Asaga: Established in 2017 as a centre of excellence and research to train and become the citadel of innovation for the growing Nigerian economy. Courses offered include: Accounting, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics and Engineering.
Victory Cathedral, Uyo: Houses the UUEA headquarters where a weekly non-denominational fellowship is held.
The UUEA Press: The publishing arm of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association.
The King of Kings Hospital, Asaga: Equipped to carry out free or considerably subsidized medical outreaches for the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA).
Uma Ukpai Eye Centre, Asaga: It offers low cost, affordable and accessible eye care/treatment to the public on vision matters.
Daily Nuggets: On this platform, the wife of the Founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), Pastor (Mrs) Philomena Uma Ukpai runs daily Word Disposition.
Uma Ukpai Scholarship Foundation: A platform that offers scholarships to students.
The Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association was part of the listed Founding Fathers’ Churches and Financiers of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria.
The Association is currently overseeing the establishment of the Greater Ohafia for Christ City (Prayer City) which includes the ongoing construction of the 120,000 Capacity Uma Ukpai Prayer Cathedral, a $250m project in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State. The foundation laying was done in 2022. The Prayer City will also host event centers, a clinic, helipads, car parks and other structures.
Rev. Uma Ukpai is married to Pastor (Mrs) Philomena Uma Ukpai and they are both blessed with 9 children, out of which 1 was adopted. Rev. Ukpai lost 2 of his children in a car accident. Reverend Uma Ukpai is an international Evangelist who conducts crusades all over the world. He is also a co-author with Billy Graham and other great men of God on “The Work of An Evangelist”. He was the first African main Speaker at the World Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International (FGBMFI) World Convention ’96, Miami, USA.
