The New Covenant Church (NCC) started in October, 1985 with the first worship venue at the Women Training Centre, Samonda, in Ibadan, Nigeria. In 1986, the first centre in the United Kingdom started at Elephant and Castle, London. Presently, the church has over 500 branches in Africa, Europe, America, Middle East and Asia. Over 400 of the branches are located in Nigeria with over 50,000 members. The largest church is in Ibadan with over 3,000 members. The General Overseer is Reverend Paul Jinadu while his wife, Reverend Kate Jinadu oversees the women arm of the church, Covenant Women International (CWI).

What led to the church being founded was the vision given to the General Overseer, Reverend Paul Jinadu, who received a call from God and abandoned his dream of becoming a medical doctor. Studying in the United Kingdom, he returned to Nigeria in 1966 and worked with two church denominations where he constantly spoke about the vision God gave him concerning building a church before going back to the United Kingdom. Those he told started a fellowship in Ibadan and he was invited to become their pastor because they felt led to do so. Thus, NCC was formally inaugurated in Samonda, Ibadan, Nigeria in 1985 while the first branch in the United Kingdom started in London in 1986. Church Gist. The little seed sown over 30 years ago has been blessed by God as New Covenant Church now has over 500 branches in more than 32 countries.

The vision of the church is to promote unity, liberty and discipleship, building on the foundation of Jesus Christ by returning to the original pattern and practices of the Church of the New Testament through biblical teaching and practices. Their mission is to bring every member into maturity in Christ, foster deep and meaningful fellowship,
encourage and work for unity among all believers, work for the good of the Community, play a positive role in the life of the nation, provide opportunities for service and be actively involved in missions at home and abroad. Church Gist

The church operates several Ministeries which include “Covenant Women International (CWI). The CWI seeks to minister to specific needs of women in the church and also stirs women up to take active ministry roles in the church. They conduct monthly evangelism outreaches to villages; and a monthly well-woman clinic for medical check ups, advocacy training and talks on health and related issues, “Liberty International”, a non-profit, non-governmental organisation promoted by the women arm of the church led by Reverend Kate Jinadu. It is registered as a charity in United Kingdom. It channels global aid and organizes programmes providing free medical care and clean water, promotes agricultural and business empowerment, establishes schools; and plants churches in many villages in Nigeria, “Children and Teenage Ministry”, which aims at ensuring children meet and give commitment to Jesus Christ before they leave home as teenagers, “Youth Ministry”, which encourages the youth to discover their life’s purpose, identify their gifts and fulfil their calling early in life. The church has existed for 35 years and is waxing stronger. The church of God keeps marching on and the gates of hell cannot prevail over it.
