-Bishop Wisdom Irabor on ‘CURSES: HINDRANCES TO SUCCESS’ at Breaking The Curses Of Life Sunday Service || Answers Assembly, Warri || 12th March, 2023 || First Service
Hallelujah! One of the things that will hinder success in life is the issue of ‘Curses’. Church Gist. Curses are spells, enchantments and bewitchment. No matter how anointed you are, if there is a curse you are not on course because it may be what you least expect that is holding you.
-But today, whatever may represent a curse in your life shall be permanently broken!
So very briefly as we approach the Communion table, we will be looking at, ‘CURSES: HINDRANCES TO SUCCESS’. Isaiah 42:22. People think the cause of their problem is because of the Church that they changed but they don’t know that it is a curse that they are carrying. Sometimes when we welcome the VIPs (Very Important Persons- First timers). It is good to call them VIPs but some of them just finished fighting with one Church and Pastor. Church Gist. You can change Church but you cannot change a curse that is following you from one Church to another. So be very careful! Never fight a Church or Pastor because you cannot win.
I did a post many years ago on ‘The battles you cannot win no matter who is backing you’. And one of the most prominent Pastors in the United Kingdom was searching for that material because he needed it for something and he called certain people that reached out to me that I should send the raw file- That was an inspiration. Never fight a Pastor because you cannot win, just behave as if you don’t know that they existed. You know one thing with Pastors? Church Gist. They will be wrong but God will still be backing them up because God is the only one that can fight Pastors. So please that is one of the departments that I will handle because for some of us, certain Churches and Pastors have sworn for us- They are cursing you on a daily basis!
-But I declare today, every curse must expire!
So that is why there is freedom of worship so that when you are tired in a place, instead of you fighting the Pastor, you can quietly walk out. When I got to a point where deliverance was natural with me and in Winners Chapel it is a crime, I checked out and said to myself, ‘It is time to go and do your own thing’! This is better for me than to be praying for somebody and another person is reporting me to Bishop Oyedepo. Church Gist. The petition is right because on that platform it is forbidden to do, ‘My Father, my Father’! So don’t kill yourself oo this thing is very simple. If your parents are your problem, pack! You can’t stay under your parents and win them. So if they are the problem, go and create your own home instead of you to stay there and fight them because you can’t win- They have the power to curse you and if they do that, you are finished.
I will help you because I know that you want to succeed but these are the little foxes that destroy the vine Songs of Solomon 2:15. These foxes (curses) appear little but damage the very great.
Now look at Isaiah 42:22 because they are the people that we came for today, ‘But this is a people robbed… Have you ever seen someone robbed? The person is deprived of his or her possession. There are certain things that you have but you were robbed by these curses. Have you ever seen a soup that is spoiled? It is good for nothing! For some of us our destiny is like spoiled food. Somebody that is created to be envied now you are pitied because a curse is at work. Church Gist. You can imagine a hole and someone is living inside of it, can he come out? Someone must need to pull him out of the hole and not only that, there is a predator that has been assigned over them.
Isaiah 42:22 is a vivid graphical representation of what most of us are going through. Now look at that description in Isaiah 44:22, how can one man be robbed, spoiled, put in a hole, a prison house and he is also a prey? How can he survive? Success is not your problem, break the curses and you will succeed. I don’t pray to succeed, I handle restrictions to success because if the foundation is destroyed, what shall the righteous do Psalms 11:3. Praying and wishing that the load on the head of the cripple should balance is a wasted wish and prayer because you must correct the leg for the head to balance.
-I called you this morning to correct what is wrong in the ground so that the glory that your head should carry must balance very well.
The panacea to this present predicament is that somebody must be present to deliver them. So there are two words here in Isaiah 42:22, ‘Restoration and deliverance’. God will deliver them from what is spoiling, robbing, keeping them in a hole, a prison house and making them prey, so that they can catch up with time and destiny and He will restore them. Otherwise, after the deliverance, there will be nothing to show- When there is no restoration.
-I give you these two forces: Deliverance and restoration.
Many of you are like this bird- We did Nights of Answers many years ago and I came with a physical cage and a live bird. And we prayed to the point where I opened the cage and the bird refused to come out. You have so mastered your problems that you have now become a motivational speaker: Seven keys to staying where you shouldn’t stay, Three ways to be happy when you are sad. You go one day kill yourself- You need deliverance. And I tied everybody’s deliverance to that bird and I said to myself, ‘Is it how this vigil will end? That means all of us still dey inside cage, dem don open cage we no gree come out! And I entered the cage, carried the bird and flung it to fly by force. And yet the bird refused to fly, it was just moving inside the Church. Na that time we pursue am and the bird flew. That is deliverance by force.
-If they have opened the door and you refuse to come out, I open the door and throw you away now! You must fly!
You go just sit down and watch your life just like that? The bird just interprets our lives, em dey talk say, ‘Na so una lives dey’! And I said, ‘No’!
-Now I declare, come out by fire by force!
And I asked somebody, bird wey dey fly we put am for cage, em wan come out. Now, we don open the cage, the bird refuses to fly. He said that he did a study on birds and discovered that if they put them in a place for too long they will adapt to the new environment and all of a sudden the bird will begin to live in the reality of that restriction and it will refuse to move.
-So I don’t know what has been done for you to remain in one spot, you are coming out of it!
Anywhere you see a curse, there is a cause that you must discover Proverbs 26:2. There was a woman that a Man of God delivered and after the deliverance she went and bought a wonderful souvenir. Unknowing to her, the souvenir was programmed so that any person that gets to use it will have suicidal thoughts. Did you think that all this, ‘I don tire for life, is depression? It is a curse. That’s why I have ijebu garri, bread, cashew nut and groundnut close to my bed so that anytime the thought wants to come, I will turn it to cashew- I go chop am. Church Gist. The fridge is constantly loaded and as long as I see the fridge I will stay alive because I don’t want anybody to eat it on my behalf (Laughing).
There are voices travelling everywhere. People have jumped into the river, taken poison to die and you think that it is normal? Somebody programmed it! It is a bewitchment that will make you reach where there is a river and they will tell you to jump into it, you will see poison and they will tell you to drink it. It’s a curse! That curse was programmed to kill the woman and then she called the Pastor to say, ‘After my deliverance, I am still having problems’. Church Gist. And the Pastor said, ‘What? I will pray’! And in the place of prayer, he saw the souvenir and informed her that it was what has been telling her to kill herself. He said, ‘Throw that thing away’, and as soon as she did that she got her deliverance!
-I don’t know what is around you that is stopping you from moving forward- Whether it’s a paper, certificate or issue, I break it now by fire!
It was noted in history that every twenty years, an American President will die. Then it was the turn of President Ronald Reagan to die and they now discovered in the place of prayer that there was a time Americans maltreated the Red Indians and cursed the seat of power in that severe pain and when it was time for President Ronald Reagan to be assassinated after that kind of curse-breaking prayer, he narrowly escaped the assassination. Church Gist. So he became the first one who survived power without dying by assassination because the reason for that spell was broken. You will see some kings even in contemporary times, they will make statements like, ‘I use my authority as the new king to lift the curse on the land, it is no longer binding’!
-I decree over your life that whatever is the reason for your continuous pain is broken today!
I know your sister’s husband maltreated her but what you don’t want to know is, ‘That your sister’s husband, is he the same husband of your four other sisters who are also being maltreated by their husbands? The problem is not in the men but it is in the foundation because that foundation is programmed that you will always meet people that will mistreat you. If you meet a good man you will still regret it. Church Gist. If you meet a rich man the foundation will reduce him until he dies a pauper. So the problem is not with the man, the problem is inside the house. If you don’t see it this way, you may want to go and kill the man and call him a yeye man.
-I declare over your life today that everything that has made everybody suffer the same shame, pain and reproach is terminated by fire today!
Seven types of curses to break if you must enjoy success.
You know that there is no curse without a cause.
1. The curse of God
God is the originator of curses Genesis 3:14. God cursed the serpent and the curse is still following it today. In Genesis 3:16-19 God also cursed the man and woman in the garden of Eden. Have you not also read in Genesis 12:3, ‘I will bless those that bless you and curse those that curse you’? That thing that killed your father prematurely is the reason why you are smoking and drinking around and misbehaving. Do you think that it’s the money that you have? Church Gist. There is a curse in your family that men must die in their prime and the way that your life is going, na wetin kill your papa go kill you. You will first of all break the law for the law to break you. Sometimes you need to live the opposite of your father’s life and you will enjoy the other side of life that your father did not enjoy.
If God is the one cursing you, who will you run to? If I curse you now you will run to God. Now pray with me:
-Every curse of the Lord following my life, expires by fire.
-Whatever I have done to incur the curse of the Lord, mercy Lord!
Some of you married into curses and you are trying to blame the Pastor who wedded you. When you bring a man we will wed you because when we were telling you to wait for six-month training and classes, you will go and call elders and everybody to come and beg us. Church Gist. Some of you are begging us to facilitate your tears and I noticed that those of them that are regretting their marriages in Answers Assembly forced us to join them. When you are in love, be very careful because love is blind. Na you e blind, e no blind me so I dey talk wetin I see. When you are blinded by love, allow people who can see to talk to you.
A lady enters the husband’s room, you know wetin she saw? She saw one big juju (Charm). Na em she talk say, ‘I no go marry again! Somebody asked, ‘When you marry am, you no investigate your husband’s father? The father dey service shrine how come em pikin no go get shrine? You were there, you saw history and you want to repeat history? To hell with you! And the man said, ‘This is the life that we live in our family! If you must live or stay, the choice is yours’! And I commend the man for not hiding the life that he lives in their family!
When you see that kind of thing as a Christian sister there is no discussion, e don end! If e no end you must be sick, you must have a psychiatric problem because you are married not just to him but also to the shrine. Church Gist. If you like, lay the foundation for your tomorrow or remain there, your seniors are regretting it you too go regret am. Nothing just happens, it is a colourful preparation that gives birth to a colorful destiny and because of that the curse of God will expire in such marriage. Do you know what I call courtship? Courtship means, ‘Let us live together and see if we can live forever’.
It is only in the Church that you may not stay under the same roof during courtship to avoid fornication but when you are in courtship for either six months, one year or two years, you are already living with this person as if you were married. Church Gist. You will now tell yourself, ‘The things that I have discovered about this person, can I live forever with this person? Where your answers are not in the affirmative, don’t let any Prophet deceive you because this is the reality you will live with forever because people don’t change after marriage.
-May mercy answer for you!
2. The curse of biological parents Genesis 9:21-24.
Do you think that they gossip about you to your Spiritual Father, certain elders or leaders? Some people will just know. When somebody is not faithful to me behind me, when I see you, there is a Prophetic signal- My Spirit will react to you. Church Gist. That is how I save myself from betrayal- I have never been betrayed in twenty-six years because I don’t play with my intuition and Prophetic signals.
Noah knew what happened, nobody gossipped about Canaan to the father and he said, ‘Cursed be Canaan’! The person who saw his nakedness was Ham and he cursed Canaan because every mistake of children is trans-generational. Be careful because the things that you do will be transferred to your children. Church Gist. Ham may escape, Canaan may not escape! There are certain things that you shouldn’t do if you love your children. In that same Genesis chapter 9, God blessed Noah and his children.
When God was blessing Noah and his children, Canaan was not given birth at that time yet. But by the time Canaan came, He said if I have blessed, I have blessed, it cannot be reversed. How will I curse Ham because I have already blessed him in Genesis chapter 9? I cannot remove the blessing and input the curse, so let Me look for his offspring who have not been blessed by Me before. Church Gist. That is why you cannot carry a curse and blessing at the same time.
-By this Service and Communion, carry your blessings now!
-Every parental curse walking against you expires! Proverb 20:20.
These are some of the things we know from Proverbs 20:20 even though my mother offends me, I will just laugh and say, ‘Mama, nobi so e bi oo’! Church Gist. Even when I know that she is wrong, I know this: …Whosoever curseth his father or mother, his light shall be put out in obscure darkness Proverbs 20:20. You know light? Your future, glory and tomorrow!
-Every parental curse working against me, I can no longer continue! Expire now!
… He that curseth his father and mother, let him die Matthew 15:4. You won’t die physically but everything about you will die. The only thing worse than death is to be alive and everything is dead. Do you know the young man who got angry and poured leftover beans water on his mother because he was angry? Church Gist. Fear parents oo and the mother replied, ‘As my body dey smell, na so your future and destiny go smell’! The fearful thing about curses is that you don’t know where they picked it from and when they say it you will be wondering.
I went to our studio last two weeks and saw that they stole the amplifier there. And I said, ‘This is the last thing you will ever achieve in this life, anywhere achievement is coming you will lose it and if you ever get it, your kidney, liver and organs will fail. The day you will see money will be to go and manage incurable diseases’! Church Gist. I carried all the media people into the studio and said it with my mouth and I left! Be careful!
There are things that you do and if you provoke people to swear, it will be disastrous. Certain swear (curse) is deserved by those they swear for. I did not only swear oo, but I also raised three altars by calling three old people whose words cannot fall to the ground and asked them to add their voices and I made certain sacrifices. Church Gist. I don’t even want the amplifier again but there is this inner peace within me that I have destroyed somebody’s future, that generations unborn will come and ask you why you did not achieve a thing and you will tell them that you entered one Church and took their amplifier. A Pastor said, ‘After this program, don’t take any pin’, and somebody went and stole something and that became seven years of madness. They brought the person back to Church and the Pastor said, ‘Ask him, what did he take? And he said, ‘This thing will remain like this for seven years’. The curse is always bigger than the reason why you carry a curse.
When that guy started smelling, he went abroad to become a Reverend Father and on the week of his graduation, he went to the club and carried prostitutes and the prostitutes said, ‘You raped me’! And the following day, they put him in the airplane and he returned to Nigeria. Church Gist. When he returned, he decided to start a part-time education and go to University. Toward the end, he came out of school and could not graduate. All his younger ones got married and everyone left him in the house because he needed to meet the mother again for her to bless him.
One of the times he came to me in the Fellowship I was pastoring in Lagos and asked me to pray for him that anytime he has money, he dey always think of women. I anointed him and gave him my money for transportation and he went ahead and carried a woman. Church Gist. And at another time, he came again crying, ‘Help me, I am dying’! Thank God that his mother did not die before that thing killed him, he went back for the mother to bless him. Can I pray for you? I stand as the Spiritual authority. That is why for some of you eh, you must never play with your Pastor or Prophet because sometimes, they are the only saving grace that you have to survive what is pursuing you from where you came from.
-Any man or woman who cursed you, today the curse is broken.
3. The curse of Spiritual Fathers Ephesians 6:1-3, 2 Kings 2:11-12, 1 Corinthians 4:15-16, Genesis 49:1.
We are talking about that one Spiritual Father that can lay a curse on you. Church Gist. Jacob is a man whose name was changed to Israel. Israel is a Spiritual representation of the Church, Father with twelve sons representing the twelve tribes of Israel and the twelve disciples of Jesus. Imagine a Pastor and his members, it is not just a biological parent issue, it can also be translated into that of a Spiritual Father blessing his children Genesis 49:1.
-I pray for you today that any curse from your Spiritual Parent that is affecting you, I declare it is over now!
Your Spiritual Father can decide your outcome and future Genesis 49:2-4.
-I stand today and declare that your days are blessed.
Sleeping on your father’s bed with your girlfriend is a curse not to talk of your Papa wife ‘gan gan’ na em you want touch? Look at all the credentials of Reuben! Can you see why some people don’t excel? Genesis 49:4. Never provoke your Spiritual Father to the point where He will curse you. Church Gist. When I get to the point where I go dey begin to get problems with my mentors, I just quietly walk away because I know that it is a battle that I can never win because what is backing Fathers is the forces backing Heaven. I rather maintain connectivity without having issues than maintain connectivity and be having issues. Never gather against your Spiritual Father.
Anywhere that they sit down and it is your Pastor that they are talking about, walk away! They might survive it but you may not survive it. I’m talking about your own Pastor who will wed you when you get married, name your children, name you sef join if to say dem born you for Church, the one who will commit you to mother earth when you die, not the everybody’s Pastor oo. Be very careful! Church Gist. A Pastor is involved from death to death! Give them honour!
4. The curse of seed time and harvest time Genesis 8:22.
-And I pray for you on this altar, anyone that I have ever cursed minus the person that stole the amplifier, that it is by ignorance you did what you did against me or this altar. Church Gist. I stand today by the mercies of God to declare that you are free!
What you sow is what you will reap Genesis 8:22, Ephesians 6:8.
A Curse does not have anything to do with whether you are born again or not, it is riskier when you become born again because it is what you sow that you will reap. Now, look at Ecclesiastes 10:5-9 let me tell you why some people have problems with rising- He that diggeth a pit will fall into it! Be careful with what you do to people! Don’t sow evil seeds! Seed time and harvest time is real Galatians 6:7. Church Gist. If all the evil that you have done is to come back to you, will you be alive today? Preaching wey God send to help you, no gree make e vex you! That’s the problem with demonic attacks, the truth that will help you will get you angry so that in your anger it is rendered useless!
So constantly you have to plead the blood of Jesus against this curse. Can I tell you how difficult these things can be? David slept with a man’s wife Beersheba and his son Absalom slept with his wife. Peter took Jesus and rebuked Him, Paul was not born again then. When Paul came to Christianity, he took Peter and rebuked him. Haman prepared a gallow for Mordecai to be executed and the same gallow took his life! Church Gist. Seed time and harvest time! Paul persecuted the Church when he was still a sinner, the day Paul got born again, Jesus said, ‘Paul, I will show you the things you will suffer for my sake’! Paul was the Apostle that suffered the most persecution- Shipwrecks, prison and many others. Jacob deceived Isaac and took the birthright of Esau, when the harvest will come, Jacob worked under Laban and they kept changing his wages. Laban kept deceiving Jacob because Jacob deceived Isaac and took the birthright of Esau.
When you wear matching cloth with somebody’s husband who died? And when they will try it with your husband nobody go die too, na seed you sow. Reap the seed wey you sow! Church Gist. If you sew am you go, wear am. Whatsoever a man seweth no matter who is the tailor na em go wear am. You cannot sew it and say, ‘Tailor nobi my size again! If e no size you, you go force am enter! Be careful oo as you dey see married men be running for your life, single daughter because one day you too go marry! The harvest must be bigger than the seed!
-Every seed you have down ignorantly, may mercy answer for you!
As we round up,
5. The curse of bitterness and hatred Genesis 4:3-5.
Cain was bitter because the sacrifices of Abel were acceptable by God, he was bittered at the outcome of his brother’s efforts. Watch people’s countenance when you are celebrating. It is this house that made me know that I don’t have friends. Some people said that I’m a ritualist and that God has left me. ‘Somebody wey no build Church e come build house which kind of yeye Pastor be that? Church Gist. When he finds out say I don build Church, e come change the story. Church Gist. You cannot regulate me, when I gave my bungalow for this Gallery were you there?
Watch people who are very quiet when you are singing and those who are very moody when you are rejoicing, they are your biggest enemies! For some of you, you must not eat the food that you meet people eating after you go to ease yourself to join them. Church Gist. Some of you must never eat in the houses of certain people, they will kill you. He who cannot stand your glory will stab your glory! Please Church be careful because you may come under a curse speaking against a blessed child of God. When you attribute to the devil what God is doing in somebody’s life, you will come under a curse! Hebrew 12:14-15.
Bitterness with people always troubles and defiles you!- Anywhere you see someone prospering you will say she slept with a man. You wetin come out for your own? You cannot be bitter and better, rejoice with people! Do you know why you get angry when people achieve things? You never achieve wetin dem achieve! I was happy to go to the land that Pastor Kelechi bought, he said, ‘My Bishop, I need you to step into that land’! I got there and began to show him how the building plans should be and he asked, ‘Bishop, you speak like an architect, you are even happier than us. Do you know why? Church Gist. Because I have conquered buildings! It is what you have not conquered that you will be angry at when other people achieve it. You will be happy because others are coming as additional millionaires. It is what you have not achieved that makes you give people bad names for what you have not achieved.
6. The curse of the Prophet Matthew 13:57
…A Prophet is not without honour in his own country and his own house Matthew 13:57. That is why people travel abroad to see Nigerian Prophets but Nigerians will commonize and destroy them. Church Gist. I can tell a member, ‘See me by 12 noon’, and by 6 pm I am still calling, he has not come! When you see the way that they treat Prophets and Pastors in most Churches, you will understand why most people are stranded.
Never worship in any Church where you cannot honour the Pastor! What blesses people is not the shouting energy but the honour that you give to the altar! Acts 3:22, Hosea 12:13. God will always take Prophets from among you! Church Gist. Any Church who ordained a Pastor who cannot function as a Prophet will fail in his Pastoral Ministry because you were taken from among the people so you must live above them otherwise they will finish you! Sometimes you don’t have to play with them, pick up their calls, you know why? That is how a black man respects a Prophet! Permit me to pray this prayer now!
-Everything you have ever looked for in this life will look for you! Luke 2:34.
When Prophets fall, they fall once and when they rise, they keep rising! Can you see how some people came here stranded with nothing to show for it but now their glory is changing. Church Gist. And you see some who are not well connected, you see the way they are shrinking because the difference is in the honour of the altar! For any altar you do not honor, whatever blessing that they alter from that altar will never honour your life and destiny! Psalms 105:15.
Anywhere that you see a Pastor that people don’t speak against, he is not of God. Three things that every Pastor of God must fulfill:
1. People will be blessed through you.
2. People will suffer if they speak against you.
3. They will constantly speak against you.
May you meet my enemy and may you have the capacity to not become my own enemy! ‘Una Pastor na bad person… All they are trying to do is turn your blessings into sorrow! Never forget Korah, Dathan and Abiram! Numbers 16:28-33, they suffered seriously because they spoke against Moses. Church Gist. Only three of them were to be buried but that day turned out to be a massive burial. You know what? Some people are not rebels but they are rebel followers. Be careful who you walk with.
Never walk with a person fighting a Church or Pastor because if they sink, you will sink! They spoke against Moses but what do you say about Miriam and Aaron Numbers 12:1. Church Gist. Be careful with Pastor’s wives, for some of you your problem is that you honour the Pastor and disobey his wife! It is not in your power to regulate my wife because to honour me and dishonour my wife, you are under a curse. To talk back to my wife when she talks to you? I don’t care how Mama behaves but if you love and honour me, do the same to her. I have never disrespected any Pastor’s wife that I honour.
If I sow to Pastor Ibiyeomie monthly, I sow to his wife! Most of you in this Church are not blessed because of your disrespect for Mama. Any Church you go to as a woman and cannot honor the Pastor’s wife, you may die prematurely. If Jesus married, can you honour Him and disobey His wife? Deaconess, become a Pastor’s wife and see if you can take five percent of what Mama is taking. Church Gist. Mama has lost her life to stand with me and Answers Assembly, that one no fit touch you to honour her? Don’t oppress our Pastor’s wives again if you want, become one! Don’t talk about them, if their marriage is shaking, let it shake- They are human beings and anyhow their children behave, let it be. Do you know the attack against Pastor’s children and marriages? Who made you a judge over them? Be careful because judgment is coming!
And you the Pastor’s wife, 2 Samuel 6:16-23. If you don’t understand that your husband has shifted levels from the brother you used to know to a Pastor, you will come under a curse. The level you got married to your husband is not the level he is operating from now. Don’t make the mistake of Michal 2 Samuel 6:16-23.
