‘ENGAGING THE WONDERS OF SPECIFIC DEMANDS ON OUR PRAYER ALTAR’ – that’s our exhortation line.
Jesus once said “hitherto have ye asked me nothing, you have been saying something but nothing specific.” ‘Have mercy eehhh!’ Church Gist. ‘You asked me nothing but ask me, ye shall receive that your joy may be full.’ John 16:24.
Generalized prayers don’t count much with God. His response will always be “what exactly do you want me to do for you?” – as we saw in the case of Bartimeus. ‘Have mercy, have mercy!’ Mark 10:46-52. He was crying Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me. Church Gist. He cried yet louder. Jesus said “don’t let that man kill himself, call him here. What exactly do you want? You have said nothing, you are sweating but you have said nothing.” It’s time to come down specific on the altar of prayer for that is the one that flies with God. Only specifics fly with God on the altar of prayer.
James 4:1-3. There are things you ask for that if God gives you, you will disappear. Just…‘God don’t tempt me with this, if you do, you won’t see me again.’ There are things you ask that is to brag and make you very important and famous and enjoy applause. Church Gist. Because faith delivers to the level of our love for God and prayer delivers by faith, so God has to be at the center of your desire for your desire to fly. God has to be at the center of my desire for my desire to fly.
Remember, faith works by love – Galatians 5:6 and prayer works by faith which means the foundation of the prayer that works is love. Church Gist. (Referring to a testimony) This young man said “Lord engrace me to please and love you more.” He said “I hear.” Another man said “you see me naked, I agree, I want to please you” and favour descended.
Hannah demanded a man child from God and that was what she got. 1 Samuel 1:11. Every desire with God at the center flies. It flies. Church Gist. Solomon demanded for wisdom so as to fulfill God’s purpose for making him king if you check it very well. 1 Kings 3:7-9. God at the center makes our desires to fly…and that young man (Solomon), all the kings of the Earth came to hear his wisdom.
We must therefore continue to make specific demands on the altar of prayers for salvation of souls, establishment of souls and Church growth with all intent and purpose to glorify God.
Everytime we pray the will of God, Heaven responds. 1 John 5:14-15. Ascertain the will of God on your desires on the altar of prayer. God’s will will never deliver on its own. Church Gist. There are biblical requirements for every child of God to take delivery of the will of God in his life. “Why are you calling me Lord, Lord without doing what I asked you to do?”
For instance, God has reserved prophetically a fearful package of fortune for us both as a Commission and individuals but there is what we must do for each one of us to take our portion.
Recognize, we are born of grace. Ephesians 2:8. We are predestinated to salvation before we were ever born. So it’s not about what we did and what we did not do. Church Gist. It’s just the act of divine favour. However, to manifest that favour, there are things we must have to align with.
There are biblical requirements…among them, Psalm 5:12. So favour belongs to righteous craving people. God fearing people are covenant candidates for favour with God. That happened to that my son who was in that fraudulent business. God smiled on him. Favour came and just turned everything around. God does not bless the crooked. Church Gist. Favour does not pertain to the crooked, it pertains to men and women that crave to please God as a way of life. 1 John 3:7. Are you a doer of righteousness? For this purpose was the Son of man manifested that He might destroy the works of unrighteousness, destroys the dominion of sin over our lives so we can manifest the favour that gave birth to us into the Kingdom.
Remember in Romans 19:19-23, before Jacob and Esau were born, God made His choice and that’s your case and my case. There are some people fitted for destruction like pharaoh – “for this purpose, I raised him up so I can show my power in him.” Church Gist. There are vessels of mercy like you and me. Before we knew what to do, He just chose us. We must not abuse it.
How Do I Activate this Favour?
1. Commit to serving God and the interest of His Kingdom and God will take continuous interest in lavishing your life and my life with favour. Psalm 35:27, Psalm 102:13-15. Church Gist. Fearful favour which we call fortune is the heritage of those who take pleasure in Kingdom advancement endeavors – who are ‘pro God’ in their thoughts, ‘pro God’ in their words, ‘pro God’ in their actions.
You can’t miss out of God’s favour favouring His righteous course. You can’t miss out of His favour taking pleasure in the advancement and enlargement of His Kingdom. You can’t miss it! Sir, you can’t miss it!
Let me share this humorous story with you. (In) 1984 October, we were believing God to pay 3,000 naira for our Church facility rental. How much? 3,000 naira. So about 6 of us met, our leaders and I said “folks, if I have this money, God won’t appeal to me to give it. But now that we are all at the same level, understand me o because a time is coming when some of us will take off in the air”…and it’s favour that flies. Nothing flies like favour. You saw the flight of Joseph, you saw the flight of Daniel. Church Gist. Nothing flies like favour. “Now that we are all at the same level, understand me o because a time is coming when some of us will take off in the air”…I’m not talking about flying aircraft, I’m talking about God’s lifting grace. “And when you will start murmuring” – “we don’t know what they are using.” “Let me tell you what I’m using before then, I’m sold out to God.”
You can’t be sold out to God in truth and in deed and miss out of favour. It’s impossible. Matthew 6:33. Big question…no matter how a man who is not a giver prays, he is not a candidate by the covenant for prosperity. Church Gist. He is not. It’s not a witch that is after him, he is after himself.
A man who does no good to anybody else is not a candidate for good things from God. “For whatever good thing any man does, the same he shall receive.” You give to the poor, you shall not lack. You feed the poor, you won’t go hungry. You clothe the naked, you will never be naked. Ephesians 6:8. Church Gist. Even though all good things belong to us, but doing good is a qualifier for accessing the good things that belong to us. This will help to relax our confidence in prayer.
So let’s come this time like Hezekiah. Isaiah 38:3-5. There will be many dramatic change of story this time! So let’s be specific but let’s do that with sense of responsibility.
Praying His will is what engenders confidence on the altar of prayer and His will delivers by taking biblical responsibilities in line with such areas of interest of our lives.
– Somebody’s story is changing!
– It’s a new dawn!
– It’s your new dawn!
That’s God’s agenda for us. So get down specific “Lord enfire my love for you into next levels. Lord stir up a hunger and a thirst after righteousness in my heart.” Church Gist. You are clearing the ground for accessing every good thing that belongs to you in Christ. Matthew 22:36-40. Just get that foundation right and every other thing will start flying.

The Lord spoke to me, He said “reposition the people spiritually and they will start flowing in fortune.”

– Each one’s days of struggles are finally over!
– You will be walking in your dream land from henceforth!
– You won’t know the heat in the environment!
– You won’t feel the pinch the World is feeling in the name of Jesus!

Every other!
Those testimonies you have heard today, they are very illustrative. Let’s take heed. God is about doing something. Church Gist. “To the law and to the testimony, if they do not follow after that then, there is no light in them.” Testimonies are pointers to our inheritance. Let’s line up.
Have God at the center of your demands and they will deliver as a dream of the night.
