– Bishop David Oyedepo on “FAVOUR IS THE BIRTHRIGHT OF EVERY CHILD OF GOD” || One Night with the King – First Word Session || Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland, Ota.
We start tonight by looking at this subject, “FAVOUR IS THE BIRTHRIGHT OF EVERY CHILD OF GOD”.
– Can I have you say with me, “favour is my birthright”.
We begin by noting that the Bible is a Book of what to do to secure access to what God has provided. It’s not a book of information, it’s a Book of instructions. Church Gist. The Bible is a Book of what to do to secure access to what God has provided. Luke 6:46. John 2:5. And Jesus is the living Word. So, whatever He tells you in His Word, do it. You can’t commit Him without doing it.
We have been running around over time at the body of Christ with information. We get excited about information but we are not seeing results. Church Gist. The Bible is not a history book, it’s a manual for profitable living. 2 Timothy 3:16. It’s like the palm tree, every part of it is profitable. We so much enjoy the principles that we don’t have a place for the reproofs, the corrections and the instructions, so people keep struggling. Church Gist. If you don’t have any place for the man or for the equipment, you can’t maximize his potentials.
Opinions are not needed in instructions. In aviation, you operate by instructions, not by opinion. There are many grounded believers today, they won’t take instructions. Church Gist. “No. I’m a man of myself, you can’t direct me anyhow. You can’t move me anyhow”. You’re saying that to God? When you get into trouble, who will help you? If you were Professors in schools, colleges, universities, you can express your opinion but in flying school, you have instructors, opinion is irrelevant, it’s your life. Church Gist. So, you either take it or you lose everything.
The Bible is a manual for profitable living. Hebrews 4:2. So, you draw the profiting through your faith. What you don’t receive and believe, you’re never empowered to become. Church Gist. So, you put your faith on the line to draw on the profitability of these instructions, otherwise, you’ll just be quoting it forever. Joshua 1:8. So, it’s not for free. There are things you and I must do to make our way prosperous and to have good success.
Among others, the Bible teaches us how to flow in favour in hard times. Nothing flies in hard times like favour. Favour will give a place to a slave and become the heir of a family as we saw in the case of Joseph. Church Gist. Favour will decorate a prisoner via an inmate, as we saw in Joseph. Nothing flies in hard times like favour. Favour will send a man out of the prison, ex-convict, not even eligible to vote and become Prime Minister of Egypt. Nothing flies in hard times like favour. Psalm 37:18-19. “There’s no food anywhere. How would anybody get food?” Wait. Church Gist. God who rang bell for 40 years in the wilderness and rained flesh giving them two meals per day is still on the throne.
– you’ll never beg for bread in your life!
So, delightsome obedience to the Word is key to the world of favour. That you willingly, joyfully subscribe to. Not censoring God, my friend. Church Gist. Not tempting God, “let’s see what he will do. Well, I’ve tried it before it didn’t work”. It won’t work because your attitude is wrong. He knows the heart and he searches the rain to determine what a man qualifies for. Let’s strengthen up. Deuteronomy 28:1-2. Psalm 112:1-3. Delight. Church Gist. Not running after God to use God, you delight yourself, you befriend God. Two can’t walk together except they agree. Psalm 112:2.
– no one in your generation will end up a beggar!
Psalm 112:3. Simple. 1 Samuel 15:22b. Until you accept to comply with the terms of delivery of your inheritance, it’s never in view, it’ll never come through. Your part must be in place, my part must be in place before God can be committed. John 10:35b. Church Gist. You come to Church in the day, you go to look for some other sources of help in the night, who are you deceiving? Psalm 16:4. So, it’s self affliction. Church Gist. Everybody is appraising you and hailing you but nothing is changing.
– but tonight marks the end of wasted labour!
Grace literally means divine favour. Every child of God is born of favour. Ephesians 2:8. So, we are born of favour. Just like nobody did anything to be born into the world, we did nothing to be saved. It’s an election of predestination. Church Gist. That’s a mystery of its own. Before they were born, Jacob and Esau, God made His choice. They haven’t done no evil or good, God made His choice. Aren’t you glad that you’re God’s choice for salvation? Aren’t you glad that you’re not in the house of the occult tonight? That you’re not crouching under a native doctor tonight? Church Gist. Aren’t you glad that you’re not carrying a calabash on your head and walking naked? Romans 8:29-30. We are products of God’s predestination. We owe God thanks forever. Romans 9:11-12. Church Gist. It’s a mystery but thank God we are on the positive side of that mystery.
– come on, give the Lord praise!
New birth is an escape from the kingdom of darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth into the Kingdom of Light where there is joy and rejoicing that culminates in laughter. Church Gist. Weeping, gnashing of teeth! Rejoicing and laughter! Sharp difference. Colossians 1:13. Darkness to light!
Now what’s in darkness?
Matthew 8:12. That is the order of the day in the kingdom of darkness – Weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 24:51. No escape from that dungeon except by Salvation. Hebrews 2:3. That’s how much value Salvation offers mankind, it’s an escape from the dungeon of horror to the Kingdom of Joy and Rejoicing. Church Gist. It’s an escape. Hebrews 2:3. It’s an escape! That’s the worth of redemption. Remember in Revelation 12:12, what do they do in Heaven? To rejoice. ‘…And ye that dwell therein’! Who are the ones that dwell therein? Ephesians 2:6. So, we belong to the Kingdom of Joy and Rejoicing.
-Tonight! Anything that murmurs and complains, that complicates your matter will be rooted out!
Revelation 12:12. There are two kingdoms on this Earth: The kingdom of darkness, the Kingdom of Light. The Kingdom of Joy and Rejoicing, the kingdom of weeping and gnashing of teeth. Church Gist. Salvation is what defines where you belong. Can I hear your Amen? Psalms 2:4. You know? They keep fighting against the Church since time immemorial but he that sitteth in Heaven shall laugh.
-The Lord will make a mockery of them.
So what do they do in Heaven? Laugh! Where are you seated? In Heaven! What should you be doing? Laughing.
-Now, I curse every seed of sorrow in anyone’s heart right now!
Romans 14:17. That’s where you belong! Intoxicating joy! Church Gist. They thought they were drunk when the Holy Ghost came. Intoxicating joy!
-From this time on, every siege of sorrow, every siege of depression tormenting anyone under the sound of my voice around the World. Church Gist. You are loosed from them.
So, we are redeemed as children of favour. We are born of favour, we are to abound with favour. Psalms 5:12. You (God) cocoon him, You package him in favour, it’s a favour personality. Who is the Righteous? He became sin for us that we may be made what? The righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Church Gist. So by redemption, we are the One the Old Testament refers to as the Righteous. All we need is never to sell off our right, our birthright of favour to sin. Romans 6:1. The shield (of favour) will be off when we start celebrating sin. Praise God! So, we are redeemed to be surrounded, to be cocooned, to be packaged in favour.
-And so from tonight, everywhere your name is mentioned, favour will answer!
We are redeemed into a world of favour. John 10:10b. He has given us all things that make for life and godliness. 2 Peter 1:3. All things! Nothing left! Let’s wind back again! We discovered (that) favour is the birthright of every seed of Abraham. Know that every one that is born again is a seed of Abraham. Galatians 3:29. Every child of God is a spiritual Jew. Romans 2:28-29. So every child of God is a spiritual Jew, so we are bonafide seed of Abraham. Church Gist. And if you check the ages, the seed of Abraham enjoys supernatural favour; in fact, call it fearful favour! Trace them wherever they are found, under any hard condition, favour always distinguishes them. I mentioned that the other time; think of Joseph. He was to be killed, favour preserved him. He became a slave? Favour distinguished him. Genesis 39:3-5. The Man (Pharaoh) committed all of his estates to Joseph’s hand. Thrown unjustly into the Prison? Favour was there! They had a problem in the Nation? They sent for someone from the Prison not from the University – From the Prison! Not from research center, from the Prison! Not among politicians, from the Prison!
-When favour comes, they will look for you! Favour will locate you wherever you are!
And he (Joseph) came up and then he unravelled the issue and instead of them to say: ‘Okay! You have been discharged from the Prison, go to your village’, they said: ‘Okay! You are in charge of this thing now! Church Gist. Nobody understands what you are saying, nobody can handle it like you. Joseph, the whole Egypt is before you, according to your word we shall be ruled’. Genesis 41:40. ‘I hand over to you, Joseph! I hand over to you! I become a ceremonial king, you are the real king. My God’!
-Come on say: ‘Favour’!
Every seed of Abraham is ordained to command favour under any circumstances.
-So I don’t know where you are now but favour will locate you! Favour will decorate you!
And then we have a young lady here by name, Esther. Church Gist. A captive girl who became the Queen of the King of Babylon, the strongest king of those days. Favour, found her!
-Favour will find you!!!
Then we saw Nehemiah, a captive who was a cupbearer in the King’s Palace. Nehemiah 1:1. And by favour, he made some requests that will even lead to death but no, it led to life. How can a domestic staff say he was going to the City to go and rebuild the Wall, with what? What does he have? Church Gist. But favour had it. He (The King) said: ‘Okay! What do you make requests for’? He said: ‘Ehee! Everything oo, everything! The wood, the journey, the security, everything, king’! Are you hearing? And the King granted him all that he desired because of favour. Nehemiah 2:8.
-Your encounter tonight will mark a difference in your life! It will mark a new beginning in your journey!
There is no skill, no strength, no capacity that will ever match favour in value. We saw David when they were counting people in the family, they didn’t count him. God brought him out, sent for him. ‘Don’t you have another son’? Church Gist. He said: ‘Eh! No, that’s not a son, that’s just a playboy’ (Laughing). He said: ‘That’s the King, we are not going to sit down until he comes’. So from following the sheep about in the Wilderness, he landed in the Palace.
– Favour will change anybody’s position!
Every seed of Abraham has a seal of favour on their forehead, your own will start manifesting!
-1 Chronicles 28:4. Somebody is here tonight, God will smile on you!!!
When God’s favour descends, anything happens.
-That (Favour) is descending on you right now in the name of Jesus Christ.
Now, please note that while we are born of favour, there are things to do to provoke the manifestation of favour. Just like the same way by redemption, He took our infirmity, but there’s what to do to actualize your healing, health and wholeness in Christ. Church Gist. By redemption, we are born of favour to enjoy abounding favour, unending favour, ever increasing favour. But there’s what to do, there are things we must do to actualize this in our lives.
Our quest to manifest His favour all through our journey demands the following:
1. A proven salvation experience.
Things have been so battered in these last days. They rarely can pick the difference between a Christian and a non-Christian anymore. Same games. Church Gist. In those days when they say somebody is a believer and he does something, you say “and you say you’re a Christian?” You hardly hear that anymore. That’s why I call it a proven experience of salvation. But it’s so simple to know. Matthew 7:20-23. “By their fruits, you shall know them”. You don’t gather gauva from mango tree. 2 Corinthians 5:17. Galatians 5:22. By their fruits you shall know them, whether they belong there or not. 2 Corinthians 13:5. Church Gist. The journey into a world of favour begins with a proven salvation experience. That’s how to become a child of favour. That’s what makes you a seed of Abraham. 2 Corinthians 13:5. Church Gist. You don’t need any external examiner. He said, “examine yourself”. When grace is absent, check it. Don’t try to cover, check it. “Why am I struggling? What’s going on?” Psalm 11:3. One can be in Church for 50 years without a change of story. A proven salvation experience is gateway to a world of favour. Church Gist. Your election is supposed to culminate in glorification. Romans 8:29-30. So, it’s not about shame. Let’s check it.
– in the Precious name of Jesus, everything that makes a man a hypocrite in his own matter comes to an end tonight!
I heard that Word, “it may be long but it’s not late”. It’s never late to be right. About God, you can’t jump the queue, no gatecrashing. “I know my sheep, I call them by their name”. Church Gist. Now, some have been there before but they’re gone. They know they’re gone, they know there’s a disconnect and until you return, you cannot be restored. The prodigal son was at the verge of death and he said, “wait a minute, I mustn’t disappear from here”. Church Gist. Pigs will eat him up sir. You’re employed to keep the pigs, you die, they’ll just give it to the pigs to eat. Who wants to dig ground for somebody they don’t know.
– I see amazing returns tonight back to the Heavenly father!
As he (the prodigal son) returned, favoure was showered on him. I mean, they put a ring on his hand. Ring? How? He walked back home barefooted, tattered, battered and beaten but he returned.
– Somebody has to return tonight and as you return, you’ll be showered with favour.
– give the Lord the biggest hand of praise everybody!
It’s the way it works. We need to get back to the foundation and be true to ourselves.
2. Be committed to the fear of the Lord as a lifestyle like Joseph.
Genesis 42:18. Daniel was manifesting unusual favour in the land of Babylon through the fear of God. Church Gist. They couldn’t find anything amiss in his life for he was a faithful man. Daniel 6:4-5. No one walking in the fear of God ever runs out of favour.
– in the precious name of Jesus, no one here shall be deceived anymore!
There’s no human person or system that will be able to deliver what God’s favour has in store for you. No one.
3. To provoke the favour of God in our lives, we need a proven love for God as in David, a man after God’s own heart. A man with a heart for God; a man with undying love for God. And the response? God liked him to make him King. Church Gist. 1 Samuel 13:14. 1 Chronicles 28:4. He was a man with a heart for God, a man with undying love for God and God in return liked him to make him King over all Israel. 1 Corinthians 2:9. I mean, you went to war and by the grace of God, you brought down Goliath and that made you Chief of Staff. What a joy. I mean, you didn’t go to any military training and then everybody subscribes to you. Church Gist. Tiny boy, not married. He behaved himself wisely, everybody lined up behind him. Favour. With a proven heart and undying love for God.
We know that all things work together for good to them that love God. He said, “my son, give me your heart and watch what I’ll do with your life. Give me your heart first and watch what I will do with your life next”. Proverbs 23:26.
4. Good understanding as found in Daniel.
Supernatural insight as found in Daniel. The King bowed down and worshipped him, “Daniel, take over. I hand over to you”. Proverbs 13:15. Church Gist. Good understanding procures favour. You can’t bear a solution to a situation without enjoying favour in return. You can’t. Proverbs 13:15.
– supernatural insight will return with you from this service in the name of Jesus!
Psalm 25:14. Insight drawn through the fear of God. Joseph said, “I fear God” and you saw the solution he brought about in Egypt that made him ruler of the land. Church Gist. The fear of God is a breeding ground for insight. Satan is just hunting after precious souls, don’t let him catch you.
5. Kingdom advancement sacrifice.
We found that also in David. 1 Chronicles 29:3. God said, “you won’t build me a house”. He said, “okay. Can I collect materials for it?” He wouldn’t let go. Psalm 132:3-4. See how his throne is still flourishing today. Church Gist. You can imagine Jesus the Isaiah being called “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy of me”. He said, “yes, you’re right. That’s who I am”. Revelations 3:7. Sold out to the Kingdom. Psalm 102:13-15. Fearful order of blessings usually attend to those who mind the Kingdom. Attend to them naturally without begging, without confession. It comes on them. Church Gist. The time to favour them comes when their heart turns after God. Psalm 34:10. Matthew 6:33. Explosive favour is the portion and the lot of those who have a place for the Kingdom of God in their lives. It flows. Church Gist. He will set you a table in the presence of your enemies and your cup is running over, they can’t do anything about it. Your cup is running over, your enemies are looking and gnashing their teeth, they can’t come near.
– that’s the realm you’re entering into!
– if you’re sure that is you, give the Lord a big hand of praise.
As we round up, let’s look at a few things here that I term: ‘Wonders of Favour’. What does favour offer? What are the proofs of favour in our lives?
1. Favour opens up destinies.
Joseph’s destiny was already closed. He was already called dead. Church Gist. If he had ever attempted to escape from the House of Slavery; oh, they will kill him because the brothers will see him before the Father and they will say he is a ghost, they will kill him! The destiny of Joseph was buried but favour opened it up.
-Every buried destiny shall be opened up tonight.
Favour opens up the destiny of God’s people.
2. Favour promotes.
You came as a slave, in a moment you took charge of the Kitchen affairs and laundry. In a moment, you took charge of the Estate and then you became the envy of the Madam of the House. Church Gist. Genesis 39:3-5. In no time, you find yourself in prison. Genesis 39:20. And after a while, you became the Controller of all that is done in the Prison. Genesis 39:21-22. How? Favour promotes.
-You will never be stranded in your life again.
And ultimately got him into the Palace as the Prime Minister of Egypt. Church Gist. Genesis 39:22. Genesis 41:40. Favour promotes.
-You will never know stagnation again!
Psalms 75:6-7. Favour is what makes the difference.
-You will never suffer stagnation in your life again.
3. Favour triggers supernatural breakthroughs.
Psalms 44:3. Breakthroughs without struggles are vital proofs of favour. Breakthroughs without struggles! The kind your Church has been enjoying for over 40 years. Church Gist. Breakthroughs without struggles!! Breakthroughs without stress! That’s what favour offers.
-And that becomes your portion from now!
-The greatest events in your life from henceforth shall be without stress.
4. Favour enthrones.
Genesis 39:3-5. Favour enthrones! He (Joseph) found favour and it enthroned him. Genesis 39:21-22. Favour enthrones under any circumstance. Church Gist. You know? We have been redeemed as kings and priests to reign on the Earth. Revelation 5:10. But favour is one vital covenant force that enthrones a believer.
5. Favour opens doors to financial fortune.
Exodus 12:36. There was transfer of wealth, supernatural transfer of wealth. Favour brought it about.
-Nothing in your hand will fail. A thousand might fall at your side and ten thousand at thy right hand, they will not come near you.
Favour opens doors to financial fortune.
6. Favour makes highflyers.
We saw how the Man, Nehemiah by the favour of God in Nehemiah 2 became the Governor of Judah in Nehemiah 5:14. Church Gist. Favour! Favour makes highflyers. Favour! Favour makes highflyers; from a cupbearer to a governor. Favour makes highflyers!!!
-You will never be grounded in your journey anymore in the name of Jesus.
Good news!
7. Favour preserves.
-No life under the sound of my voice and those who will hear this Message some time will have their lives cut short. As they ganged up against Daniel, Favour preserved him. Church Gist. They threw him into the Den of Lion and God shut the mouth of the Lion. He was a man cocooned in God’s favour and that preserved him.
-Favour will preserve you.
8. And finally, favour secures posterity.
Favour secures your tomorrow, your generation. Favour secures posterity! By favour, God took Abraham at (age) 75 and made a giant out of him. Church Gist. No identity! We were not even told he was packing, there was nothing to pack and suddenly, he emerged an emperor with an army to himself. Genesis 14:14. Genesis 22:16-17. So while the Earth remains, Abraham’s blessing continues. It (Favour) secures posterity. Amen!
