EVERYTHING ABOUT GOD IS SUPER BIG, SO HE DOES NOT EXPECT YOU TO TREAT HIM CASUALLY
IF YOU WANT TO EULOGIZE, CELEBRATE, OR SHOW THAT YOU APPRECIATE GOD, DO IT IN A BIG WAY
I ALWAYS ASK YOU TO SHOUT, HALLELUYAH, BECAUSE I AM PREPARING YOU FOR HEAVEN
THE POWER OF A SHOUT IS THAT ALL THAT IS WITHIN YOU WILL BE INVOLVED. A SHOUT IS NOTHING CASUAL.
GOD WANTS YOUR FULL ATTENTION (YOUR SHOUT) FOR HIM TO MOVE THE IMMOVABLE FOR YOU AND PULL DOWN YOUR WALL OF JERICHO
HEAVEN IS NOT A QUIET PLACE. IF YOU DON’T LIKE NOISE, DON’T GO TO HEAVEN
IF ALL THE PEOPLE WILL PRAISE GOD, OUR GOD WILL SO BLESS US THAT THE WHOLE EARTH WILL FEAR HIM
GOD WANTS YOU TO SHOUT BECAUSE YOU ARE MORE THAN A CONQUEROR AND THE WINNING SIDE IS THE SHOUTING SIDE
LEARN TO PRAISE GOD AND THOSE WHO ARE MOCKING YOU WILL COME AND BOW DOWN BEFORE YOU
LEARN TO PRAISE GOD AND THERE’S NO YOKE THAT WILL BE ABLE TO STAY, YOUR ENEMIES WILL BECOME YOUR SERVANTS
– Pastor E. A. Adeboye on ‘FOR WHOM THE HEAVENS OPEN – Part 28’ at RCCG Online Sunday Service || 29th October, 2023 ||
We will move on to part 28 of our series, “FOR WHOM THE HEAVENS OPEN” using Joshua as our example. We have learnt about the beauty of silence because we said wise people are usually quiet and a fool is known by the multitude of words. I’m sure since last Sunday you probably must have been re-examining your relationship with some talkative people. Church Gist. They shouldn’t be your friends because if they have nothing else to say in any case they are likely to reveal your secrets as they talk. The Elders have a saying, “what a wise man has said in the secret you will hear it from the mouth of the fool in public.” Learn to be quiet – that’s where the beauty of silence lies.
But we want to move further now. There are several other things still in Joshua 6 and there are still many many things we still want to learn from the life of Joshua so we are going to move to Joshua 6:20 – that means we have jumped many verses. Church Gist. Well, at least that’s the way I feel- if the Holy Spirit says, “no, go back and learn everything, take it verse by verse,” you trust me, I will obey. But for now, Joshua 6:20. Do I hear somebody shout, halleluyah? … because I want to talk to you today about the power of a shout.
Everything about God, our God, is super big, gigantic, there’s nothing small about God at all – absolutely nothing! His legs according to Isaiah 66:1, his legs reach all the way from Heaven to the Earth – those legs are long. His arms, they are everlasting arms. Deuteronomy 33:27. His eyes, they’re big. 2 Chronicles 16:9. His nose, ah! (laughs) Exodus 15:8 – when he breathed on the Sea, the Sea parted. Church Gist. You must know that’s not an ordinary nose. His ears, wow, they’re big. Psalm 65:2. You can imagine the ears that can hear all the prayers of all flesh at the same time. His position, extremely high – Psalm 91:1; Ecclesiastes 5:8. His resources – Psalm 24:1; Haggai 2:8; Psalm 50:10. His power? When you talk about super powers? Psalm 62:11. He is the Almighty, all sufficient (Genesis 17:1).
Everything about God is super big, large, gigantic, super great. So you can understand that he says, “when you’re dealing with me, don’t treat me casually. I’m not your toy, not your size, rank. Don’t treat me as you would treat your earthly father or mother, your governor or your president, I am super.” He says, if you want to eulogize me, celebrate me, you want to show that you appreciate me, do it in a big way. Church Gist. My Father said in Psalm 47:1, (I love my Daddy, I’m proud of him.) Psalm 47:1 – he is calling on everybody on Earth and saying, “you want to clap for me? All of you do it together! May be the combination of all your clapping will show an appreciation of how big I am.” Revelation 5:11 – shows the size of His Choir. The Bible calls his angels, those who are singing his praises, thousand times thousand, ten thousand times ten thousand and then, thousands of thousands – talk of mass choir!
You know the Almighty God said, Psalm 98:8 – let the floods clap their hands, that’s why you find what you call ‘the waves’ constantly, the waters in the Ocean rising and coming down, crashing down, clapping. Isaiah 55:12. The Bible said His Choir never rests – day or night. Revelation 4:8. Church Gist. I like something which will probably explain to you why I always ask you to shout, halleluyah, because it’s a preparation. I’m preparing you for Heaven because Heaven is not a quiet place. If you don’t like noise, don’t go to Heaven. Revelation 19:6 – I like that. So those of you who are listening to me now may I just give you an opportunity to shout, halleluyah!
To get his attention, he expects all people to praise him. Psalm 67:5-7. He has the ability to bless you in a fearful way. We are talking about God, the Almighty. He has a way of blessing you in such a manner that you say, this is too much, and he will say, I’ve not started. He has a way of anointing your head with oil and the cup will keep running over and he will say, I have much more where this is coming from. Church Gist. I thank the Almighty God for the sayings of the Elders, “when God decides to fight for you, by the time He finishes, even you will be afraid” – that’s God. So he is saying, if all the people will praise Him, our God will so bless us that the whole earth will fear him. He can give you fearful blessings. You know what? When somebody as great as that is on the move, it takes quite a bit of noise to herald his coming. When someone the size of our God is on the move, you are likely to hear noise. Acts 2:1-4; 1 Kings 19:9-12; 1 Samuel 4:4-5. The power of a shout is that God wants your full attention. You want him to do something for you? You want him to pull down your wall of Jericho? Church Gist. You want him to move the immovable for you? He wants you to approach him with full attention – nobody shouts casually. A shout is nothing casual.
When you shout, all that is within you will be involved. Psalm 103:1. If you shout, it’s not just your voice doing the job now, your liver, heart, lungs, everything will be involved in a shout. Deuteronomy 4:29. When the Bible says, he is listening to the prayers of all flesh, he is busy taking care of everybody in the whole world and you want to get his attention? One individual? He asks you to shout. You want to get my attention? Church Gist. Open your mouth and shout. When he said, clap your hands all ye people, what did he say next? Shout unto God. He loves shouting. He says, make a joyful noise unto the Lord all ye Earth. Oh I know my respected Elders will tell me that, in the house of God there should be silence. Believe me honestly, they have passages to quote to support that (for example) Habakkuk 2:20. (Referring to Habakkuk 2:20) that’s when he wants to talk so you can hear him. Oh that’s true, how are you going to hear him if he wants to talk and you’re rowdy? But he dwells in the praises of His people. He comes in when you’re praising him, but you will enter his gates with thanksgiving, come into his courts with praise – praise him, shout, jump. Miracles can happen when you shout.
Some of you will remember the story of a lady – wealthy woman, just discovered that she had a problem. Whatever she eats, she vomits. She went everywhere, the doctors did all kinds of tests, they couldn’t find anything wrong. Church Gist. She came to Ebute-Metta and I just said, let everybody shout halleluyah and she opened her mouth to shout, out came a worm. That worm must have been demonic because it didn’t appear on any of the x-rays and that was the end of the problem. May be somebody should shout halleluyah!
The Bible says, shout. Why? Because you are his children. He loves you and because he loves you, you’re more than a conqueror and the winning side is the shouting side. 1 Samuel 17:51-52. Church Gist. All of you who are pretending that you can’t open your mouth to shout, that you’re too sophisticated to shout, that butter can’t melt in your mouth, when you’re on the football field in the stadium and your team scores a goal, you will forget that your Governor, your President, your Chief, you will shout!
– My prayer for everyone of you is that you will never shout in pain!
It says, make a joyful noise. You’re a Victor and winners are always shouting. Church Gist. 1 Thessalonians 4:16 – oh, my Daddy loves trumpets because it can make quite a good noise.
When you’re stingy with praising God, you rob yourself of many benefits. I’ll give you just one example. Acts 16:25-40. Just 2 people having a night vigil and every prisoner in the prison heard – they were not doing quietly. Church Gist. Suddenly, the Lord of Hosts arrived because he said, “I am seeking for Worshippers; anywhere people are worshipping me, I will show up,” he showed up. What happened?
1. The ground shook because the one who arrived, his legs are big legs. Anytime he is moving the Earth will begin to shake, by the time he arrives there will be an earthquake. Prison doors were flung open and because the anointed one had come, anointing destroyed the yoke – everybody’s bands were loosed. The Jailer became their servant – one who was supposed to keep them safe was the one who washed their wounds and provided food for them. By the following morning those who threw them into prison came to beg them out. Learn to praise Him and nobody can bind you! Learn to praise Him, there’s no yoke that will be able to stay. Church Gist. Learn to praise Him, your enemies will become your servants. Learn to praise Him and those who are mocking you will come and bow down before you. The choice is yours. The next time I ask you to praise God, do it whichever way you like – quietly or with all your strength.
Salvation Call: for those of you who are not born again, how can you begin to praise the One that you have not yet called Lord? Church Gist. But if you cross over to his side and begin to praise Him like you ought to, you will experience the power of praise and your life will never remain the same.
