IT IS ONE THING TO HAVE EYES AND HAVE NO VISION. IT TAKES AN INSIGHT, ABILITY TO SEE INTO THE FUTURE TO MAKE ONE SPECIAL AND GREAT
I SAW CONGREGATIONS OF MULTITUDES FROM KENNETH HAGIN AND YONGGI CHO AND CRIED TO THE LORD FOR IT. TODAY, I’M STILL SEEING AND FOCUSING ON SOMETHING EVEN GREATER
YOU CANNOT ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD IF YOU CANNOT SEE IT. TO SEE, GIVE YOUR LIFE TO JESUS CHRIST FIRST
I FOCUS ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST BECAUSE I WANT TO BECOME MORE LIKE HIM IN EVERY DETAIL OF LIFE.
FOCUS ON THINGS THAT WILL BE PLEASING UNTO GOD AND GOD WILL TAKE YOU TO HEIGHTS THAT YOU CANNOT EVEN IMAGINE
satan IS FULLY AWARE OF HOW WHAT YOU SEE COULD COMPLETELY TRUNCATE YOUR DESTINY.
YOUR EYES HAVE A ROLE TO PLAY IN YOUR JOURNEY TO THE PROMISED LAND
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST DID NOT ALLOW WHAT THE devil WAS SHOWING HIM TO DERAIL HIS MISSION BUT GEHAZI LOST ALL OPPORTUNITIES BECAUSE OF WHAT HE SAW
THE ORIGINAL SIN CAME BECAUSE EVE “SAW” AND LOT MADE A CHOICE BASED ON WHAT HE SAW BUT LOST EVERYTHING IN GOMORRAH
ANYTHING YOU WILL SEE THIS YEAR THAT WILL DERAIL YOU FROM THE PLAN OF GOD FOR YOU, THE ALMIGHTY GOD WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO SEE IT.
PHYSICAL BLINDNESS MIGHT BE TERRIBLE BUT EVEN SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS IS WORST.
IT TAKES THE ALMIGHTY GOD OPENING YOUR SPIRITUAL EYES TO SEE HIDDEN TREASURES IN THE WORD OF GOD.
THE EYE IS THE LIGHT OF THE BODY AND BLINDNESS COULD MEAN STAGNATION, POVERTY, LONELINESS
THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE ANY FORM OF EYE PROBLEM AT ALL, THE GOD THAT I SERVE WILL GIVE YOU BRAND NEW EYES!
– Pastor E. A. Adeboye on “FOR WHOM THE HEAVENS OPEN – Part 35” at RCCG Online Sunday Service || 14th January, 2024 ||
Some of us might still be wondering why we are still talking about Joshua in the New Year. It is because if you’re looking for a classical example of divine repositioning, you will find it in Joshua too because to move from being a messenger to the position of head of state, that is a massive repositioning that can only happen through the assistance of the Almighty God. Church Gist. The last time we met at this particular channel for online Sunday Service we discussed the fact that, Achan must die. We have several illustrations of people who had an Achan in their lives and the Achan prevented them from reaching their goals. I believe the last example we gave was probably Moses. His own Achan was that he could get angry just once in a while. Then, just when he was about to enter into the Promised Land, his Achan rose up against him and he missed the greatest opportunity of his life.
We are going to talk a little more about Achan. As a matter of fact we will be discussing Achan for a couple of Sundays to come because Achan must die. Anything that will not allow us to reach our goal must die. Church Gist. Joshua 7:19-21. We want to talk briefly about the role of your eyes in your journey to the Promised Land because Achan said here, “I saw.”
The original sin came in Genesis 3:1-6. The Bible said, “Eve saw,” she saw that the tree was good for food and pleasant to the eyes. It was because she saw that the original sin came. Genesis 13:1-11. The Bible said in verse 10 that Lot lifted up his eyes and saw the land towards Sodom and Gomorrah that the land is beautiful and well watered and he chose that land. You know the result of what he saw that led to his choice. Genesis 14:1-12. Church Gist. He was taken captive; he became a prisoner of war all because he saw. Genesis 19:15-38 – Lot lost all; he lost every property that he gained in Gomorrah because while he was slow to escape, the Angel hurried him. On the way to salvation, his wife looked back and became a pillar of salt. Oh yes, he escaped with his two daughters but at the end of the story, the 2 daughters got him drunk one night after the other and they became mothers of children for their father. So what are you seeing?
– What you will see that will destroy your legacy, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, you will never see them again!
Now when you go on to Samson, you know his story very well. He kept on seeing the wrong thing. Judges 14:1-18; Judges 16:1-3: Judges 16:4-21. Church Gist. He kept seeing until the enemy got him and plucked out his eyes. He never became what he could have become.
– Anything at all that will work against your destiny, if you’re still looking at them, in the name that is above every other name you will never see them again!
I will give you yet another example in 2 Kings 5:1-27. It tells us the story of the man called Gehazi. The man who could have become the most powerful prophet of the Old Testament, the man who could have inherited a double portion of the anointing of Elisha which means that he could have inherited a 4 time portion of the anointing of Elijah but he lost it all and instead became a leper. Why? Because he saw the wealth that Naaman brought with him. Church Gist. The Bible said that Naaman came with 10 talents of silver, 6,000 pieces of gold and 10 changes of raiment. When his master said, “no, the power to heal you was given to me for free, I can’t charge you for it. Go, I don’t need your money,” Gehazi said, “ah, my master is allowing this Syrian to go without taking something from him. Me, I will pursue him and take something off him.” You know the rest of the story, he saw and pursued and took what he wanted to take that’s why he ended up a leper.
When you read Matthew 4:1-11, you will see that satan is fully aware of how what you see could completely truncate your destiny. The Bible said he showed the whole world to the Lord Jesus Christ and said, “Look at the whole world, look at the glory thereof. Church Gist. All you need to do is just bow down to me, worship me and I will give them all to you.” Thank God the Lord did not allow what the devil was showing him to derail his mission.
– I am praying for you again, this beginning of a great New Year that anything that you will see that will derail you from the plan that God has for you, the Almighty God will not allow you to see it.
Now, you will begin to wonder then, “the eyes must be very dangerous as part of the body.” Well, according to Matthew 6:22-23, the Bible calls the eye the light of the body and I’m telling you, it’s not a good thing at all to be blind. If you consider the story of Bartimaeus in Mark 10:46-52, you will see some of the horrors of being blind. Church Gist. It could mean stagnation, poverty, loneliness, quite a lot of terrible things.
– I’m praying from the bottom of my heart, that all those of you who have any form of eye problem at all, the God that I serve will give you brand new eyes!
Isaiah 6:1-10 – physical blindness might be terrible but even spiritual blindness is worst. The Almighty God told Isaiah, I want to wipe out a group of people, the only way I can do it is that I will make them blind. Church Gist. If they won’t see, then they won’t be able to repent so I won’t be able to save them. So those of you who are listening to me today who are still in spiritual blindness of any type, I pray that before today is over, God will open your eyes!
How important the eyes could be to the body, is further illustrated in Mark 8:22-25. It tells us the story of a man who was blind and was brought to Jesus Christ. The first time Jesus touched his eyes, he said he could see men like trees and the Almighty God gave him the second touch. That’s the only story in the Bible where Jesus touched somebody twice. It has to do with the issue of seeing because he wants you to see but to see perfectly. There are certain things that only blessed eyes could see. Church Gist. Matthew 13:14-17. David prayed a prayer in Psalm 119:18. It takes the Almighty God opening your spiritual eyes to see hidden treasures in the Word of God. Two people can read the same passage of the Bible and one will see nothing – just what is written on paper and yet another can sit down for one week and begin to tell you hidden truths in just one verse of the Scriptures.
– I pray for everyone of you listening to me today that God will open your spiritual eyes!
2 Kings 2:9-15. The day when Elijah was to be taken away, he asked Elisha what can I do for you before I be taken away from you? The boy said, I want a double portion of your spirit. Elijah said, you have asked a hard thing but if you see me – take note the condition, the only condition, “if you see me” – when I’m taken away from you, then it will be so unto you if not, you won’t get what you say you want. Church Gist. The greatest moment in the life of Elisha, deciding point is: can he see or will he not see? That’s why when the invisible became visible to him, when he saw horses of fire, chariots of fire coming to take his master home, he shouted to let the master know, “I see you o.” He said, “My Father my father, the chariots of Israel and the horsemen thereof, I can see what ordinary eyes cannot see.”
There was a woman who was born blind who was talking and said, “my case is better than many of you. I have no eyes but I have vision. Some of you have eyes but you have no vision.” It is one thing to have eyes – ordinary eyes – and have no vision. It takes an insight, ability to see the invisible, ability to see into the future to make a man or a woman special and great. Church Gist. So it all depends on what your eyes are focused on. In the case of Achan his eyes were focused on the things that the Almighty God says, “hey don’t touch.” These things are mine. He said, “ooh, I saw silver, I saw gold, I saw raiment and that’s why I coveted them.”
What are you focusing on? … because in this New Year, your focus is going to determine your future. Colossians 3:1-4. You should focus on things that will be pleasing unto God and God will take you to heights that you cannot even imagine.
I will tell you a story before I close and it has to do with me: when I became the General Overseer, the Redeemed Christian Church of God was small, much smaller than we are now because we are still small. But I want the Church to grow, I want the Church of God to be big because I know my life depends on this Church growing – ah, I forsook all to become the General Overseer. Then I heard of a man called Kenneth Hagin that when he is holding his convention or camp meeting as they call it, thousands of people will come. So I said I will go and see. Church Gist. I went and I saw and I saw for the first time in my life, a congregation of some 17,000 people – they came from all over the world. Hey! At that time, the Redeemed Christian Church of God was at the biggest convention less than 700 people. I saw; I cried to God. Years passed, things began to improve. Then I heard of a man called Yonggi Cho that he is a pastor of the biggest Church in the whole world in South Korea. So I went and I saw. I saw a pastor that holds 7 services in a day on Sunday. Each service packed into an auditorium that can sit 50,000 people. Huh! That’s where for the first time I heard a pastor begging his congregation that those of you who come this Sunday, don’t come next Sunday so that those who could not come this Sunday might be able to come. Church Gist. I saw and I cried to God. Today, I’m grateful to God but I’m still seeing, still focusing on something even greater still because you see, in 2 Corinthians 3:18, I’m focusing on the Lord Jesus Christ because I want to become more like him in every detail of life.
What are you focusing on? What you see will determine what you will become.
As for those of you who have not given your life to Jesus Christ, it will amaze you to hear what is written in John 3:1-3. You have to see the Kingdom of God before you can even think of entering into it. For your eyes to open to the glory that is waiting ahead for the children of God, you have to give your life to Jesus Christ first. Church Gist. That’s why I’m begging you today that you will come and surrender your life to Jesus Christ so that he will open your eyes and you can begin to see the glory that lies ahead for every child of God.
