1 Kings 17:1
Elijah the Tishbite who was a nobody walked into the presence of the King and said as the Lord God Almighty lives, l shut the Heavens over you, no more rain, no more dew until l call for it and he walked out if the palace.
The worst attack on an enemy is to close the Heavens over the fellow
Amos 4:7-8
When God wants to show His anger, he will allow rain to fall on the city and keep the other cities really dry. The result is, the city that got the rain will prosper, the cities without the rain will wither and then the cities that wither will go to the city that has rain to get water to drink.
All the enemies waging war against any of you my children, right now the Heavens will be shut over them.
For you to go higher, you need open heavens. Heavens must be open over you if you are ever to go higher because if the Heavens is shut, not only will you not be able to go higher but you will begin to wither.
Why is Open Heavens so crucial?
When the Heavens is open, the fellow could receive;
- Divine Visitations
Exodus 3:1-15, Moses was in exile for forty years. At eighty he was at the back of the desert watching over his father-inlaw’s flocks. The Heaven opened unto him then he had a divine visitation and the tide turned. Moses began to climb steadily upward. - When the Heaven opens for someone, he gets an affirmation from Heaven. The Almighty God says something about the fellow and whatever God says about you is what you will be.
Romans 4:17
Judges 7:15-25, Gideon was hiding in a cage from the enemies, the Almighty God appeared unto him because the Heavens opened up to him. The Lord called him a Mighty Man of Valor.
Whatever God calls you is what you will become.
I pray for someone listening to me, the Heavens will open and the Almighty God will call you Mighty Man/Woman because that is what you will become.
Luke 5:1-11, Jesus called Peter fisher of men. By the time the Heaven opened up to him in Acts: 2:1-4, dramatic changes happened in the life of Peter. By the time we got to Acts 5:12-15, from the Ministry of a failed fisher man, multitudes came into the Kingdom of God.
- When the Heavens opens for a man, destiny of the man will become activated.
Moses knew that he was born to be great, Exodus 2:1-25. By the time the Heavens opened on to him in Exodus 3:1-23, he had forgotten about being a deliverer but his destiny activated.
1 Kings 19:19-21, when Elisha was busy as a farmer, Elijah passed by and threw his mantle upon him, Elisha knew what that meant. He didn’t prophesy until 2 Kings 2:9-15 when Elisha became a prophet. When the Heavens opens, your destiny becomes activated.
Galatians 1:15, Paul said God has separated me to Himself from my mother’s womb. But nothing happened while he went to school and was persecuting Christians, he was going to the opposite direction of the plan of God for His life until Acts 9:1-21, when the Heavens opened unto him and his destiny became activated.
I am praying for you, today the Heavens will open for you and whatever you are born to become, will become activated today.
- When the Heavens opens to somebody, it can make a difference between life and death.
Genesis 32:1-28, Jacob was going home after he had being in exile. That night the Heavens opened to Jacob, an angel appeared and they wrestled. In Genesis 33:1-5, death had been changed to life for Jacob. The man coming to kill him came to embrace him because the Heavens was opened. Jacob became Israel.
May l decree to someone who has been destined to die soon, in the Mighty name of Jesus Christ, your appointment with death is cancelled.
- When the Heavens opens to someone, the fellow will begin to see visions from God.

How do l get the Heavens to open for me?
Deuteronomy 28:1-13
When the Heavens is open, you will be blessed so mightily. Enemies will come in one way and flee in seven ways. When the Heavens is opened unto you, you will discover that you will no longer borrow, you will lend to nations. When the Heavens is opened unto you, you will see your promotion being accelerated as you begin to reach the top and stay there.
The condition is simple if you harken diligently to the voice of the Lord to observe and to do all that He commands you, then the Heavens will open.
One of the conditions for an open heaven is in Malachi 3:10. The enemy does not want you to hear anything like paying your tithe at all, that is why they tell you it is in the Old Testament. You want the Heavens to open; obey all the instructions including bringing all the tithes into His store house so that there will be food in the house of God.
The bigger question is what do l do to avoid the Heaven being closed over me ?
The answer is very simple, your obedience to God must be complete not halfway.
Revelation 3:15-16.
1 Samuel 15:1-35 (the story of Saul and the Amalekites) God closed the Heavens over King Saul, 1 Samuel 28:3-25.
I pray for you, the Heavens will never close unto you.
One of the signs that the Heavens is closed is that a problem will come and your relative, the you have been preaching to will come to you and say don’t you think we should see a witch doctor?
May the Heavens never close over you.
Suppose the Heavens is already closed is there a way to convince the Almighty God to say please open the Heavens again? Yes!
2 Chronicles 7:13-14
- Humble yourself and turn from your evil ways, seek my face, I will hear from heaven, l will hear their cry, l will open the Heavens and heal their land.
Are you operating under closed heavens? Is everything going from bad to worst? Are you at a stage where you don’t know what to do? Humble yourself
James 4:6.
You want to go higher, learn from the Lord Jesus Christ in Philippians 2:5-12.
If the Heavens have been shut and you want it open today, humble yourself.
When l joined RCCG, l was the highly educated person in the Church. It wasn’t long until l became the interpreter. There weren’t much interpreters. The General Superintendent took special interest in me, they left me alone with him. If any other pastor wants to preach they will take the other interpreters and l was feeling great as the special interpreter. One day a pastor made a mistake and invited me to come and interprete for him, l was very upset. Who does he think he is to invite me, the interpreter of the General Superintendent. The Service was over and on my way to my car the Lord spoke to me loud and clear because when l gave my life to Christ l started to hear from God, l know when there will be traffic in a particular road and I’d avoid it. God said ‘so you are now too big to interprete for my servant’. Everything went silent for days l didn’t hear a word form God. I ran into every traffic in Lagos. I prayed, l cried but God remained silent until l was desperate and prayed to Him to restore me this once that if l will offend Him tomorrow, He should take me away today. Some of us learnt these things the hard way. As soon as l got to that level, God started talking to me again. I can assure you He still talks to me.
I am begging you my children, humble yourselves. Remain humble, the higher you go, the humbler you become. You cannot afford closed heavens if you are to get to where God wants you to get to.
Those of you who haven’t given your life to Christ, it is pride that is keeping you away from open heavens. Humble yourself, surrender to Him today and He will save your soul. Wherever you are cry to Him and say Lord l won’t struggle anymore, l surrender to You please save my soul and l will follow you for the rest of my life.
