IT IS AMAZING THAT PEOPLE PRAY WITHOUT DEFINING THEIR EXPECTATION.
HOW CAN YOU KNOW THE ANSWER IF YOU DON’T RECOGNIZE THE QUESTION YOU ARE ASKING? LET’S UNDERSTAND THAT SPECIFICS ARE VITAL.

WHEN A PRAYER IS UNANSWERED, THE ISSUE IS NOT WITH THE PRAYER ANSWERING GOD BUT WITH THE PRAYER OFFERING MAN.

THE SIDE OF GOD IS SETTLED BEFORE THE PRAYER IS OFFERED.
THE MAN PRAYING IS THE ONE THAT IS THE QUESTIONABLE FACTOR.

THERE ARE A NUMBER OF AREAS WHERE MAN CAN MALFUNCTION BUT ONE OF THEM IS THE ASPECT OF SPECIFICS.

WHAT GOD CAN DO AND WHAT GOD WILL DO DIFFERS. THE ABILITY OF GOD IS SEPARATE FROM THE DELIVERY OF GOD.
GOD’S CAPACITY IS UNLIMITED WHILE GOD’S DELIVERY IS LIMITED TO YOUR REQUEST.

-Pastor David Oyedepo Jr at CHoP

Father, this morning, we have come before You to give glory and praise to Your holy name. You have done all things well, we have come to say thank You. For the testimonies of Your mighty hand: they are the answers to our prayers, we are grateful. This morning, our eyes are on You, we ask that You will speak to us; by Your Word, our lives will be changed. We give thanks and praise because we know it is done, in Jesus precious name.

Our line of exhortation for our Covenant Hour of Prayer all through this week has been:
ENGAGING THE WONDERS OF SPECIFIC DEMANDS ON OUR PRAYER ALTAR
Let’s begin this morning by reminding ourselves that the altar of prayer is ordained by God for definite deliveries – Matthew 7:7-8
The altar of prayer is ordained by God and it’s an altar for definite deliveries. That means that every ascension to the altar of prayer should always result in the release of definite results, definite answers, definite responses. In fact, God makes clear to us that what we do not have is because we do not ask – James 4:2
That means prayer can be said to be an open-ended platform for unlimited deliveries. It is an open-ended platform.
Mark 11:24 – “Whatsoever thing you desire.” Whatsoever means no limit, an open-ended platform for unlimited deliveries.
It’s an open cheque. Church Gist. Limitless access is available to us on the altar of prayer.

God guarantees that when we call, He will answer – Jeremiah 33:3
That means God is under covenant obligation to respond to us when we call on him.
Hebrews 6:16-18
By two immutable things: His Word and His covenant; it is impossible for God to lie – Hebrews 6:18
Every time we ascend the altar of prayer, we must have the understanding that it is a covenant platform created by God where He is bound by that covenant to respond.
Psalm 89:34
When we talk about the altar of prayer, we are talking about an altar of undisputable response. God is saying, “when you call, I am bound to answer.”
It is important that we recognize this because we must see the altar of prayer as a platform where we engage the faithfulness and the integrity of God to provoke responses
2 Timothy 2:13
We serve a faithful God, we serve a dependable God, we serve a reliable God. So every time we call on Him, we must have that understanding.

What that means is that when a prayer is unanswered, the issue is not with the prayer answering God but with the prayer offering man. Church Gist. Where a prayer is unanswered, the issue is never with the prayer answering God but with the prayer offering man. The side of God is settled before the prayer is offered. The issue is with the prayer offering man. The man praying is the one that is the questionable factor.
God’s side is guaranteed, it is the man’s side that is questionable. We discover that on the altar of prayer, there are a number of areas where man can malfunction but one of them is the aspect of specifics.

God is able to do exceeding, abundantly above all you can ask or think – Ephesians 3:20
But God will do what you specifically ask. Church Gist. What God can do and what God will do differs. The ability of God is separate from the delivery of God. God’s capacity is unlimited, God’s delivery is limited to your request. That is why you and I must understand that the outcome of our prayers is not dependent on the ability of God, but the specificity of our demand. It is determined by the specificity of our demand.

John 16:24
When Jesus said, “you have asked nothing in My name”; He was not just saying, “you have not asked anything; you have not asked anything specific.
Do you not know that in the time of Jesus, one of the habits of people was to cry out His name:
“Jesus, have mercy”; “Jesus, show mercy.”
That is a broad prayer without any specific request. That is why every time men cried, Jesus will always request for specifics.
Why is that so? God does not respond to your condition but your intercession. Church Gist. So it is not what is around you but what is requested of you. Because the condition of man does not necessarily define his request.
I remember somebody shared something sometimes ago, that they were at a crusade and it that crusade, all manner of miracles were happening: the crippled were rising. All kinds of things and there was this cripple man. Among others, while everybody was being prayed for, the man was looking at the man who was ministering and he prayed for him; he didn’t respond. Every other person stood up.
So he said, “Sir, what do you want?”
Cripple man response: Me! What I want is money.
His condition did not determine his expectation. He was there crippled but as far as he as he was concerned what he wanted was money.
That’s why Jesus never assumes the request of men.
Bartimaeus cried, “Jesus, have mercy,”
He said, “What kind of mercy do you want? What do you want? What exactly do you want?” – Mark 10:51

Two blind men came after Jesus and cried out to Him – Matthew 9:28-29
He said, “what do you want?”
That we may receive our sight. He touched them and they received their sight.
It is the specifics that God demands.

Israel was under bondage in Egypt, but look at what God said in Exodus chapter 3 verses 7 and 8.
This is God responding to Israel – Exodus 3:7-8
“And the Lord said…and have heard their cry”: From the first day they were under torment, God was aware
It was the cry of Israel that instigated the intervention of God. Church Gist. The condition was ongoing but what provoked intervention was their cry.

Our specific on the altar of prayer is the secret to provoking results. Let’s look at some examples quickly this morning from scriptures.

  1. The example of Elijah – 1 Kings 18:41-46
Elijah called down rain from Heaven. He said to Ahab, “go thou eat and drink for there is a sound of abundance of rain” – 1 Kings 18:41
I love this because he did not just say, “rain fall”; he described exactly the kind of rain that was to fall.
What was that kind of rain? Abundance of rain
The Bible tells us that Elijah went up to the mountain and began to pray – 1 Kings 18:42
He sent his servant, “go to the sea and look and come back”
The servant said, “I saw nothing.”
You know when rain wants to shower lightly, there may not be anything showing really in the sky, you may not see anything.
Elijah was not looking for light rain, but heavy rain. So he told him, “go and look, there must be something to show”– 1 Kings 18:43
He went forth 7 times, God knew that this man will not let Me alone until the sky is darkened.
He said, “now I see something rising, a cloud rising from the sea like the hand of a man.”
He said, “now, tell Ahab to run and get down to Jezreel that the rain stop thee not” – 1 Kings 18:44
That is, it is not the kind of rain that can be raining and you will be moving. This rain will stop you on the way. The Bible says, “when he said so, in the meantime, the heavens became black with clouds” – 1 Kings 18:45
He knew exactly what he was asking God for. Church Gist. It is amazing that people pray without defining their expectation. They don’t even know what they are asking God for.
How can you know the answer if you don’t recognize the question you are asking? Let’s understand that specifics are vital.
  2. The example of Daniel
Daniel demanded that the secret of the king be made known.
“What exactly Lord did you show this king in the night?” with definition and the Lord responded to Daniel
    Daniel 2:16-19
What it means therefore is that if we are going to be effective, we must understand the necessity of engaging such specifics on the altar of prayer.

As it concerns the advancement of the Church of Christ, we must to continue to engage our city routing town with specific demands on the altar of prayer.
The God we serve is a God that can route a city in a moment.
One man, Philip went to Samaria and Samaria was routed in a moment unto the Lord– Acts 8:4-8
Paul went to the city and almost the whole city gathered to hear the Word of God – Acts 13:44
God is a city routing God, it takes nothing for Him to route Ota, route Lagos and we see the invasion of souls in the order never seen before. Church Gist. It takes nothing but we must be specific.
Deuteronomy 2:36 – There was not one city too hard or too strong for us, the Lord delivered all into our hands.
-In this Season as we pray, the Lord will deliver the City into our hands.

Prayers: Lord, I receive grace to pray effectively, no more wasted prayers. As I engage specifically, my answers shall come openly.
Pray that prayer from the depth of your heart.
Prayer is not a guesswork, it’s a definite work. As you engage it, it is demanded to produce results. My own prayers will produce results from today. The covenant side of God is unshifting, therefore Lord, I will take position with specifics on the altar of prayer in order to take deliveries of the answers in the name of Jesus Christ.
Pray passionately. Ask God for grace. Grace not to miss target on the altar of prayer. Thank You Father and thank You Lord. In Jesus precious name we have prayed.
You have asked God for grace, that grace shall be made available.
From today, your prayer will not miss target.
-Every time you call on God, there will be definite answers, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
-In the time left within this fast, every call you make to God will provoke instant response, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Give thanks to God for the blessing of the day, He has started this morning, blessing you. He has started this morning decorating you, He will surely complete what He has began.
Will you thank Him from the depth of your heart? Thank Him from the depth of your heart. Thank Him for bringing you into the 6th third day in the set of these 21 days.
He said, “on the third day, He will raise us up” – Hosea 6:2
There shall be lifting. Spiritual rising in every aspect of life, in the name of Jesus Christ. Thank You mighty God, in Jesus precious name we have prayed.
It is done, in Jesus precious name.
