We are in the month of wisdom for possibilities is that true, today we will be looking at “WISDOM FOR DISTINCTION”
What is wisdom?
Wisdom is the ability to use your knowledge and experience to make good decisions and discern differences in people, moments and environments. It is the God given ability to make good judgement per time. Wisdom is knowing the right thing to do and doing it. Matthew 7:24.
What is Distinction?
Distinction is an act of excellence that sets someone or something apart from others. It is a state of being excellence or superior.
So, wisdom for excellence, putting all together is the ability to use your knowledge and experience to make good decisions in life, business and other fields of endeavour in order to become outstanding. If you can’t get the definition, get the message. ChurchGist. Wisdom is simply hearing God’s Word and doing it, that is whatever I preach now, if you do it, then that is wisdom. Wisdom is not copying notes, wisdom is anything you hear, do it. That’s the summary of all the English we have spoken here. The man snapping me too, you need wisdom to copy note and stop snapping because all the things you’re snapping I don’t understand, leave your camera and don’t snap me, I don’t mean the man filming, I mean the man taking photograph, he needs wisdom to listen to what I am saying, so that he can be distinguished, sometimes you carry camera and you forget yourself.
Wisdom is what makes the difference in every facet of life, your ability to recognize difference is what distinguishes you. Distinction makes one seem to be superior or worthy of special recognition. That is why even in school they will say this guy made a distinction that means he is above others. ChurchGist. Wisdom for distinction is when you’re above others, you’re saying this young man-made distinction that means he is at the top in the class. So, wisdom for distinction is those who by wisdom are at the top. How many want to be at the top? You will get there.
WHAT ARE THE FACTORS FOR DISTINCTION?
Wisdom factors for distinction.
1) CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION.
Creativity is the act of using your mind to develop new and original ideas. It is what makes you break away from average, tradition and status quo, in order to explore your mind to achieve outstanding results. ChurchGist. You don’t do things as everybody is doing it. You just break away from a traditional norm and hit it to the top. Is that clear? You will be baptized with that Spirit. Invention is a product of creativity; invention will lose its ability when creativity is dormant. Succeeding in succession is a function of creativity.
God is done with creation, there is nothing God will create again, he has created all things, He is waiting for men to use his creative ability to explore, there is nothing God will create again, it’s now left for you to use your creative ability. The Bible says we are co labourers with God. So, we are the ones to create and not God. Proverbs 25:2. Psalm 111:2. Creative people are never static; they constantly increase their capacity by developing their minds. Let me make it simple for you to understand, God created trees and man-made furniture and paper, God didn’t create the furniture. ChurchGist. God created crude oil, man-made oil products by creative ideas.
God created the animals and the fishes, man-made recipes, the aircraft and all other technology that we are using today are all man made, the list is endless, so add yours to it. ChurchGist. The world should remember you for one thing that you dropped here before you leave. So, add your own creative ability to it, it is endless, the list is endless. So, for you to exist on earth without something you added to creation is a waste, you’re a complete waste on earth.
For instance, in this part of the world they used to wear long dresses alone, the type I wore yesterday. You can’t wear that every time, it’s only for ceremonies, that was what they used to wear before at all times. Then some young people came and they began to make smart native dresses and now people wear them daily, before there was no smart dress for daily use. ChurchGist. There were no senatorial wears, you just wear the long dress, either you wear the jumper or you wear the one I wore yesterday. Now, just imagine yourself wearing that dress every day, are you a chief? Somebody became creative and they made it simple for you to wear on a day-to-day basis.
So, in every field you have to be dynamic. They used to use bells in Churches, after praying for a while they would carry the bell and to stop the prayers, they would have to ring the bell. So, it’s when you hear the bell that you stop praying. ChurchGist. Now, the Church runs into thousands, which bell will you ring for somebody in the overflow to hear, but do you know till today some people still put a bell on the altar. You don’t know there are some places you go to; you’ll still see bells. Creativity and innovation has made people know that you can’t ring a bell now, you’ll just say in Jesus’ name with the microphone. Is that true?

HOW TO DEVELOP YOUR MIND FOR CREATIVITY.
The seat for creativity is the mind. How do I develop my mind for creativity?
A) BY CONNECTING WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT.
The Holy Spirit is the custodian of creativity, God didn’t create anything without involving the Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:1-3. Until the Spirit of God was involved creativity did not come into display. ChurchGist. Psalm 104:30. If you want to be creative you have to involve the Holy Spirit, he will teach you what others don’t know. John 14:26. 1st Corinthians 2:10-12. “All things” is not only the Bible, he will teach you the things that you’re doing, many people think “all things” is just Genesis to Revelation, No! He will teach you even mathematics, he will teach you things that naturally you don’t know, he will teach you medicine, so you just involve Him.
So, there are things the lecturer will teach you and there are things the Holy Ghost will teach you, beyond what the lecturer taught you, from today He will begin to reveal deep things to you. For instance, Ben Carson and the separation of the Siamese twins you will find out that the Holy Ghost was involved, that was not normal, no school taught Ben Carson how to do that, it was the Holy Spirit that taught him to separate the twins that were joined together. ChurchGist. There are things school will not teach you, no school can teach you, the Holy Spirit goes beyond what school teaches, for you to be creative and innovative you must consult Him. School can’t teach you, school never taught me how to bring out pillars from sanctuary, school won’t teach you that; that was purely the Holy Spirit, no school would have taught us how to bring the cathedral pillar outside, it was beyond the structural engineer, it was beyond the architects, that was beyond school. I pray today He will open your eyes to creative things.
B) BY ENGAGING IN PERIODIC QUIET MEDITATION
Meditation is what birth manifestation. Genesis 24:63. Isacc went to meditate in the field in the evening. So, once in a while separate yourself to meditate. Psalm 16:7. Some of us never use our night season, separate yourself quietly and begin to meditate.
C) BY ASSOCIATING WITH CREATIVE MINDS.
Who you walk with matters a lot. Walking with creative people will challenge you to be creative. You can see my association with Bishop Oyedepo as challenging more than any other association. No mortal man on earth has blessed me as Bishop Oyedepo. Association here does not mean I have to see him every day, No! That is not the association we are talking about, association is by reading the person’s material, listening to his tape, it’s not that the person has to call you every day, that’s not association, I listen to him, I read his books more than anybody’s book on earth. ChurchGist. So, iron sharpeneth iron, there is no day wood will sharpen iron. If you want creativity, associate with creative people. Proverbs 27:17.
D) BY BEING CURIOUS.
Curiosity makes you ask questions. Proverbs 25:2. You want to know more, then be very curious. Isaac Newton found the Law of Gravity because he was curious, why did this apple fall? Everybody saw the apple, but he was curious and that was how he came out with the Law of Gravity.
E) BY CONSTANTLY GOING FOR KNOWLEDGE.
Knowledge gives you access to information and information awakens the creativity in you. Daniels 1:2. Lack of knowledge can destroy your creative ability. Hosea 4:6. So, if you want to be creative then go for knowledge. I pray today you will have the appetite to go for knowledge. ChurchGist. Many of us don’t like knowledge, you can’t be creative without reading and getting modern information in your field.
However, creativity will become dynamic when you’re innovative. If you’re creative and you’re not dynamic you will lose creativity. Nokia lost its market because they were creative but they were not dynamic. ChurchGist. Nokia phone were producing the best phone but they were not innovative, they were not dynamic they refused to accept change, even in the phase of change they refused to accept change, before now many of the young folks will not know, but old people will know when it comes to wrist watch, the country that controls wrist watch was Switzerland not America not Japan it was Switzerland.
Switzerland were the people controlling watches, they use to call it Swiss watch, if you ask any old man from 70 up, they will tell you the watch use to make some sound, even those in late 40s will meet those kind of watches, this one that you’re wearing watch and you won’t hear sound, every watch then use to make sound and an innovation came, they went for a world watch conference and some young scientist came, there is a watch (electronic watch) the Swiss watch makers said this is nonsense we will not sell, so they threw it away, they told them: this is a modern development, they said: No, we don’t accept this, we only accept that watch (Swiss watch) they refused to be dynamic, they went for a watch conference in United States in Texas and then some people saw it and that was the end of it. Today, it’s a long story. ChurchGist. Some of us are creative but we are not Innovative, we are not dynamic and we don’t accept change. No! No! This old fashion style, as it was in the beginning, so shall it be. The world is changing, you have to be dynamic. So, creativity must be coupled with innovation. You cannot be creative unless you’re innovative.
WHAT IS INNOVATION?
Anywhere you see creativity there must be innovation, they are brothers and sisters.
Innovation is the action or process of introducing new or making change in something that’s already existing. To become a more creative person, be innovative. ChurchGist. The most successful people are those who are looking for new and better ways to achieve better goals. For instance, I am not advertising apple products because I am not following them again. They made me angry the last time I went there. They said they cannot sell more than two apples, so I am not happy with them again, but I will talk about them. Apple for instance they keep changing, they keep improving, from apple 4 to apple 5 to apple 6 from there now to apple 13, they will soon come out with 14 and people keep buying. They will change lenses, the next one they will put two cameras, they will put three cameras, very soon they will put four cameras. People will go crazy and shout pro max and professional max, they will just give you one name and people will buy it, you will keep buying innovation.
That’s how people buy Honda too, Honda Accord, Honda Discovery, Honda Explorer, End of Discussion, Beginning of Discussion and you keep wondering, you want to keep buying. They just keep changing features, changing buttons and all. ChurchGist. Now we have electric cars and they are selling like wildfire. Innovation, the world is going up from gas to electricity. Don’t be static, don’t say we must use crude oil, the world has gone to electric cars. Very soon they will have a car that is automated with voices, when you tell it to move it will move. They already have the one that without human beings on the steering and it moves.
HOW TO BE INNOVATIVE.
Some of us are not Innovative, hope you know?
A) UPDATE YOURSELF WITH THE LATEST TREND.
In your field of endeavour what are people saying, what are they interested in? Those are questions, what are their complaints? These questions will make you think of better ways to get different results.
B) LEARN FROM THE BEST.
Find out how they are succeeding, what is making them stand out, anytime you want to learn something, never learn from an average person. ChurchGist. Humorously, sometime ago somebody wanted to teach me how to operate computer and we laughed in the house. I said if an amateur teaches you something you become a premature, I said if I want to learn computer, I would learn it from the best. We were joking we were making fun out of it. Learn from the best. If you want to go to a fashion school, go to a good fashion school, don’t go to where they cut cloth like a carpenter.
C) ENGAGE IN GENUINE EVALUATION OF YOUR PREVIOUS MISTAKE.
Learn from your mistakes and improve, there is always room for improvement when you’re always willing to learn from your mistakes. ChurchGist. You can never be innovative and make progress if you don’t make self-evaluation. When creativity meets innovation, productivity will be inevitable. So, learn to be creative and Innovative if you desire distinction. Evaluate yourself, last time I did this it did not work, so where did I make mistakes and then adjust. I see you make things happen. People don’t take self-evaluation. It’s in every field. I watched Chelsea and Real Madrid yesterday. Chelsea will go and do self-evaluation. How come we are champions and we could not defend well? That is the way to excel.
The second factor for distinction.
2) EXCELLENCE.
If you want wisdom for distinction, go for excellence. Daniel 6:3. Because of Daniel’s excellence spirit the King had to send for him, to enjoy distinction you just excel on whatever you do. ChurchGist. Excel in your work, excel even in your conversation and any assignment. The door to any lifting is conversation. You must excel in how to converse; some people don’t know how to converse.
Excellence requires investment of time, to enjoy distinction you must have a passion for excellence. Constant discipline in life distinguishes excellent people from mediocre. ChurchGist. Excellence requires quality, put your heart into whatever you’re doing, pay any price, make sacrifices until you become the best. I have an addiction to excellence.
To get into the palace is not by favour, it’s by excellence. Every man of excellence finds it easy to get to the palace. Proverbs 22:29. Seeth a man who excels in what he does, they will send for him in the palace. ChurchGist. Hello! If you want to go to the palace, excel in whatever you do. There are carpenters who the president of a Nation will send for, there are furniture makers that a president knows more than he knows other presidents, because they know the kind of furniture, they will do that the president will like. ChurchGist. Every president has a barber, not every barber and that barber touches the head of a President because that barber must be the best in knowing how to cut the hair of the president, is that true. He will take diligence in doing it, the way he will be combing it will be different from other people. Do you know that there are some people anytime they give you a haircut you will sleep? And there are some who cut your hair and you will be complaining about pains. That is what we mean by excellence. Excellence will never be rejected.
Listen to me, all fashion designers, if you sew something and they tell you I don’t like this thing, don’t laugh nor be angry, go back and ask yourself what you did wrong? If you do a job in the office and your boss is angry, because excellence attracts the excellent. ChurchGist. Mediocre never admires excellence.
You will never get angry with corrections if you’re passionate about excellence. If you’re angry with corrections then you’re not passionate about excellence. Because excellence increases at the speed of correction, please I don’t like the way you present this thing, you go back again. ChurchGist. It is easy to find a job but only excellence can keep your job. It is easy to find a job but only excellence can keep you in the office. Wherever excellence is not appreciated, mediocrity is on display. There are people who fight excellence, anyone who fights excellence then you love mediocrity. One of my staff said to me: Sir, this person has to go, I asked why? He said must we tolerate mediocrity in this place constantly. Let us put aside sentiment this person should go.
Anywhere you say they are treating you this way because you’re a woman you’re not excelling. Whether you’re a male or female, whether you’re white or black, it’s irrelevant, if you know how to sew a good dress, will they go and find out who sewed it, they will just buy it. If you know how to present a speech will they bother to know the colour of your skin? If you’re the best footballer, will they give you the medal?
There was a man called Jesse Owens, he was the first man to win four gold medals in Olympics in 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany, Adolf Hitler awarded him the 4 medals and he was a black man. Did Adolf Hitler say that because I hate black people, I will not give you the four gold medals? He excelled and he awarded him.
Pelle the popular old man who is in his 80s now, he was the first man to ever win 3 world cups, he is one of the greatest footballers to ever live on earth. ChurchGist. Colour is irrelevant when you excel. One of the greatest Neurosurgeons is Ben Carson, whether you’re white or black you will go to him when he is in active service. People who don’t like excellence they hide under mediocrity. Please, go for excellence, if you must be distinguished, if you must enjoy distinction love excellence, I hate mediocrity and today the Church is hiding under mediocrity

My friend he has not come, do the work, they gave you a work in the office do it well, if they tell you to sweep, sweep well, if they tell you to call, call well, if they tell you to sing, sing well, if you’re praying, pray well, that the Host of Heaven will pause to look at you and ask who is this person doing this. Anything you’re doing, autograph it with a touch of excellence. Don’t do things anyhow. No! Do you know that the same food you give to a pig can be given to human beings? The only difference is presentation. ChurchGist. One is dropped on the floor, the other is served on a plate, excellence makes the difference. How they present the food determines which one is going to the pig and which one is going to the human being.
The same thing a mediocre does, a man of excellence will do it and you will wonder whether it is the same thing. The same house someone will build and plaster it anyhow is the same house another will build and scrade it with the same cement. ChurchGist. The same cement, the same sand, the e everything but one is with a touch of excellence and one is just 2 X 4. Don’t ever get angry when you are corrected, rather improve. How many are getting blessed here?
3) BE AT THE PLACE OF YOUR ASSIGNMENT.
If you want to be distinguished, be at the place of your assignment. Now, we are talking about wisdom. Ecclesiaties 10:5-7. Wisdom is profitable to direct. So, when a man lacks direction, he will be working and working and nothing will show for it. Ecclesiastes 10:15. He’s labouring, he’s working so hard, he stays in the office morning down to the night. She opens her shop in the morning and closes it at the night. ChurchGist. She does not even come for mid-week service. So, that you’re labouring does not mean you’re getting results. People work so hard but have nothing to show for it because they lack wisdom and the Word says wisdom for direction.
It’s not the Hours you spend in the office that determines your results; I tell people to take an appraisal of what you did before you leave the office. I stayed for 8 hours a day. What did you achieve during the 8 hours? Do you know I resume 8 and I close by 9, what did you achieve closing by 9? 1st King 17:3-4,9. Your distinction is connected to a place. ChurchGist. Your assignment is to a place, every assignment God gives you is to a place, you will be distinct when you are in the center of where God assigns you. Elijah for instance was assigned to go to the brooks, that was where God assigned him to and Raven fed him at the brooks and later the brooks got dried and he assigned him again to the Widow of Zarephath. Listen, your assignment is very important because it’s the only place where God has guaranteed financial provision, money is at the place of your assignment.
Obedience to those instructions is what provokes abundance, everywhere there is obedience there is money, disobedience is the reason for poverty and losses. God’s provision is only guaranteed at the place of your assignment. ChurchGist. Money is geopolitical, it is in a place where God has assigned you. Elijah, go to the brook, that was his provision, the brook got dried, go to the Widow of Zarephath, provision came again. How many understand what I am saying? Money is always waiting for you in the place where God has assigned you to. John 22:4-6. Jesus told them to cast the net to the right side. Until you know where God is asking you to go per time frustration will not stop, many are frustrated because they are where God did not send them to. Hello! You want to be distinguished? Be where God wants you to be per time.
In addition to creativity and innovation, I added this because you can be creative and Innovative, if you’re in the wrong place forget it. Anywhere there is no provision God never sent you there. So, you must ask the Holy Spirit every time, where I am are you the one who sent me there? Even your business has a location, you can have branches everywhere. ChurchGist. Now, listen the branches are not the location of Salvation Ministries, the location of Salvation Ministries is Port Harcourt if God forbid that I didn’t come to Port Harcourt, no matter the number of branches I open they will die, because I am at the center of where God wants me to be the branches are flourishing. Do you understand it?
Even if you have a shop the main place must have a location, branches will offshoot from that location, but if you miss the first place assigned to you, every branch you open will de-branch. Are you getting it? There is always provision when you’re in the place of your assignment. ChurchGist. If you’re going through lack, check whether you’re where God sent you to be. Lack is an indication that you have missed it. So, you ask the Holy Spirit, where am I supposed to be? Just like Jesus gave them direction, he said to them cast your net to the right side. Now, the Holy Ghost will tell you where to go. In this dispensation you can’t ask Jesus anymore, that’s the Holy Spirit, I will send you a comforter, who shall represent me.
Yesterday I said it. Many of us still go to Jesus, if you pray that kind of prayer it is not correct. Jesus show me where I will go. No! The Holy Spirit will show you where to go and he is within you. You don’t have to go searching for him, just ask him: Holy Spirit which way, where do I go, where do I put my office, where do I site my business? There are people who site their business in the suburbs and it will still flourish, some in the center of the city and it will suffer. Don’t just go anywhere because everybody is going there, you go to where God has sent you. ChurchGist. I have taught so much on that, I talked about Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and Joseph I said each one has a specific instruction
Abraham to Egypt, Isaac to the Philistines, Jacob to Laban, Joseph to Egypt. ChurchGist. You don’t do something because somebody else is doing it.
Now, imagine me if I was to be in the United States of America, I would have been poor, some of you will say, well with this anointing, I will be broke, because that is not where God sent me, there are people who are flourishing in America because God sent them there. ChurchGist. Even for Churches too, you don’t have to attend every Church, there are churches that you attend and you know nothing is working, you’re just being sentimental. Some people will know definitely that the place they are is a wrong place, but they will say we speak the same language.
Just imagine I remained where I became born again without leaving for Papa Oyedepo, you should know what will happen? All I will be saying is lose your hold, lose your hold and no hold will leave. He moves me to move Oyedepo and I flourish because he spoke to me specifically, I never knew Oyedepo in my life, never in my life. I laid down, I still remember the house where I slept and He said I will send you to a Bible School, I said where and audibly he called the man’s name. First time in my life, I have never been to Iyana Ipaja, I stayed in Lagos for years, that was the first time I went to Iyana Ipaja and when I got there, I saw him, I said this is my pastor, I didn’t need anybody to tell me. When he climbed the altar, I will never forget in 1995. ChurchGist. He just climbed, he said praise the Lord, he put his hand in his pocket, he said listen to me, I can never be poor. I said wow! This is my pastor, the Holy Ghost in me just bears witness with my spirit. Everybody has a pastor, even a pastor has a pastor, if you don’t have a pastor there will be no pasture because he makes us to lie down in green pastures, to be without a shepherd is dangerous, a sheep without a shepherd is a goat and they don’t shepherd a goat, because a goat has no direction.
Even in the village if a goat is moving, he moves anyhow. Sheep move in groups.
Glory to God!
Are you blessed? If you want to enjoy distinction always allow the Holy Ghost to guide you, allow the Holy Spirit to guide and direct you per time. ChurchGist. He may have given you a different instruction last year, He may give you another one this year. He told Elijah to go to the brooks, later he told him to go to the Widow of Zarephath. Isaiah 48:17.
All I have said in summary is that wisdom for distinction is that:
1) You must be creative and innovative.
2) You must walk in excellence. Avoid mediocrity. Stop hiding under the Church, stop saying the man is victimizing because I am a child of God, it is a lie. Excellence will make you; no unbeliever can victimize you. Why did Pharaoh love Joseph? Excellence. ChurchGist. But today we hide. The man hates me because I pray. Were you instructed to pray in the office, they never employed you to pray in the office, you’re employed to work.
He’s sacking me because every time I pray, he is affected. They didn’t employ you to pray, they employed you to work. Don’t use religion to cover the truth. Pray your prayer in your house, it is not in his own office you will now be praying, I bind the demons, when he hears; he is a demon himself. Don’t deceive yourself, Pharaoh was a magician and Joseph was a child of God yet he recognized the Spirit of God. Daniel worked with magicians, all the people that Daniel worked with were not believers. Believers stop hiding under religion and mediocrity. ChurchGist. They give you a task, you can’t even do it. They give you a proposal you don’t know what to write, you’re giving a work, you will scatter everything. Excel in your assignment. No sinner will hate a child of God who excels.
3) You must be at the place of your assignment.
