I ASKED WHY LORD? THEN HE DELIVERED THE MANDATE…
‘NOW THE HOUR HAS COME TO LIBERATE THE WORLD FROM ALL OPPRESSIONS OF THE devil THROUGH THE PREACHING OF THE WORD OF FAITH AND I AM SENDING YOU TO UNDERTAKE THIS TASK.’
WE OWE GOD THANKS AS A COMMISSION BECAUSE HE DESERVES, DEMANDS AND EXPECTS IT.
A LIFE WITHOUT AN UNDERSTANDING OF THANKSGIVING LOSES COLOUR WITH TIME.
PEOPLE GO INTO CAPTIVITY FOR BEING THANKLESS.
WE DIDN’T HAVE TO SEND ONE MISSIONARY TO ENTER INTO 83 NEW NATIONS.
WE DIDN’T HAVE TO SEND A DIME FROM NIGERIA TO INVADE THOSE NATIONS.
THANKSGIVING CAUSES THE REDEEMED TO FLOURISH IN SEASON AND OUT OF SEASON.
EVERYTHING WORKING HERE, GOD DID. EVERY NEW CHAPTER, HE OPENED
VIRTUE HAS NEVER LEFT ME. THAT MEANS THERE IS NOTHING FROM ME THAT IS DOING THE THINGS HAPPENING HERE.
THANKSGIVING IS AN ADDICTION IN THIS COMMISSION.
GOD IS REAL. GOD IS NOT A MYTH.
GOD HAS BROUGHT ALL THAT HE SAID CONCERNING THIS COMMISSION TO PASS BY HIMSELF.
THE SAME GOD GUIDING THIS COMMISSION WILL GUIDE YOUR STEPS.

Thanksgiving is one of those hidden mysteries of the Kingdom. What we call mysteries are just access to the depth of His Word. He teaches all things including deep things of God. Church Gist. The Spirit searches all things (revelations) including deep things (mysteries). He’s loaded. Life without an understanding of thanksgiving loses colour with time.
- No one’s life here will lose colour!
He gave not God the glory and worms ate him up. ‘This great Kingdom which I have built by myself’ – he was turned to an animal. Church Gist. People go into captivity for being thankless.
- As the Lord lives, this Anniversary Week will mark a turning point in everyone’s life!
Thankfulness is the cure for emptiness. You can’t be thankful and be emptied. No! Church Gist. Thanksgiving multiplies God’s blessings, God’s favour, God’s provision, God’s everything.
- Endue me with the grace of endless thanksgiving as my new lifestyle – go ahead and lift up your 2 hands.

Jesus, thank you again. Now, speak to us for the few moments we have and let your name be glorified. Church Gist. Lord, let our thanksgiving in this season be acceptable to you both as a people and as individuals. Let it open new chapters to our lives in Jesus precious name! Amen.
We owe God thanks. God demands it, God deserves it and God expects it. We owe God thanks. Both for everything and in everything, we owe God thanks. Every prophetic agenda demands thanksgiving for delivery. Church Gist. 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Hebrews 10:36. Thankless people hardly see prophetic words come to pass. Until the will of God is accomplished, delivery is not in view.
It is also important to know that thanksgiving engenders access to divine presence which will always make the difference in anyone’s life, in any organization, in any Church. Church Gist. We come to His gates with thanksgiving, we enter into His courts with praise, we are thankful unto Him and blessing His name into His presence. Psalm 100:4. What He does is to show us the path of life. Psalm 16:11.
- May we receive fresh grace for a life of thanksgiving!
Thanksgivers never get stranded. He always shows up. As they began to sing and to praise, He showed up. Church Gist. 2 Chronicles 20:22. His mercy endureth forever (thanksgiving), He showed up. You don’t lack encounters with a life of thanksgiving.
It’s important to know that we are not where we are by strength, we are not where we are today by might, we are all that we are as a Commission by grace (all of it). The labour started about this time and through all the night. I heard people crying and groaning and wailing (I have never heard such cries in my life). I saw them pass before me, tattered, beaten, broken, deformed ‘Ekun oro’ (Cries of anguish) – wailing. I couldn’t help, I began to sob and cry and weep. Church Gist. The Lord said, ‘but from the beginning, it was not so.’ But why? But why all these? “And now the hour has come to liberate the World from all oppressions of the devil through the preaching of the Word of faith. I’m sending you forth to undertake this task.” I am the least qualified for that. I remember I wept on the commissioning day. ‘What will I be preaching that will make meaning for a whole year? God, what have you brought me into?’ I couldn’t imagine what to teach, what to be saying that will still be meaningful in a year. But see what the Lord has done today.
Until He humbles us, He will not exalt us. You can’t remold clay until it’s broken. Then He came by and said to me, “I have not chosen you because you are better than anybody else nor smarter than anyone else. I have only given you a privilege and should you abuse it, there are better hundreds at the door.” These were not hidden statements, they were declared openly in the Power House (2 of us are here today). Church Gist. God said it to me, “there are better hundreds at the door.” So, don’t mind the way I do what I do. There are better hundreds than me at the door. I have to seize that opportunity to make the most of it.
We are where we are today flowing in fortune – I brought not a dime to ministry. Luke 10:4. A concerned elder brother in the Faith said to me, “Brother David, how much savings have you brought?” I said, ‘none. Even if I have any, I will finish it before I go.’ Church Gist. He said, ‘carry no purse nor scrip.’ Absolute childlike faith which moves the hand of God because what faith does is to move the hand of God into action. Isaiah 53:1. Absolute faith!
There was no World bank, there was no financial bank, there was no human backing and yet He began to do what He wanted to do. We owe God thanks. When I hear testimonies, I wonder, what did they hear (then)? Church Gist. And I still cry today when I hear testimonies of what Jesus did behind me without my knowledge. We owe God thanks as a Commission. Everything A to Z is Jesus at work.
I said to Him, “Jesus, you called me to go into full time ministry – who pays me?” And humorously He came by, He said from Luke 10:1…He said, “you are in my employment. I am responsible. Church Gist. Just stay on duty.” ‘O tan’ (that’s all). He has been paying without failure every time because He said so. 1 Corinthians 15:10. We owe God thanks. This was a platform without form or shape. It was void and God came in; He began to speak value, began to add colour and here we are today by His grace. We owe God thanks.
For His wondrous works in our midst, we owe Him thanks. Testimonies have never ceased, we owe Him thanks. For diverse change of stories both as a Church and individuals, we owe Him thanks. We once had the privilege of having the largest grass Cathedral in the World, we were excited about it. Church Gist. Jesus did it, He built it in one week, we owe Him thanks. And now they say, we have some large Sanctuary in the World. We owe Him thanks.
Everything began from zero. Whatever value you see today is added by Him. We owe Him thanks. Church Gist. Diverse change of stories…we heard one now from Zambia. You think I know the person? No! You ever had a call from him? No! He is the One that called that went to do it. He is around the World, we owe Him thanks.
We owe God thanks for His faithfulness to His Word. There is nothing He has said that has failed. “This is the place” was the Word concerning Canaanland. Is it not the place today? In the natural, it should be the end of the ministry but it became the beginning of a new chapter. We owe Him thanks. He will build Faith Tabernacle in one year. How? He knows and He did. We owe Him thanks. Church Gist. Everything is like a dream, coming in phase by phase. We have never lacked the rain of the Word in all our services. We owe Him thanks. Testimonies everywhere in all of our Churches around the world. We owe Him thanks. The same God of this Commission that is moving through every vessel wherever we are found. We owe Him thanks.
For the continuous growth and expansion. Waves of expansion beyond imagination. Something humourous happened. We were going to go into 75 new nations. Okay, so let’s bring in some people. Proven hands we said, from around the world and get them inducted then send them out. The first night we came and I was going to speak and the Lord said, ‘These are not the people I am going to use.’ They have come with their family. Some nursing mothers. So after the meeting, I called them and said “God just spoke to me that you are not the people He wants to use. So you will go back.” Church Gist. Induction ended by the first session. We didn’t have to send one missionary to 83 nations. They were just there. We didn’t have to send a dime from Nigeria to invade those nations. Even last week a new Church was still planted all by the hand of God. We owe Him thanks. We owe God thanks, it is a debt we must pay.
What Is In Thanksgiving?
I believe that will drive us to keep engaging without getting weary.
- Thanksgiving Causes The Redeemed To Flourish In Season And Out Of Season.
Psalm 92:1-2, 13. It stems out of verses 1 and 2, the results began to show from verse 10 all the way down to verse 15. Church Gist. If there is any time to engage with that, it is now. Even as times are getting harder by the day, it is now. The gateway to flourishing in season and out of season is now. What is in thanksgiving? - Thanks givers don’t lack fresh oil
Psalm 92:10. People pray themselves to finishing. The oil gets drier by the day. Thanksgivers don’t lack fresh oil. Prayers, Yes but for the oil to keep flowing, one has to remain thankful. Church Gist. Fresh oil demands thanksgiving for a flow. Thanksgivers don’t run oil dry, they enjoy fresh oil on an auto frequency. They are not looking for it, it is flowing through them.
I was in a meeting and they had changed the theme of that conference and I sat down with the host. I said what I saw in front is not what you sent to me. He said yes, they had changed it. So what happens? He said I should speak to that. Thank you Jesus, I didn’t tempt myself. I prepared myself before coming but what they put on screen is far away from what they sent to me. Church Gist. Sir, fire fell. If I were just angry, the oil would dry. I will be talking nonsense. Be thankful. Psalm 92:10. That is no opposition can stand in the way. Thanksgivers enjoy fresh oil that silences oppositions. So it is not a thing to do for the sake of doing something, knowing what is in it will help us to engage genuinely, intentionally and consistently.
- We keep scaling new heights with thanksgiving.
You grow up like the cedars in Lebanon. Habakkuk 3:17-19. Church Gist. The redeemed keep scaling new heights with thanksgiving. Commit to it and start now. - Thanksgiving is a covenant requirement for answered prayers.
Philippians 4:6. Three covenant digits to access the throne of grace on the phone – prayers, supplication and thanksgiving. If you don’t dial the complete digits, it won’t answer. Every prayer that must fly must be accompanied with thanksgiving. Be pouring your soul and your complain, you won’t get anything. Be anxious for nothing and what you get back, the peace of God that passes all knowledge will keep your mind and your soul in Christ Jesus. Church Gist. You can pray to a point where you know your prayer is answered. Thanksgiving is it. In everything, it doesn’t seem to be working. For it to work, give thanks. That means things that are working, if you want to keep them working give thanks. Ephesians 5:20. If You don’t give thanks, they will stop working. They are not working and you give thanks, they start working. Thanksgiving is a must to keep going. Watch what will happen at the end of this thanksgiving session, another level. For the Commission, another level. For us as individuals, another level.
So be intense in your thanksgiving. It adds unbelievable value to you and to me. You remember Christ never prayed over the five loaves of bread and two fishes. He lifted them up and gave thanks and the bread and the fish flourished. It multiplied supernaturally. John 6:11. “Father, I thank you.” We are in the days of emptiness in the world, we need thanksgiving to enjoy the flourishing agenda of heaven at this time. We need to be thankful. For those who have been here over the years, you know thanksgiving is an addiction here. Church Gist. You won’t find any prayer here without Thank You Jesus. Thank you Lord. Thank you Jesus. Every prayer point, let’s give Him thanks at the end. “Give Him thanks intentionally, Give Him thanks genuinely. He has heard us.” It is the way to go. This is what I believe. You will not know any more dry seasons in your life. You are in a Commission that does not know dry seasons, you can’t be on board a plane and be denied what is served there. When men say there is a casting down, you will be among the people saying there is a lifting up. That is what has kept God’s grace working here and we keep doing it so as to keep it working.

A number of people say that so much virtue is gone out of them as they minister to the needs of people or lay hands of the sick. I have never seen anything gone out of me. That means there is nothing from me that is doing it. Can you imagine this microphone saying that virtue is gone out of it? Church Gist. As long as there is power, it is working. Everything working here, God did. Every new chapter, He opened. He came down, opened it and when He opens no man can shut.
This God is real. This God is real. He is not a myth. He is not an ideology. This God is real. He said to me, “Stand up” and I did. He said “Follow me” and I did. “Turn back now” and I turned back. This God is real. Church Gist. I said “Holy Ghost, I don’t want to ask anyone in this town where these people are. Lead me by yourself.” “Go forward.” This God is real and He speaks. Look at all that He said, how He has brought them to pass by Himself and how He is still bringing them to pass by Himself. This God is real. This God is real.
We had a drama one day, the Bible School was going to resume on the 1st of September 1986, a week to the time we had not found a facility where the students will resume. My wife out of concern asked where the students will resume. I said the owner of the school should know where they will resume. The owner showed up. “That is where the Bible School will be.” E mi o r’owo e o (I didn’t see his hand). It was like he pointed to it. Church Gist. I didn’t know the name of the street but I knew there was a Church opposite it. I got to the office and I called one of them, there is a building opposite HEKAN Church, what is that road? He said Kastina Road. That building that is where the Bible School will be. He got there that morning and he met the man in front. Sir, are you the owner of this building? He said No! Jesus is the owner, I am the caretaker. Church Gist. We need it for Bible School. Bible School? Then it is free. We have not followed cunningly devised fables when we make known unto you the Word of God. This God is real. We had two floors of that building for free. For free! The owner registered as a pioneer student of the Bible School. He met him right in front early in the morning. You don’t go to the front of your house to look for a tenant. No! This God is real.
- From this time on, the same God guiding this Commission will guide your steps.
- You won’t run off where your blessings are.
- You won’t go off your business because of temporary challenges and run yourself dry.
He said I am committed to leading you if you are committed to following me. His leadership has brought us here. I pray today that each one of us will be continually guided. Isaiah 58:11. You will not know any dry seasons anymore. For all that God has been to us as a Commission, we are going to dance. We owe Him thanks and we owe Him a dance.
There is no one like our God. He is the Alpha and Omega of this Commission. He is the one at work in the midst of His people. He has given us a name. A name that we never earned. He has given us a place and created a space for us. He is all in all. There is nothing about this Commission without Him.
