IF YOUR WALK WITH GOD IS DETERMINED BY HOW MUCH OF THE THINGS OF THE WORLD YOU CAN LAY HOLD UPON, YOU HAVE MISSED IT.
THE WAY PEOPLE RUN AFTER THE THINGS OF THE WORLD IS WRECKING TOO MANY PEOPLE
I WAS SO SATISFIED WITH JESUS WHEN I HAD NO BANK ACCOUNT. SO SATISFIED WHEN RAIN WAS BEATING ME ON A BORROWED BIKE TO GO FOR JESUS, I GOT THERE AND HAD TO BORROW CLOTHES BECAUSE I WAS DRENCHED. I WAS SO SATISFIED.
THERE IS NO ONE UNDER HEAVEN WHO IS TRULY SATISFIED WITH JESUS WHO WILL NOT BE FULFILLED IN LIFE. WHEN JESUS BECOMES YOUR FINAL BUS STOP YOUR DESTINY BECOMES SECURE.
GOD WANTS TO PROSPER US ON HIS OWN TERMS AND AT HIS OWN TIME. HE LIFTS US LITTLE BY LITTLE SO IT DOES NOT DESTROY US.

There is no one under heaven who is truly satisfied with Jesus who will not be fulfilled in life. When Jesus becomes your final bus stop your destiny becomes secure. When He becomes your all in all, your destiny is secured. One of those women in those early days of our Church after eight miscarriages said “finally I settled with Jesus’ and Jesus settled her. I know one of their sons but they are two of them that graduated from Covenant University. After eight miscarriages, she was a matron in the hospital. Jesus settled them when they settled with Jesus. He settles people when they settle with Him. The day I will look for another support for Jesus will not meet me in this world. I have made up my mind. Whatever He cannot do, let it remain undone. Whatever He cannot give, may I never have it. I am going nowhere. Where He can’t take me, no authority should take me there. It is not safe for me, that is the meaning. Everyone that is truly satisfied will end up an envy of his world. Church Gist. Where settling with Jesus is no longer a challenge for you, you have just settled, you are not looking elsewhere. You have no alternative, no plan B. Settle with Jesus! Settle with Jesus!! Settle with Jesus!! Grace to be settled with Jesus, may it become each one’s portion. It is one thing to be settled with Jesus and it is another thing to settle with Him for a while and switch over. It is as if you never settled before, He forgets your former settlement and He begins to relate with you in your new unsettlement realm. When you settle with Him, everything goes well. I was chatting with some of our coworkers today and I said I am not any more prosperous today than I was in the beginning. You may not think so, that is your problem. I am not any more satisfied today and God knows and I know. No one knows me more than I know me. When you are truly settled with Jesus, He settles you. If God cannot help you, where will I help you from? The surest help, the longest lasting help comes from above. In the name of Jesus, no derailment for any one of us.
Lord Jesus, we are here again today at your feet. Feed us with your Word. Put the key of godliness into our hands, help us to preserve and keep this key for life. Let none of us miss heaven, get us there by your hand. Help our journey down there in Jesus’ name.
PUTTING UP A FIGHT AGAINST THE FORCES OF UNGODLINESS. I said yesterday that the homecoming, our homecoming into heaven, is the homecoming of overcomers, people who have overcome the barriers to heaven in their lives. Revelation 2:7,11,17,36. Heaven is the homecoming of overcomers and overcomers are fighters. Only fighters become overcomers. It is a bloody fight. Hebrews 12:4. We had a song years ago, “there is a race to be run and a fight to be fought. There are dangers on the way’. Church Gist. So it is not a playfield, it is a way front. 1 Timothy 6:11-12. We are called to engage in a fight to secure eternal life. Many believers will do anything for money. They will check through any corner of the village for money. So when they want to pray the prayer is dry, there is no connectivity. It is abnormal to be talking when there is no connectivity on your phone. So prayers will die where sin becomes a lifestyle. Only true fighters will make it, not speakers, not celebrated men and women, applaud rousing speakers.
Paul began to say “the good I want to do, I find myself not doing it. The evil I don’t want to do, I find myself doing it. Oh wretched man that I am who will save me from this flesh”. So there are forces behind the scene compelling believers to do what they don’t want to do and without an appropriate diagnosis. Church Gist. Treatment becomes trial-by-error stuff. What are these forces? We started looking at them yesterday. Today we look at two more evil spirits that are working against our pleasing God. In the name of Jesus Christ, the hold of these spirits shall be broken from off every life.
- The spirit of the world.
1 Corinthians 2:12. There is the spirit of this world that makes believers to be worldly-minded, everything about this world suits them. They are in a rat race with the world around them. 1 John 2:15. This spirit compels people to love the world. If you love the world, the love of the Father is not in you and that makes his or her Christianity a futile adventure because everything in the kingdom works by love. Faith works by love, giving works by love, prayer works by love. Everything in the kingdom requires love. Whatever works by faith requires love because faith works by love. A man cannot receive anything outside of faith. When the spirit of the world takes over a man, it makes his Christianity barren, unfruitful, full of frustrations. You can’t love the world and love God at the same time. I stand against the spirit of the world that is holding bound innocent but ignorant believers, be loose in the name of Jesus.
Darkness and light cannot occupy the same space. You can’t truly love the world and truly love God. Do you know why many people turn back from the faith? “I thought things would work for me but it is not working for me”. What is not working for you? Are you saved? He said yes. Is heaven not working for you? No, that is not what I am talking about, I am talking about all my friends who have built estates. Go and collect it from them. So satisfied, so satisfied since I met Jesus. I was so prosperous when I had no bank account. So satisfied, so satisfied, when rain was beating me on a borrowed bike to go for Jesus. So satisfied. I had to borrow an agbada from someone there to put on my shirt because rain had drenched me inside, water was flowing as I went about. So satisfied. The way people run after the things of the world is wrecking too many people. Enough! Philippians 3:17-19. When I say I have never prayed for money, you grumble and say I won’t tell you the truth. Church Gist. Ask God if you know how to meet Him. Those who mind earthly things their end is destruction. Run away from it. If your walk with God is determined by how much of the things of the world you can lay hold upon, you have missed it. You won’t last there that is the meaning. Many believers today are in a rat race with the world, they want earthly things by all means and in most cases, worldly means. “I must make it” what are you making? It is God that makes great. There are people with plenty of money without a name, on the street where they live, they have no name there. In their village, they have no name there and they can’t even give expression to the money they have because it is stolen. Caution! You can’t carry the world into heaven. Caution! You have been here for a long time and you have never heard them raise a prayer point here “oh God open your heaven, if you don’t open it, we won’t come next Sunday”. Just do what opens the heaven, it will open. There is no point in struggling.
If you repent indeed, He saves you. Not come back tomorrow. When it comes from God it is secure. When it comes from God, it cannot be overturned. When it comes from God, it is enduring, it is life lasting. Whatever the Lord doeth shall be forever. This rat race must stop, God wants to prosper us on His own terms, at His own time. He gives them little by little so it will not destroy them. Church Gist. As good as food is if you take more than your mouth can handle you will choke. Good food has taken good life because of oversize. I told God a long time ago whatever you give me that will make me miss you, don’t let my hand touch it. Do you have value for heaven? People are running around the entire world most times they return empty. When God blesses, it is always irreversible. That is the kind you will get from henceforth.
People lie so easily and they are Christians, you just wonder what is going on. Beware of covetousness. Luke 12:15-21. Just show me a genuine kingdom promoter, he can’t miss promotion once. God will just be lifting Him from one place to another. Giant kingdom promoters are the ones that become kingdom giants. So all these cravings for money, you can’t give one dime to a dying person because it is in their blood. No one here shall be a victim of this inordinate craving for illegitimate wealth. Church Gist. If they keep money with you it is not safe, you will lie, lie, lie to confuse the person. Proverbs 28:30. Jeremiah 17:11. God forbid! Be satisfied with your present level with Jesus. When you are due for the next, he will take you there. Money gotten by tricks makes men mourn. 1 Timothy 6:10-11. You shall not suffer sorrow in your life. By His grace, I am as at rest today as I was then. If you say it is not true, good luck.
- The spirit behind the lust of the eyes which means covetousness.
Joshua 7:19-21. That was what ended his life, terminated his lineage. Many years ago somebody saw my tie, many years ago in Kaduna. He said this is silk. I said what is the meaning? I don’t know. What is the meaning of silk? I said tie. You know the rich fool, He said today your soul shall be taken from you. You know covetousness as simple as it is, it kills people. Church Gist. You come to church and see someone with a gold chain and after service, you follow him to his car. The man that has gold should have something for me, if he can’t give me directly I will cheat him. You know the story of Achan, nobody will end like that. 1 John 2:15-16.
Biblical steps towards living a sanctified life.
Those things are spirits and have to be dealt with spiritually. They are not your weakness, there are forces that weaken you not to let go. You went to someone’s house and you saw something, “I must get this thing“. If you are a woman you tell your husband, that flower vase that I saw we need it here and I have asked the woman where she got it from and she has told me. If you don’t get it, you won’t sleep in this house”. You are in a car and you see a car passing and you turn to look, may you not be the one driving. They are things to cast out, they are not things to pet. In the name of Jesus lose your grip off me. In the name of Jesus, I cast you out of my life and affairs. If it is not your turn to own a car and you struggle to get one, you will be struggling to run it. You are now under so much pressure, ordinary flat tire, you will be struggling to look for money. Years ago, a friend of mine had a plane and called me one day that he will need some 8,000 dollars. Church Gist. I said you better sell it. 8,000 dollars? They don’t use that to run a plane. You better sell it and testify after that you got a good sale for it. When it is not your turn, it is not your turn, there is no point struggling. We could never rent a house of 45,000 per annum in Ikeja here. 45,000 where will I get it from? I said is it for sale? Is that part of the sale because I mustn’t be found in that kind of area. I know my size and I stay in my size. You know when you wear an oversize shoe you can’t walk well no matter how many things you put in front. If you are a woman, there is no space to put in front. May they never ask you to run. You will lose your shoe on the spot. By the time you stop to pick your shoe, the race is over. Spirit of lust of the ears get out of my life. Spirit of covetousness lose your grip over my life in the name of Jesus.
- Abstain from evil.
Depart from evil not fast ye, not pray ye, depart ye from evil. Isaiah 52:11. 1 Thessalonians 5:22. Abstain not intercede. Daniel had to abstain from the king’s rich meat of defilement to secure his glorious destiny. Whatever that king’s meat was like, he knew from where he came from that it was not permitted for him to eat. Alcohol? No. Church Gist. Gin? No! They felt that is how to treat this new generation of leaders. He asked the chief eunuch to please help him, we don’t take this thing where I came from and that way he secured his enviable destiny. Abstain means abstain not hang on. - Make no provision to the flesh.
Amnon made provision to the flesh and perished. He made the provision to rape Tamar and he became a victim of it. Absalom rose up and killed him straight. 2 Samuel 13:1-4,28-29. We know in today’s world of technology, there are buttons that one press in some modern day equipment that will shut down the equipment instantly. Church Gist. They don’t press today, you just touch and the whole machine just goes off. It could be a whole refinery, all the machines just go off. There are things you allow that just shut you down and it is all over. 1 Corinthians 10:1-13. There is always a way out. The good news is, no one here shall end up a victim.
Very importantly, we must all rise up to take spiritual responsibility in dealing with all of these evil spirits.
Finally, repentance is the covenant pathway to have a new beginning towards living a sanctified life. It is an open ended platform for the restoration of the joy of our salvation. If we say we have not sinned when we have sinned, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:8-10. No matter the colour, sin is sin. May we enjoy this privilege of forgiveness as we subscribe to the demands of repentance. David repented of his grievous sins, adultery and murder and God wrote it off. I heard Kenneth Hagin say today, the reason we need mercy is that we mess up. The reason believers need mercy is that we will mess up. That mercy will only answer to repentance. In Jesus name, anything you don’t want must quench today. Your spiritual life will become a most exciting experience, no more hiccups. Church Gist. Note: there is a point of no return in our walk with God, may we never reach that point before we choose to repent. Esau, we are told sought it carefully with tears but there was no room for repentance. Hebrews 12:15-17. May no one here get to that point of no return. The man Judas repented but had crossed the red mark and he went straight to commit suicide. Matthew 27:3-5. The room for repentance was over. Revelation 2:22-23. The space elapsed because she wouldn’t repent. In the previous name of Jesus, no one here will reach that point of no return. So time is of essence.
Lift your right hand to heaven if you caught anything from the teaching tonight, give God thanks for it and receive grace to put that to work. Every one of us is ordained an overcomer. We are not to be overcome by evil but to overcome evil with good.
