Lift up your two hands everyone, give God thanks for the opportunity we have to be in his presence tonight. Thank him for yourself. Express your desire for an encounter with him tonight. Send me my word tonight Jesus. Let your word locate me tonight Jesus. Cleanse me by your blood tonight Jesus. Do what only you can do in my life Jesus.
In Jesus precious name we have prayed.
Lord Jesus we are here at your feet tonight and all eyes are upon you. Let no one return disappointed. Advance our cause tonight by your word. Move us forward in our walk with you in Jesus precious name.
Praise the Lord.
Give the Lord a big hand of praise and please you may be comfortably seated.
‘Putting Up A Fight Against The Forces Of Ungodliness’ has been our teaching series for our midweek services this month.
Why do we need that fight?
Godliness is God’s highway to our high level profiting and the devil remains a thief, he wants us robbed of the best of life and so we have to put up a fight to conquer him.
I Timothy 4:8
Church Gist. God is the one and only one that secures high profiting in the life to come.
It is one thing that must be for any one to secure a place in eternity that’s why we need to put up a fight and win the war so we can secure a place in eternity.
But there are forces at work behind the scene that are all out to cause a derailment from the path of godliness.
We have been examining that over time and today we look at 2 of them.
- The Spirit of Pride
This is one of the unclean spirits that destroys destinies. Pride goes before destruction…
Proverbs 16:8
Church Gist. It’s behind the fall, it’s behind the destruction. It is a silent destroyer it doesn’t look poisonous, it’s colourless…like an acid.
But shot equals death, it is as clean as pure water; but take a shot by mistake and that’s the end. Silent destroyer. You don’t hear the steps of a serpent on the rock, it glides. A serpent is moving in a thicket, you don’t see the leaves move …just glides.
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4
That man of sin will come and make people to keep exalting themselves so he can bring them down. Church Gist.Now let’s look at the man himself in Isaiah talking about the devil.
Isaiah 12-16
The subject of pride is an issue of the heart…verse 13…at this time he was the cherub that covereth, he was the one leading the host of singers in heaven. He was worshipping and worshipping and he was saying something in his heart. Verses 13-16
No matter at what level, pride will bring anybody down.
It is so deceitful, it looks like self esteem but it’s a killer disease.
Revelation 12:9
The way it works out. Verse 9. Church Gist. Anybody can be caught up if you are not sensitive. Anybody. Now let’s watch an episode here. In Matthew 16:16-19.
His head was swelling when Jesus was (commending him) verse 18-19…whatever you bind (including me-Jesus) his (Satan’s) head was boiling and then verse 19…Peter said hey, you know I’m the one that said you are the son of God. He (Peter) began to rebuke him (Jesus)
21-23 and Peter took him and began to rebuke him saying be it far from thee, Lord this shall not be unto thee. You see him calling him (Jesus) Lord. Verse 23…at that time satan had entered. Church Gist. We are in the great days of the Church. We are in the era of the rise of great giants. We are also in the era of casualties. There is no move of God without casualties.
May no one of us become casualty. Amen
Let me tell you how subtle this is.
Jeremiah 17:9 Church Gist.The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked who can know it?
But if you watch the man Nebuchadnezzar. He was the only one walking on top of his roof. You will think he was worshipping God. He was celebrating himself and he went off. Daniel 4:30-31.
Uzziah went to the mountain to worship and at that time he has become the King of Priests in his sight and leprosy destroyed him. 2 Chronicles 26:20-21
Pride is a silent destroyer. We are told 1 Peter 5:8. So you hear some names go up and then crash.
God resists the proud but Give Grace to the humble .
When pride sets in, Grace folds up and when grace folds up, Disgrace comes down.
The Psalmist cried Lord search me and know my heart.
Psalm 139:23-24
This whole thing begin with thought. Everything begins from thought.
We are the one holding this unit, the 3 of us. If the 3 of us travel in a week there will be no unit; will there be any unit? If we are not born again, will there be any unit? No it begins with a thought.
I am in charge..May every seed of secret pride in anyone’s life be flush out tonight. Amen.
No one is worth a thing outside the Grace of God.
Before you met Christ who kept you alive?
After you met him who has sustained you?
Beware. It looks ordinary but it is poisonous.
A man by name Herod or king made an oration and received an applause (gbam gbam) the voice of a God and not of a man. Acts 12:21-23An angel of the Lord came out and gave him a slap and worms ate him up because he gave not God the Glory.
When they give you an applause, transfer it straight endorse it to him because it belongs to him. Acts 12:21-23
Pride is a killer disease some have tasted it before and never again will they see it. Church Gist. God doesn’t lead you backward He leads you forward.
You won’t suffer backward trend again Amen. So it is not all satan I cast you out but a matter you must deal with consciously, deliberately at all times; not just saying the Glory goes to God let it emanate from the heart.
God told me at the onset of this ministry, I have not chosen you because you are better than anybody else or you are smarter than anybody else. I’ve only given you a privilege; if you abuse it, there are better hundreds at the door. The good thing for you is that there are better people than you in doing what you are being asked to do. You are the one blocking them from coming ins there are better people than you, better people than I undoing anything you are asked to do. Don’t look at yourself as indispensable, you are not. If it is possible to die temporarily and come back, you will know that you are not. To die small and come back and see how things are just running, better than when you were here. I curse the root of pride in the heart of anyone Today.
In James 1:21
One of the effects is it blocks access in receiving the word. “What am I looking for@? It’s all those people who have challenges that are there. Somebody said to me he has some testimony that can’t be shared now because of the dimension. Your testimony has no dimension. Which dimension? Did you steal it?
No testimony has dimension.
The first seed we received for the Ark by a member of the Church who is not in Lagos was a million dollars so what are you carrying that you are breathing so hard?
One million dollars. There is no offering raised o. He just said the Lord told him.
Pride is a killer sir. That’s why you see many people just disappear into the thin air. When God completed Faith Tabernacle I told our pastors, if anybody says ‘we built it’, God will kill him straight’. How did you build it?
What did you have?
How did you get the expertise?
How did you get the speed?
Every stage of it is God.
Start to see God in every area of your life.
Start to see God. That job you have is God. Start to see God. Don’t now pull your shoulder because you got a job or one funny appointment. The issue here is that it’s a spirit. Peter just announced Christ here as Lord and Saviour and the same day, he took him and began to rebuke him.
He took him and began to rebuke him. He just told him now whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, he said I bind you too. My God!
I’ve become very slow in commending people. Very very slow. People have been commended before and that was just the end of their life. Very slow.
Let God commend you. When God commends you, He changes your position.
When I commend you it’s an accolade. It’s just, ‘em, I mean it’s my impression, whether I’m right or not, I don’t know but when God commends you it manifests by changing your position. If your position is not changing God has not commended you and among the things will be pride, pride, inner pride, inside the heart, inside the heart.
One of us in this Church one time said that ‘‘em he built the Church when’s he was in a particular location. He built. It will never come out of my mouth till I die. That he built, he built, the end was very bitter. I built a Church, they didn’t give me anything, are you a contractor? Are you a contractor for God’s sake? You built? Ah!
So you can’t tell what’s inside people, inside them that is blocking their way. May everyone being held bound by the spirit of pride be released today.
Someone can be a part of that, what is it?, the Ark project now and he thinks that he is the master builder, emi okunrin meta. He will just be killing himself quietly without knowing, just drinking poison. Church Gist. It’s all a privilege, it’s all a privilege. I gave, from where? From what He gave you. I gave, how? From what He gave you. He said of thine have we given thee. He’s the owner. If He didn’t give you can you give anything? No. Everyone being held bound is set free tonight.
Beware, that poison sent Nebuchadnezzar into the forest for 7 years. Church Gist. It made worms to eat up Herod on his throne, it struck Uzziah with leprosy and he was moving from one leprosarium to another till the day of his death. But blessed are the meek, for they shall what? Inherit the earth. Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.
The 2nd spirit we are dealing with is the Spirit of bondage or addiction. The spirit of addiction; Romans 8:15 – God has not given us the spirit of fear, the spirit of bondage again to fear, bondage, bondage, addiction but of power and of love and of a sound mind. Church Gist. How did that come in? Romans 1:28 – Cos they did not receive, they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, so He gave them to a reprobate mind to do crazy things. Somebody has no job, where is he getting money to buy drugs? He’s borrowing. When will he pay? No idea. Can they ask him? No, he will break the owner with a bottle, broken bottle on his head even to ask him is a problem. To do silly things that don’t make sense.
I don’t know but I know that drug costs more than cigarettes. Cos they do business with it across the Atlantic. How did you get money? Silly things. You don’t have money to rent a house and you’re taking drugs, sleeping on the street, because they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, He gave them over to a reprobate mind to do crazy things, mad things, insane things. Wherever there’s no light darkness has a right to prevail. At the entrance of His word He gives light so there’s no light in them so darkness can overrun them. Church Gist. So when any silly thought is straying into our mind, we engage the word to dislodge it. Jesus was casting out evil spirits with His Word, evil spirits with His word, evil spirits with his word, Matthew 8:16 – evil spirits with His Word. You don’t allow a silly thought to have a landing place by engaging the word against it.
Now let’s look at some Biblical steps towards living a sanctified life before we go forth for the communion tonight.
By redemption we have the provision of the robe of righteousness in Christ. Isaiah 61:10 – I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He hath clothe me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. So we have, apart from the garment of salvation, we have the robe of righteousness, what do we do? Put on the robe of righteousness, it’s part of our redemptive package. Church Gist. It won’t come on us by itself, we have to take it and put it on just like the word says be clothe with humility, let it become a new lifestyle, 1st Peter 5:5, let it become a lifestyle. Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one unto another and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and govern grace to the humble. Be clothed, put on humility as a garment, put on the ornament of meekness. In 1st Peter 3:4, it said but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible even the ornament os a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. It’s highly valuable. Put on the ornament of meekness, it’s what defines each one’s enlargement on the earth. Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth, they shall inherit the earth. Church Gist. Moses was very meek above all people that were on the earth, I mean he was very great, very meek, very great, very meek, very great. So, the meeker, if that’s permitted, a man is, the larger his possession on the earth.
Numbers 12:3 – he was very meek above all the people that were on the face of the earth. Exodus 11:3 – he was very great before Pharaoh and all his people and Deuteronomy 34:10 – there was no prophet ever in Israel like unto Moses. Very great because he was very meek. It’s a thing to consciously put on to secure the fullness of God’s plan and purpose for our lives. Can I hear your loudest Amen. Can I hear your loudest Amen?
Let’s see Colossians 3:12 and 14 – put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long suffering . Put it on. Don’t wait for it, go grab it and put it on. Church Gist. These virtues are for my benefit, I need them and then verse 14 please – And above all these things put on charity which is the bond of perfectness.
There’re things to put on, there are things to put off, there are things to put on. Put on your garment of salvation, your robe of righteousness, be clothed with humility, take on the ornament of meekness and then you walk free.
2.Be committed to purging your conscience of evil works by the blood so you can destroy evil thoughts. And when the thoughts are destroyed, the works cannot exist. Church Gist. Every evil work emanates from the thoughts. Mark 7:21-23 – said for from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, which degenerates to the following evil acts which includes adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within and they eventually defile the man. So we engage the Blood. Hebrew 7:14 to purge our conscience of every evil thought which will disarm and destroy every evil act. That’s our responsibility. For they overcame him by the Blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony – Revelation 12:11.
3.Engage the name of Jesus to escape from being held bound. In the name of Jesus. So you have the Blood, you have the name, you can’t be held bound. At His name, every knee must bow, so whatever forces they may be, in my name you shall cast out devils, all devils, whatever name they are called. So build faith into that name and engage that name to enforce your freedom anytime you are besieged. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Well, repentance is covenant pathway to living a sanctified life. If we say we have no sin when we have sinned, then we deceive our selves, there’s no truth in us but if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to forgive us of all our trespasses. Church Gist. Repentance. There’s no sin God cannot forgive but there’s none He will forgive without our repentance. Repentance is a must for anyone who desires to be forgiven, repentance is a must . Repentance is a must, repentance is a must.
We must continue to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. Isaiah 66:1-2; Thus satin the LORD, The heaven is my throne and the earth is my footstool: is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?. For all those things hath mine hand made and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit and trembles at my word. Whatever I say matters to him, he’s not arguing against the truth, whatever the word says matters to him, he trembles at the word of God. Church Gist. He said unto that man I will look, I’ll take care of what concerns him, I will rescue him when he’s besieged for he trembles at my word. It’s not enough to say I repent, where is the fruit of our repentance? Luke 3:8 – bringing forth fruit worthy of repentance, the fruit that shows that we have repented for by their fruit we shall know them. Matthew 7:16-20, if you have repented it will show by the fruits you bear. In Philippians 2:12, work our your salvation with fear and trembling.
Once saved is not always saved. Salvation we don’t work out will loose it’s worth, when you stop God having His way, you have lost it, when the Word no longer makes any meaning to you, when warnings from Scripture don’t make any more meaning to you, you have lost it.
God was determined to destroy Nineveh but they repented and God reverted the judgment. Church Gist. There is no point where God cannot forgive if you are willing to repent. My prayer is that no one here will miss his place, we shall all make it through to heaven, we shall have the best of time o earth in the name of Jesus Christ.
Beware of pride, it destroys, beware of pride, it destroys, stay strong in fellowship, you will never be held bound by the enemy. He said exhorting yourself today lest any of you be hardened to the deceitfulness of sin. When the Word comes, something drops off you, every evil drops off your life. Therefore whatever won’t let you go, as you partake of this communion tonight, Jesus will flush it out of your life. In the precious name of Jesus, in the precious name of Jesus. Lift up your right hand to God everyone and thank God for this night. Thank God for His word. In Jesus precious name we have prayed, in Jesus precious name we have prayed. Can I say this before we pray; those who hate instructions don’t have a future in the faith. The Bible is a book of instructions, it’s a book of what to do, it’s not a book of do what you like, it’s a book of what to do, it’s a book of commandment, as we align with the commandments, we gain command over issue of concerns in our life. I see everyone here gaining fresh command over all issues of ungodliness.
As we subscribe to His commandments, we gain command over things that are rearing their ugly heads against our lives. Church Gist. You never lose command again! You never lose command again! You never lose command again! You never lose command again! You never lose command again! In the name of Jesus!
Jesus said “whosoever eats my bread and drinks my blood, has life in him”. Now we tap into Your life tonight, Your order of life as we partake of this communion table. Engrace each of us to live more like You in all areas of our lives in the name of Jesus! Now, by this communion, destroy the root of pride in anyone partaking of this communion tonight. When grace is withdrawn, disgrace is what comes. Let no one suffer any siege of disgrace among us anymore and I pray, anyone held by the spirit of bondage in any area of life that, that bondage be destroyed by the power of the blood tonight. Grant us that overcoming grace as we partake of this communion table in all area of our lives in the name of Jesus Christ. Church Gist. Everyone that came with anything that cannot be found in Christ; sickness, disease, pain, whatever, every failing organ represented here tonight as you partake of this communion because it cannot be found in Christ, it shall no longer be found in you!
Whatever evil followed anyone here, shall follow you no more! You are taking cover tonight under the blood and no evil shall strike at you anymore. So shall it be in the name of Jesus Christ. Church Gist. We receive this tonight as the flesh and the blood of Jesus. Receive by faith and be empowered to live like Him in the name of Jesus. So shall it be in Jesus name.
