HATRED IS THE FOUNDATION FOR ENVY AND JEALOUSY.

Blessed be your name Lord, Honour to your name, what a privilege and honour to be called your own. Thank you for your mercy. We are not where we are, doing what we are doing, it is your grace and mercy that has chosen us. Give the Lord the loudest praise.
We returned back from Zambia yesterday and I bring you greetings from Zambia. Everywhere we went, it was the same reception, the same excitement, the same power, the Vice President of Zambia welcomed us and she said I feel highly excited to see you in person, I have only watched you and now I am seeing you. The Mayor of the City of Lusaka was there and several High Ranking officials were there. Zambian Church is starting this morning, Germany Church is starting this morning, Holland Church is starting next month. ChurchGist. We should be in Houston, Texas in America in November for an outreach, the same week we might be in Colombia, South America.
Give the Lord praise!
All I can say to you is: don’t just watch, be a part of what is going on, be a part of it in prayers and for some of us that God will make solid enough financially, you can pay your way and go for some of the crusades and in addition to that, be a part of it through giving. We left Zambia yesterday after a morning session and we are here this Sunday morning, some people that was with us down to the airport told us that, it takes them 2 days to come to Nigeria, they will fly to Addis Ababa and sleep overnight and go to another place and stay for 5 hours and then before you can come to Nigeria, there is no direct flight, but we finished the crusade and we were on our way back, 5 hours flight, we could meet Church service this Sunday. This is why resources are needed for the Gospel, it is not for luxury or anything, it is just to ensure that so much is done in a short time.
In a time to come, many of us here will fly our own aircrafts to the crusades around the world and you’ll be able to have enough resources to do that.

1st Corinthians 13:4-8. God bless His Word in Jesus name. It’s our month of overflowing grace and glory through godly character. This morning we are going to look at; THE CHARACTER OF LOVE. ChurchGist.
Our objective this morning is to understand what love is all about, I believe that the greatest crisis in our world today is a crisis of lack of love, the bankruptcy of love, the shortage of love, love within the Nations, within homes, within marriages.
This world will literally be like Heaven on Earth if love flows as it should. This is important to know.
- The basic nature of God is love. God is love. 1st John 4:8.
- Jesus Christ is the expression of the love of the father. John 3:16.
- The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of love. 2nd Timothy 1:7.
- To walk in love is to fulfil the law. Romans 13:10. You don’t need to know; thou shall not steal, thou shall not kill, you don’t need to remember them if you remember love. ChurchGist. That guy who took somebody’s purse, containing important things and documents, that is a bankruptcy of any trace of love, because what is bothering that person beyond the little money inside the purse are those vital documents, if you know how it feels for somebody to lose those things you can’t take them. That is why I said the crisis in the world today is the crisis of lovelessness.
Love created the world because God created the world. If God is love then in the beginning Love created the Heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1-3. If God is love and God said, then Love said. If love created the world, then the world can only run on love.
The deficiency of love is the reason for the calamity on the earth, if Love created the earth, the earth can only run by love, love in the home, love in the Nation, love in the family, love in the organization.
WHAT IS LOVE ALL ABOUT?
- LOVE IS AN AFFECTIONATE AND COMPASSIONATE FEELING TOWARDS OTHERS.
In love there is affection and compassion. 1st Corinthians 13:4. People who walk in love, they have human feelings, people who lack love they lack feeling. ChurchGist. When you have leadership of a Nation that are zero in love, it doesn’t matter what happens to people, they can kill people to go to power, the same people they are going to rule and govern, they waste them, they shed their blood, send them to kill themselves and kill other people just to go into power.
At the leadership conference in Zambia, the Vice President of Zambia said Pastor you were talking to me, she said am I the only one this man is talking to, because we are the one who go about to give people money to vote for us, we the political class. ChurchGist. What is your feeling towards your wife, towards your husband, towards your children? What is your compassion towards your employees? Is a confirmation of the presence or the absence of love.
- LOVE IS THE HEARTFELT DISPLAY OF INTEREST IN THE WELFARE OF OTHERS.
You display interest in the welfare of others. How others are faring bothers you. It’s a heartfelt display in the interest/ affairs of others. Philippians 2:2-4. Joseph came into the prison and saw two other prisoners, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker, and he was also a prisoner, he had his own problems but he looked away from his own problem to the prisoner’s problem and he said; excuse me sir you people are not looking fine today, is there any problem, let me know, I know we are all prisoners but I’m concerned? ChurchGist. And they narrated their problems to him. Genesis 40:8. That was how Joseph assisted them and in the long run he assisted his own destiny, because the people whose dream he interpreted later on recommended him to Pharaoh.
The world has become so selfish, that a neighbour is dying beside another neighbour and they are not aware. I read a book sometime back where a lady in a neighbourhood was stabbed more than 30 times in the view of other neighbours. They stood and they watched, maybe they were afraid to come in or they were afraid of being killed, how many people died before their time because nobody cared. ChurchGist. People will sit beside each other in Church and you don’t care about the next person you’re sitting next to, in the course of the praise worship, all the celebration and dancing, yet the person is frowning, no questions at all. Are you okay? Is there something wrong? Is there a challenge in your life? People share offices and they don’t care what the lot of the other person is, this guy that used to dress to the office very sharp is now dressing very shabby and the hair is not kept. Have you asked a question? The calamity of our generation is that nobody cares.
I was around the other day and I was told that the security man is looking so distracted and I asked him what the issue is. The wife was pregnant and she just had a Caesarean section, so I asked him is there any issue? He said there is balance of #150,000 to pay for that operation, I said it is done, tomorrow you’ll get the money. ChurchGist. If we don’t ask, we will not know and then he will be there under pressure, his salary may not be able to handle that whole process but there should be somebody who cares enough to ask and to be able to handle the situation.
One man who is reckless decided to just abandon his wife and I don’t understand why a man would abandon his wife and his children as well. If you’re offended, did the children also offend you? Innocent children that wouldn’t have come into this world except that you brought them by your activities. ChurchGist. Your action brought them, I can’t understand.
I was talking to the woman the other day; the husband is in touch with money in millions and billions but he has not paid his children school fees for four years, I told one of the family we came in contact with, if your father said he won’t pay your school fees come we will help you, we started paying his school fees. ChurchGist. After we paid for a while, he said the man has returned back and he said he will start paying the school fees. I said OKAY, he can start and now the child called that the man said he won’t pay again. I said we will continue from where we stopped.
I don’t want us to preach a theoretical message, life is practical, let’s just practicalize these things, just be concerned, just be interested. A man’s wife was almost dead before he knew that the woman was sick, they were in the same house, the woman was almost dead before the man knew that his wife was sick. Because there was a Jezebel in one corner that took this man’s heart away. ChurchGist. No wonder the man told his wife after a long time; he said to the woman I don’t think we can live together anymore. All the property I have, anything you want you can have it, then you can go.
He has found his secretary that he wants to use to replace his wife, are you hearing what I’m saying? What is this? What has come on this man? The man kept on talking and the woman said ok, you know the way you carried me in your hand when you married me on our wedding day, carry me like that again like 30 days every day and then I’ll let you go. ChurchGist. The man thought to himself, to carry you every day and you’ll leave me, that’s okay and easy.
He carried the woman at once and she was completely weightless and as she carried her like that for almost 30 days, the union and the chemistry began to return and by the time the heart had fully returned back to his wife. ChurchGist. The wife said do you know why I said you should carry me every day? I want to forgive you before I die, I don’t want to die with bitterness, the doctor told me I have few days to live and this is my condition, she had a terminal disease and she was going to die but she wanted to bond with the man and have that closeness and forgives the man before she dies and they were in the same house and the man was not aware, that will never be your portion. You may be big, you may be small, whatever you are, please be interested, try to find out the condition of the person close to you.
There is a question my wife will never get tired of hearing from me, are you alright? How many times did I asked you such a question yesterday? Are you okay? Is everything okay? How many times have I asked you such a question? You can’t count, in the course of the flight; are you okay, is everything okay? Is there something I need to help you with? ChurchGist. It’s not pretense because if you’re drunk enough, you will manifest it, consciously, it is pretense if you’re doing it in front of people. If someone is smiling all the time and there are some non-smiling seasons, you want to find out if there is anything and if you’re not the cause of whatever that’s wrong.
Praise the Lord!
It will make life easy for us, it will dissolve tension around your life, it will dissolve tension around the people in your life, you will be a good company to hang around. ChurchGist. I told my wife; you don’t have to follow me everywhere, she said but I like your company. Even after service now, she will jump into my car and I tell her but your own car is waiting now, she will say let me just follow you and tell you my encounter from the service. What I experienced in the service, let me share it with you on the way driving.
If you’re a brutal and a heartless person, you don’t care about the people in your life, nobody wants your company. They’ll run away when they see you coming. I pray that I’m able to finish this message today, because when I was looking at the subject of character, it’s so much and I realize if we handle this one (Love), we have handled don’t steal.
- LOVE IS PUTTING YOURSELF IN THE SHOES OF OTHERS AND RELATING WITH THEM FROM THAT PERSPECTIVE.
If I was a leader, how would I want the follower to relate with me, if I was a follower, how would I want my leader to relate with me. If I was a husband, how would I want my wife to relate with me? Mark 12:30-31. Put yourself in others shoe. ChurchGist. Governors of states, President of Countries, Local Government Chairman, the people that you’re leading, if you’re the one being led what will you expect from your leader? Release it for them. ChurchGist. Husband, if you’re the one that has to attend to the kitchen, attend to the children, carry pregnancy for 9 months, how will you want your husband to treat you if you’re the wife? Husbands treat your wives with that mentality. Just picture yourself.
Both of us went to Church, both of us returned and we are at home now and I’m screaming, where is my food? Where is that? We went to Church together, maybe I cooked the food before we left for Church and all I need to do is to warm it when we are back but the husband is not patient, where is my food? Maybe while we are in Church, I should have been cooking the food in the Spirit. ChurchGist. If we put ourselves in the shoes of others, we will just calm down.
I tell our pastors, treat Church people gently and especially those who come to receive counselling, I said the reason why you’re not the one looking for counselling is God. There are people who don’t have a Church. As we are now, there are those playing football now, they don’t have any Church, there are people without pastor, but is it possible to say I’m a pastor without people. A pastor without people is just an imposter. ChurchGist. There can be people without Churches but there cannot be Churches without people. The reason why a Church exists is not the pastor, the Church exists because of the people. So, pastors just be careful and treat people with compassion and empathy.
You know how healing and deliverance service started, people were coming for different counselling, this one has this problem and this one had that problem and it became too much. So, we decided that everybody should come together at once in one service, that was how it started, so that we can minister to everybody at the same time, because the crowd coming for singular counselling was too much, we put ourselves in the shoes of others. ChurchGist. Husbands put yourselves in your wife’s shoes, you will respect her more, as for me I know I can’t carry pregnancy, you mean I should be patient for 9 months and to be moving slowly for nine months and another person is growing inside you and you’re just lying down there. I can’t do that. So, the ones who can do it deserve respect, the ones who can carry it deserve respect. Okay, if I say I’m powerful, let me carry the pregnancy.
Take time out and say; honey thank you so much for how you’re taking care of the children, you travelled all the way to their school, you went there and there, I just want to appreciate you. This is verbal, you can’t say, you can’t say I’m the one paying the school fees. Okay, you paid the school fees, go to the school let’s see, she said it is our children, they belong to us, I said yes, that is the more reason why I should thank you because both of us should be doing what you’re doing, both of us should be running around. ChurchGist. When it is time to fill the school form or anything relating to the school, they don’t come to my direction at all. At times I come home and she is on a long call about school issues, they know it is not my jurisdiction, if you want to entertain dogs do you give him kolanut. They know the attention they will get is not going to be much, if they’re talking to me, I’ll open the Bible or I’ll start something. Hallelujah!
So, you know what you can do and you know what the other person can do and then you put yourself in the shoes of others. I can tell you, if we are going to do that in the marriage context, in the leadership context, it is going to change things a lot. I see change coming for someone here in the name of Jesus Christ.
- LOVE IS SHIELDING OTHERS FROM EVERY FORM OF HARM, HURT, PAIN OR ANY OTHER FORM OF NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE.
When a man walks in love, you won’t be the source of somebody’s pain and hurt, you won’t be the reason for somebody’s negative experience. Romans 13:10. When you walk in love, you’re not the reason for somebody’s pain, like they say of some people, you can’t even hurt a fly, that is where practical love is. ChurchGist. Where love is absent, people are excited when others are in pain. They contribute to pain, harm and hurt; this is what makes criminals. People are crying and that’s okay for them.
This man and another man did a business, something went wrong and then he killed the other man, he sent assassins after him, he does not care, he does not know that this man’s wife that will mourn forever for her husband, this man has children, has a mother, has a father, has a brother, has relations, that this one action will affect so many people, he doesn’t care, because he is heartless and loveless. ChurchGist. There are criminals that are excited in the pains of people and it’s a demonic Spirit, the same with leadership in our land.
The land is perishing, people are dying, they don’t care. One officer told me that they arrested a kidnapper, one of the terrible notorious kidnappers and he was telling them stories, that actually the ransom they ask for, the ransom does not belong to them, that they pay them only 30,000 – 40,000 per person, they don’t get the ransom. ChurchGist. The ransom belongs to some other people. I’m sure you’re aware of some arrest that is going on right now. Some wicked and heartless and demonic people. People are dying and they are busy collecting money in millions, judgement has already started in our Nation and they will never escape it, no matter how high they are, they will never escape it.
There are some people, until their wives’ cries, they are not happy yet, they will keep quarrelling until the woman starts to cry, and the man will shout, stop crying crocodile tears. It’s their joy, their power has been expressed, the madam has finally cried but they are not yet satisfied, keep on crying. What a man! A man or a matchet, wedlock that became padlock, a jail. ChurchGist. A fine-looking young lady or young man, as the case may be turned into a shadow of themselves because of who walked into their lives. Please look well when you’re going to get married, not all that glitters is gold.
Love is blind, because some people will blindly enter into something they are not sure of, but marriage can open your eyes, it can cure that blindness. Suddenly, your eyes will open, is this the kind of person I married? ChurchGist. That is why we talk about courtship, you should get some days, some months and understudy who you want to get married to. Any kind of habits you have, manifest it now, so that the other person can make up their mind, don’t hide anything, just manifest. Just the way people manifest when we are praying for them, this one should not be prayer, just manifest voluntarily, if you know how to be angry, release that temper at the highest level, so that the person can see what he/she is about to get into.
When we were in courtship, my wife to be then, I visited her in the doctor’s quarters and she served me pounded yam or garri, the food was like half of my fist because she does not eat much. So, what she gave me was double of what she would eat and when I looked at it, I asked her; this is for what? What am I to do with this? She said it is your food, I said no, I said if you multiply this thing by 5 or 10, I have not started yet because I don’t eat a lot, but when I eat, I eat, especially at that time. ChurchGist. Now, if it is some people, they will be pretending then, I don’t eat too much, they will even leave a portion after they are done, so they can have respect. That was how we settled that matter at that foundation. Just manifest, don’t hide anything. Whatever capacity you have, manifest it.
Praise the Lord!
Lift up your right hand and say; Father, may I contribute to the joy of my generation, everyone who comes into contact with my life, let me contribute to their joy, to their pleasure.
Father, I will not be an instrument of pain in the life of anybody, I will not be an instrument of pain, hurt and harm in anybody’s life.
Look at the Zambian Church right there, give the Lord a big clap of praise. That’s a very big Church on day one, give the Lord a big shout of praise. Did any of you get that song that we sang there?
As we leave here today, ask your wife, ask your husband, am I a pain in your life? Is there any area that you want me to adjust myself? Ask the people.
- LOVE IS LOOKING OUT FOR AND CELEBRATING THE BEST IN OTHERS. NOT LOOKING OUT FOR AND MAGNIFYING THE WORST IN OTHERS.
You’re focused on what people can do, not what they can’t do. You’re focused on the best in others, not the worst. 1st Corinthians 13:4. In the journey of love, when you see good things in people, you’re not moved to envy, you’re genuinely excited. Hatred is the foundation for envy and jealousy. ChurchGist. It’s a matter of, why is he the one and I’m not the one? Why should she be the one and it’s not me? Why should they have it and I don’t have it? Why are they there and I am not there? When you look at people, don’t start criticizing how they are dressed. Don’t start criticizing what they can’t do, don’t look at the worst in them.
People have sent me music albums and singles and all of that, they’ll say can you listen to it for me and let me know your review, I’ve listened to some of them, no matter how horrible the sound is, I encourage the person by letting them know that they have made a great effort, because not everybody is able to put a song together or even do any recording at all, that is the first thing I would do. ChurchGist. This is great effort! By the time I finish with that, I can now say, tighten up the instrumentation a bit or this or that, not in a negative or derogatory sense. There are some people by the time they finish with you, you don’t believe in yourself. How many of you know those kinds of people? By the time they finish advising you; you’re worthless in your eyes, that is the heart of the devil. That is the agenda of darkness. Jesus came to lift people up not to pull them down, that is the reason for the cross, to cross us over, from negativity to positivity, from adversity to advantage. Is there somebody crossing over here? Shout amen!
Love is complementary, do it with character and Integrity.
- LOVE IS NEVER SELF-CENTERED, EGOCENTRIC AND SELF-OPINIONATED.
Love is not self-focused and self-absorbed. Love has allowance for others, allowance for the input and issues of others. 1st Corinthians 13:15. Philippians 2:4. There are people who behave as if the whole world is about them. Isaiah 14:12-14. People that are self-focused, egocentric people. ChurchGist. A young lady, she was a middle level qualification (OND, NCE), she married a man who was working with the government, a degree holder who is in level 14 or 15. And this man allowed this woman to carry the burden of the house, what broke the camel’s back was that, one day they were coming from a trip and they saw yam on the road, and the man said; honey, can we buy yam for the house? And the man said he does not have money, so they stopped and the young lady, who is just a middle level qualification and is just industrious and hardworking, she bought the yams and they went home.
After they had settled down, later on she was entering the room, when the man saw her, he began to hide money, the woman said; what kind of life is this, money to buy food that you will even eat, you have the money and you’re hiding it, he has the money to buy cloth and food for himself, he has the money to send to friends. ChurchGist. The Bible says any man who cannot take care of his home has rejected the faith, he is worse than an atheist, meaning that he should not call himself a Christian. You’re a worker in the house of God and you can’t take care of your family, Protocol yourself first, usher your life first, choir yourself first.
The children know that you’re a heartless brutal man and you’re there running up and down and calling yourself a worker, there are people whose children will never serve God because they saw how their father was pretending to be serving God. ChurchGist. They saw how their parents were pretending just to go to Church. They come home and are doing all manner of things, and the children will make up their minds, I can’t go to my parents Church, I have to look for my own and they live their own lives. It doesn’t happen by accident.
You have money to look after yourself, some will eat pepper soup outside, they’ll go to a joint and eat their favourite meal, the children are looking for food at home and he’s growing pot belly, please I’m sorry if you have balance brought forward (pot belly). I’m not trying to insult anybody, because there are some people it’s follow come, it’s not about too much food, it’s just follow come. ChurchGist. How can food have a taste in your mouth and your wife has not eaten, your children have not eaten, your mother in the village is suffering and you’re eating anyhow. How? What kind of heart is that? If my children don’t have and my wife doesn’t have, it means there is not one naira in my account and that day will never come.
For a start I don’t have a cheque of mine in my possession, that’s my personal decision, it’s in my wife’s possession but she can’t sign it, she needs my signature. So, in case you say is that not a risk. She can’t sign it and of course, she is trusted. Now, that cannot apply that to every wife, I think it is good to balance it, because there are some wife, if you try that you’ve ended yourself, he will join heads with his brothers and say my husband is a rich man o, he may find another woman later, let’s empty his money now.
Hallelujah!
So, that no woman will harass any man at home, can you give me all your cheques. Tell the woman, didn’t you hear what the pastor said, let me prove you first.
- LOVE IS PATIENT.
Love is durable. 1st Corinthians 13:4. Lust is not durable, it’s very transient, infatuation is not durable, it’s very transient. Every other thing is not durable but love is patient. The meaning of that is love will not give up in a hurry, your wife made one mistake and you gave up on her. No! Your husband made one mistake and you gave up on him. ChurchGist. No! Love is durable, it doesn’t give up in a hurry, especially within the marriage content. Love is patient means love waits for the best to come out. This husband of mine can become better still.
This wife of mine can become better still. Because many are not patient with love there are so many divorces, so many separations, so many broken down relationships, even though there are those, the more you love the more they hate. The more you try to love, the more they prove to you that you’re wasting your time, that kind of situation you allow God to take charge and take control and you face your front. But on a general note, love is durable, it is patient, it expects the best. ChurchGist. Don’t give up on your child and your daughter, your boy that is trying to stray.
IF I WALK IN LOVE, WHAT DO I EXPECT TO EXPERIENCE?
- Walking in love is walking in the nature of God and that is walking in the supernatural naturally.
Because God is love. 1st John 4:8. If I walk in love I am walking in the supernatural naturally.
- Walking in love is walking effortlessly in faith. Galatians 5:6.
It makes faith effortless. I heard a story about Oral Robert, when he carries a baby in his hands, while praying in the healing days, he will ask himself, supposing this is my child, how will I pray for this baby? And he will pray with such a passion and love and before you know it, there is a release of power and that child is made whole.
- Walking in love, qualifies people for the mercy and intervention of God. Psalm 18:25. Job 42:10. Job was praying for those who hated him, those who wished him evil and as he prayed for them, God stopped his captivity.
Prayers:
Father, I ask for the baptism of the Spirit of Love today; I receive deliverance from every trace of selfishness. I receive that deliverance now.
